In this video, I will take you on a deep indonesian street food of Siantar, the heart of North Sumatra.
To start our Indonesian street food tour in Siantar, we went to a 50-year-old noodles joint for some insane noodles. After that, we went to a 100-year-old coffee shop for some traditional coffee and the best Bakpao of my life.
To continue our Indonesian street food tour in Siantar, we went to the traditional market where we had more insane noodles, Mie Gomak and Mie Pangsit.
Moving on with our Indonesian street food tour in Siantar, we went to eat some epic Batak food. We had some of the most unique and delicious dishes ever.
And to end our Indonesian street food tour in Siantar, we went to locals' favourite snacks shop to buy and try the famous Roti Ganda.

Siantar - tiada bandingnya kalau soal makanan. I miss Siantar. Now I am in Germany and I always miss the food from Siantar. I don´t come from Siantar, but I was growing up in Siantar and also was working in Siantar. I love Siantar very much!

Di kota Siantar emg banyak warga Tionghoa yg maju dan berpendidikan kyk si ah yi penjual mie goreng. Rata2 bisa speak English. Dan warga Batak nya juga banyak yg bisa speak English karna posisi Siantar dekat dgn Parapat Danau Toba kawasan wisata. Tokopedia founder juga asalnya dari Siantar.

Di kota Siantar emang banyak warga Tionghoa yang maju kyk si Ah Yi yang jual Mie goreng Acek. Anaknya di Taiwan dan si Ah Yi juga can speak English fluently. Tokopedia founder is also from Siantar. Meskipun Siantar itu cuma kota kecil tapi Batak dan Chinese kuliner nya enak2 bangeeeeet. Siantar is heaven for Batak and Chinese food lovers.

I traveled across Indonesia from Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Bali and Sulawesi. North Sumatra have the best of the best foods in Indonesia. The second place is from Bali, and the third place is from North Sulawesi.
The other place in Java Island like Surabaya, Jogja, Jakarta, or Bandung is good also, but for me they just average. And still far form the best like I mentioned in my top three.

I miss eating babi panggang at Silindung and drinking KokTong coffee. I currently live in Barcelona and can't wait to go back home soon to try all this amazing food again!

As a half Indonesian/Belgian I too consider Siantar as my hometown cause my father is from the area and we used to live in Siantar when i was still a kid.I've been living in Belgium now for the last 25 years but I sure miss Indonesia.As a proper half bataknese from Belgium i will say Horas!! to you and Sherly.Enjoy and cheers!!
