- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been out for a week now, and Rob has finally emerged from half a month of playing to deliver the verdict: this game is a fan's dream come true. The way it takes the classic material of Final Fantasy 7 and reinvents it for the 4K generation is simple staggering. There are no story spoilers in these impressions, but our shiny Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 4K gameplay does come from the first half of the game.
If you've read any Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth review you'll know how well Square Enix have nailed this update to their classic adventure. Once empty stretches of land become rich open world regions laced with classic enemy encounters, huge story twists and loads of moments to get to know your party better. Cloud, Tifa, Barret and the gang have long been one the greatest RPG parties around, but they are really taken to the next level here.

That part was gold!
I was blown away by the depth. Not only is all the iconic characters, locations and moments here, they have added more brilliance in-between such as Queen's Blood, Duck Shooter in Costa Del Sol and the Galactic space invaders like shooter at the gold saucer. It's my game of the year by miles, absolutely loving everything about it.
It’s my game of the generation probably. Top 3 fav games all time. I’m not even finished. I’m just at the end of chapter 10 and I have 85 hours in. I’m in awe at everything man

@@jacksonstubbs2999 I'm not sure how but I did it first time. Just use the barrel rolls and strafe across the screen side to side. Patience and precision and you will be golden 👍🏻
there was a moment on the boat where I thought ok Red XIII isn't in the uniform. I guess they can't put everything in this and then BAM he was in the uniform with flair. I was so excited. Just one of many instances that blew me away.
I did the same thing. "Well, that would just be too silly even for this..... wait... OH MY GOD THEY DID IT"
This might quite frankly be one of the best games I have ever played.

It’s an actual masterpiece. Remake and Rebirth have kind of ruined gaming for me because every other game I play just pales in comparison now.

Finished Infinite Wealth the day before Rebirth dropped. Clocked in over 100 hours and enjoyed every minute of it. One hell of a game. I would highly recommend it as well.@@leviullrich2338

Despite my first console being an Intellivision, FF7 Remake was my first ever FF game, and I have become entirely absorbed by the sheer LIFE of these games. Starting Rebirth was like returning to some great friends.

When I got to the Golden Saucer I was giddy with excitement at how amazing it looked.
I couldn't go in for a while because I knew that I was never going to have the experience of seeing it for the first time again 😂
I feel if you have never played the OG, you won't grasp how truly amazing Remake & Rebirth are. Rebirth with its revamped OST and reimagining and expansion on all the areas we knew so well is a thing of beauty.
Not true at all. I’m 30 and never played the original as I was like 3 at the time. Only final fantasies I have played are 14 (mmo) 15, and 16…along with part 1 remake. Rebirth might be my favourite game of all time, at the very least top 3. It’s an absolute masterpiece
@@JayBiggs-cd2zg I think he just meant it's extra special if you have because you would have the anticipation of reliving everything in today's graphics especially if you grew up playing the OG it is truly amazing to have grown up with the OG and waited since 1997 to have this experience

Agree with this. Some of the player is complaining about some technical issue on the graphic, but if you played the OG, it is hard to believe that this game is real. During my playthrough since the remake until rebirth, I keep repeating those words. I can't believe this game is real 😂

Absolutely love Rebirth! I was expecting to be hit with nostalgia for the original, but i wasn't expecting to be getting so much genuine nostalgia for Remake and Intermission already, as well as Crisis Core and the other spinoff titles (and even other FF games, the music for a certain 'Eccentric Swordsman' is one of the best tracks in the game!). They build on basically every entry in the FF7 compilation. The visuals, the music, the combat system, and the depth of the characters all blew me away. Incredible!
Miraculous Phenomenal Game! Would love to see a SpoilerCast on this when Rob and Rosie have finished (and platinumed) the game!
When I'm playing this game, it doesnt feel real. Its unbelievable. Being with this group of characters is such a special experience. I never played remake until a couple weeks ago. I finished it and jumped in this so i could have a seamless experience
This game is basically gaming porn. It brings me genuine happiness, an excitement to come home from work and play, loving every second, every moment. It is literally everything you could wish for and more. As for favourite moment, can’t say. It is just one big happy moment for me and has reignited a true passion in me.
Seeing Red XIII riding a chocobo has to be the highlight of the game so for me

This game was far more than I ever thought Square would’ve been able to accomplish.
They’ll never be able to go back now from the formula this game has done! Otherwise, FF17 will just be a disappointment.

When I reach Gongaga village and the ost hit my memories so hard! That not enough , another red head lady comes out hit harder ! But luckily have yuffie sing a song to balance my emotion 😂

I just beat the main story it took me 99 hours I am about to beat it again on hard and finish all the sidequests
One small detail that I'm really feeling since I first heard it yesterday is the theme music for Gongaga with the pipes. It's an absolute vibe.

