  • Trying to get some good video of refinishing a couple of grundgy machines. I got in a hurry and skipped filming some steps so there will have to be a part two!

    For those having trouble hearing, click on CC in the bottom video toolbar. CC stands for closed caption and you can read what is spoken.

    i spent 10 minutes googling what gojo was, for non north americans it's supposedly like alcohol hand sanitiser

      It's a lanolin degreaser originally intended as a hand cleaner for mechanics to remove grease and grime without stripping their skin off. the emulsifiers do a good job with loosening decades old oil and dirt.

    Thanks for the info on refinishing. I have a 301 that needs a new shellac finish. Nice Music taste too.

    Neither of these are "rare" machines, and either would be a great candidate for a complete refinish with fresh decals - yes, they're available.

    Hello , I have Singer sewing machine of 1935. I would like to buy different types of presser foot. Can you suggest me from where I can purchase? Please help me with this.

    • @paulmatulewicz1
      @paulmatulewicz1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on which model, but most early Singers were fitted with "Low Shank" style presser feet. These are very common. You can buy a modern set with many styles of snap on feet or you can find a vintage set on ebay or at a thrift store.

    Ok I have watched both 1 and 2 of these and still have no idea what your using to apply the shellac please explain thank you

    • @paulmatulewicz1
      @paulmatulewicz1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Generally referred to as a "rubber" (because that's what you're doing with it), or a "fab" (I don't know why). Traditionally it would have been fine cheesecloth stuffed with scraps of absorbent material. You just want a small soft pad with something to hold on to that will act as a reservoir to hold some of the shellac and a little bit of texture for abrasion. I'm just using a piece of t-shirt knit with some scraps.
