    As not proficient player I have no clue why the games ended 😯

      For the second game, the only way to protect the c3 pawn is rook to b3. But then Magnus can just take the d4 pawn, since c3 is pinned (he'd lose the rook on c1. It's basically the forced win of a pawn. I guess that was enough to make him resign.

      For the first one, Carlsen it's two pawns up and has a healthier pawn structure (2 islands) than his opponent (3 islands).
      That means that those pawns (from his opponent) should be protected by a piece while Carlsen's paws can be protected by his own pawns.
      So, the basic strategy will be attack the isolated pawns, trade the minor pieces and use the pawn majority to win the end game.
      That's inevitabel and leads to resignation.