About 53 hours in and at Golden Saucer, Caith Sith english voice was suprice what it sounded but in good way.

Game is so good, they really outdid themselves. 1 very meh gameplay section was def too drawn out, but it’s a small blemish on what is a gorgeous world/experience
I remember playing FF7 back in 1997 and it changed my life, it taught me the value of great storytelling which affected other aspects of my life and I absolutely fell in love with the characters and I told anyone who would listen "one day they'll remake this" its why i never deterred from PlayStation when Remake released it was everything I ever wanted....Rebirth is more than I could have ever imagined....also am absolutely addicted to Queens Blood now....Square please make this an actual tabletop card game! 😅
I really need to thank you both for getting me into the FF series finally. I love FF7 Remake so much that I finally got the plat the day before the release of Rebirth and I have been knees deep into Rebirth since launch. I can't put it down. I hope I can experience everything this game has to offer!

The Gongaga Region OST really gripped my soul. I'm glad I preordered the 7 disc OST.
It’s so ironic though - I ordered the digital deluxe edition for the OST as well… but the damn PS cant even play the OST disc!

Airships, playable Vincent and cid, Godzilla monsters and saving the world from annihilation it's gonna be a hell of ride.

about 80 hours in and i am just starting chapter 9 so much to explore in this game.
One thing i recommend for immersion is turn off compass or objective markers. Hasnt hampered play at all as you still have a map to refer to
In my dream it wasn't so blurry, and the protorelic quests didn't break...locking out content.

I actually enjoyed 16 more. I feel like you do not fight very much in this game. I would say that’s what it lacks for my opinion. I have 40 hours gameplay I’m only on chapter 7. I feel like I have barely fought anybody. There are more mini games than anything else. Still enjoying it since I loved and grew up with the original. I just wish there was more fighting.
FF7 is my favorite game of all time. I loved the remake, loved CC, loved advent children...you get the point.
I was really hyped for rebirth. I am over 20h in, in Junon to be precise. And i don't know...i am really having issues with it so far. The open world is amazing, i love the design. But i can't stand those world intel missions. Those scanning minigames with the crystals, the summons, towers like far cry and so on. I loved the dark tune in the remake, it was serious and down to earth. In Rebirth everyone and everything is so cringy and happy. I tell myself all the time "come on, you love FF7! It is going to be great." I just continue and see what happens. Maybe it clicks after a few hours.
The game is great but the nostalgia surrounding it if you loved the og just pushes so many buttons. The characters are so good and well witten and endearing that you genuine care for them. The soundtrack is maybe the best i have ever heard in any game. There are also so many real live themes regarding mental issues (mental decline, mental disorder) or dealing with grief and loss.
I'm glad I can safely click any FF7 videos now that I've finished the game
I haven't beaten the game yet... But I love that we can talk this way about a game that was released over 25 years ago.
I never played the original final fantasy 7 even though I knew of it but I was never a turn based combat guy. Then I picked up The remake I thought it was awesome. Crisis Core reunion was great. But I am absolutely enjoying rebirth more than the rest of them But I am absolutely enjoying rebirth more than them both. I understand why people love the original final fantasy 7.
Yeah it’s really hard to play games now games like elden ring , remake , rebirth , bg3 and games like avatar frontiers of pandora comes out and I can’t even play through it because I’m bored within a couple hrs these big games are definitely ruining a lot of games for me hard to go back

This is the only game ive played since it came out. 70 hours in and on chapter 11. Everything is soo good! Except the moogles.. moogles are not cute at all and the moogle voice is actually annoying lol

This is truly a masterpiece of a game.
I'm really blown away by the depth the devs went into to reimagine and expand on the locales, the characters and the lore, along with obscure tidbids and nods to other titles -
the underground battle arena in Corel Prison, ice cream and 'techie' Vincent.
FFVII Rebirth is the most fun I’ve had playing a video game in a few years. Absolutely blown away by the details. If this isn’t Game of the Year, then a crime has been committed
50+ hours in, and I'm barely even halfway through the game with so much content to do. The small fraction of people who were complaining online about some of the most mundane things in Rebirth, before the game was even released, are oddly quiet right now.
Please remake final fantasy 8 too.

not mine, was disappointed by the amount of minigames and infuriating sidequests, especially from gongaga onward, i just hauled arse to the main content after gongaga. never again
The game is outstanding, I'm telling this as someone who are playing games for around 25 years. So much details, not a single element is half-baken (even the dozens of mini-games, here they've done even more than Sega in Yakuza series!), the quality in every mechanic is overwhelming. We'd be living in a paradise if all the games was this amazing. The segmented open-world is so cool, the key there is amount of content they giving you at one time. Now this is something I was looking for -- to make a quality stuff in OW instead of quantity.
It's so sad, looking at the small sales in Japan and some other countries. Freaking embarassing that people so eager to buy those every-year cash-grabs instead of this. I myself bought 2 copies (first digital, after - physical deluxe) and proud of it.

