Just a small Tip with huge impact. You can build a big burgage plot but before you confirm the building you have a little "refresh" like button on the left sidde of the hammer and a "plus" and a "minus" symbol on the right hand side of the hammer symbol. The refresh button lets you rotate the plots and the plus and minus lets you adjust how many homes are build. Take one bigger sized burgage and build just 1 home, then use a vegtable farm on it.
I use this to build small vegtable farms and have tons of food. And all my small level 1 plots have Chicken coops on it.

You can use the perk points and start the orchard for food and or honey with bee farming

Then once you get back on track you can wheat farm and bake bread

You really nerfed yourself by making your burgage plots so small. Also, you have trade perks so importing food is cheap- consider some of your industry buildings for trade goods to sell, and there’s a farming production tree you haven’t explored.

I was following strat gaming's 2 hour guide which is great! But no longer applies to this version 😆 well it did get me through the first year which is further than I probably would have gotten on my own 👍
