- Welcome! In this video, I share my process for speed painting miniatures using washes. In less than 5 minutes, you'll see how I quickly base coat a model, then use washes straight from the Citadel paint pot to add contrast over the entire miniature.
With a quick dry brush, a few tips for details, you'll see my process for painting a model fast without losing out on crucial contrast and color "pop".
I'm using miniatures from the Descent: Legends of the Dark board game as our canvas. As a gaming enthusiast, I know the immersion that painted miniatures can bring to the table. So, I’m working through this set aiming for maximum visual impact with minimal time investment.

As a beginner [as of October 2023], this tutorial is perfect for me! I'm painting hoard of 100 minis from MvM! Today I primed my 1st minion by dipping it in my DIY wash of clear gesso mixed with dark brown acrylic ink I have on hand. My 1st mini painting experiment looks good - may be a little too light though. Love your quick tips videos!
Amazing. Thank you for the kind words and comment. It’s a great hobby. Oh, clear gesso? Neat. I’ll have to check that method out. I’d love to see !
@@tangibleday Howdy - Thanks for your quick response! Fyi, I used CLEAR gesso because the MvM minions are/were sold in gray with a dark wash on them already! So I figured I don't have to bother with black and gray for priming... Minions are already gray with black in crevices! Also, I don't airbrush or spray paint. I HAVE spray painted with rattle cans in the past, for some art projects. But nowadays, dipping and brush-on methods are better suited to my hobbies and lifestyle.
Seems like Slapchop dry brushing was invented for me - I'm right on time with my minions painting project! Next after priming, I want to figure out how to zenithal highlight using my craft spray bottles and thinned white paint or ink [from another hobby]. I'm sacrificing one of the 100 minions as the prototype for experimenting...Going to binge watch your channel - asap!🙂
@@tangibleday P.S. I plan to take pictures of my experiments this winter - how would I send pix to you eventually?