There are so many little nods to the OG, but one of the recent ones that sticks in my mind was the dialogue options when Yuffie joins your party. On pure muscle memory I picked all the ones that you have to pick in OG to get her to join and it was wonderfully nostalgic. Then I watched Maxdood play that part and he picked different options and she ran off instead 😆
Half way through my second run, it's even better than before, and now I'm back on ff16 to get myself even more excited for that Rising Tide DLC my adrenaline has Limit Broken knowing what's in store, it's so awesome being a FF fan atm, no other game franchise gives me this much immense joy, FF forever 4 Life 🤘👍

I feel so spoiled this year. First persona 3 remake which is another of my favourite games of all time.
And now ff7 the game that introduced me to my favourite franchise. I still remember the magic of playing the original for the first time. And this game somehow manages to recapture that feeling so often.
I love all the story stuff so far, but I’m getting pretty burnt out with my progress being stopped so consistently to do mandatory mini games 😩

i do like how expansive the game really is and i do enjoy how ps access and many people are enjoying this game but as much as a giant theme park of ff7 as remake and rebirth has been its just "too much" its hard to explain but its not really the flavour i loved about ff7, but thats just me, old man vibes, glad other people are enjoying it though

Just from the demo (starting it proper tonight) the interactions in Tifa's house had my sides splitting from laughing so much
I adore this game it is an utter delight.
I love this remake of the original. I have just started playing in Graphics mode and I was awestruck at the visuals. The visuals are much improved as compared to the Remake.
I was really impressed with Nibelhelm - the level of detail in this game pulls you deeper in to the FFVII world. A gem of a game indeed that make you glad to be part of the PS clan.
Truly a game that was made with love and dedication.

It's soooo great but I wish we got a bit more story stuff. I said that in Remake too. Like the side content in Rebirth is incredible but I would prefer more story.
First time in my adult life that I have loved a game this much and that has come close, possibly even better than the original game...I now need to replay the original again and compare lol.
What I will say, is it's amazing how good the combat is and how I never get sick of it.
I wish we had materia loadouts though, hopefully in part 3 but doubt it. I am not sure why they haven't put this QoL feature in yet and if someone comments saying there is and I somehow missed it...I will cry lol

Your playthrough of the original inspired me to go back and actually finish playing remake (I restarted in the end). Never played the original. Excited to move on to this after remake now

The Gongaga soundtrack is absolute perfection. From the second it started i just got chills and i haven't been able to stop thinking about it even after beating the game. Definitely one of my favorite game tracks ever
The game is incredible although trying to master every minigame along the way for plat I found draining by the time i got to gongaga, opted to just enjoy the game from there on & as i say- incredible.
Making my way through Cait box puzzle....hella lame. Games great though. Massive!

I'm already in Chapter 10 and still blown away by this game. Every minute I just can't help but just smile while exploring the world. The first time I stepped on Gold Saucer, my god, almost cried like a kid as that is how I imagined it would look like remade!

I'm 40Hours in! I just have no words how its surpassed my expectations! Above and beyond! I could not stop smiling upon arriving at The Golden Saucer! Had to pick my jaw up a few times, When i was a wee little boy Playing FF7 on PS1 back in the day, i loved Cait sith and gave him the name " Flumpy " Because well, he looks like a huge flump. Upon seeing him in rebirth, i absolutely lost it. Just wow! I just dont want this journey to ever end! i really dont!!!!
I have tried so hard to like this game. I have yet to truly enjoy a moment. Maybe I should have replayed the original and Remake first instead of going from 16 to Rebirth.
Just hearing the new versions of the bgm brought me to tears. They really put in a lot of heart into re-imagining them. Love it.
I am an emotional wreck because of this game.i have never been so happy and teary-eyed in so many moments in a game in my life!
They stretched what should be one long game into 3 and that left remake with LONG dull portions. So now I’m worried about getting this one and finding it similar. They milked it into 3 and I think that’s a bad idea based on what I saw in remake. Now maybe this one makes up for it. Should I try it? Remakes long slow dull sections really messed it up for me, does this have that?
You can’t make FFVII in one game with this type of production and do it justice. Either way, you should definitely play rebirth, it is far better then remake.
The original FF7 is one of the best games ever. This unfortunately for me is just another mediocre hack and slash. Played the demo (the playable walking in the flash back is unbearablely slow and dull) and I'll wait for a sale or ps plus. Put the old combat system and mechanics with these graphics and world and it would have been immense. Not been a good final fantasy for me since FF12
