So many questions to asked her and yet the interviewer really did not do justice for the wonderful talent in front of her Ginger Rogers , being asked it's been a long long time since you've done a movie geez insult to it lady.
... rita was above n beyond .... though their dance (ginger & fred) in Follow the Fleet, viz., "Face the Music" (thanx not so incidentally to I. Berlin, set designers & Hermes Pan) is (for me, at least) - legendary ....
Why were these sadistic movie studios so harsh to women? Forcing women to dance for hours in shoes that were too small? Dance until the poor womans feet were bleeding? What kind of people ran these studios?
It is sad what a lot of stars had to endure...Busby Berkley (choreographer), did the same for a young Judy Garland in the 1930s at MGM, and so on...they wanted nothing but perfection from their stars....
Everything had to be perfect ON the screen ...visually the female dancer had to be feminine and sophisticated..no big feet on the screen...the price for glamour !!
Wow, what an incredible Narcissist. Make a drinking game of how many times she begins speaking before the interviewer finishes and uses personal pronouns "I" and "my" and "me" in this interview. I have come to believe she was an awful person to be around.
Not at all, though she liked her own way, which usually meant Lela's way. One has to grasp how tough it was to fulfil one's ambitions as an actress without getting badmouthed as a pushy bitch, usually by men. Ginger was not as stigmatized in that way as Joan, Bette, Olivia or Kate were. She was a devout Christian Scientist, outdoor girl, non-drinker, non-smoker, which did not fit Hollywood's mores. She regarded husbands and kids as optional extras, and when that is so one often winds up with neither. Above all Ginger wanted to be taken seriously as an actress. She tended to assimilate the prevalent feeling that musicals were frivolous cash generators underwriting the 'serious' kind of movie. She never danced for pleasure, and was much more eager to talk about her costumes than her choreography. It is hard to say she misprized her talents, since the decade after her breakup with Fred brought her an Oscar and a variety of acting triumphs. At one point she was the highest paid woman in the business.
That’s what you got from this?? How anyone could think a true, sincere and lovely class act like Ms. Rogers is narcissistic is truly disturbing. The interview is about HER. How else would you like her to approach the questions? May I ask, who your favorite actress was/is? Have you ever watched any of Gingers films? Have you read any of her autobiography? She was quite the opposite of a narcissist. If anything she was incredibly humble and did not have to be, I might add. It saddened me that you see it this way
I'm a Gingersnap from wayyyyy back! Simply adored this woman. Her beauty, talent and work ethic have made her my idol 🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful lady of class...and she was the true definition of *STAR!* : )
Ginger was 100% pure class and grace; kind and warm and a very beautiful woman.
And most importantly, a marvelous actress.
Ginger is simply amazing! It's sad to see many pple tear her mother and her mother's career apart. Ginger is my top Role model
Gosh she stayed so beautiful till the end. Love that she kept her lovely long hair.

The interviewer looks like Vanna White

I met her in 1991. She was very nice. However, in order to be successful in the entertainment, you have to be kinda narcissistic.
