    Instead of using a sharpie to mark where the leg base goes you could also use a small bit of toothpaste to help with the transfer! Similar to the trick for hanging picture frames! I’ve done this and it worked well for me! Great job, keep up the amazing furniture flips!

    My husband wouldn't ever go that " tad bit higher" because he wanted to ensure returning customers because if someone buys from you at a reasonable price and not an inflated price they are more apt to purchase from you again down the road or send people his way ... and they did. People appreciate the work we put into our hand-made works or as you say, "one of a kind pieces" but also, still want affordable prices. I sell my products at exactly 50% mark up, no more no less ( unless having a special) and I have a great customers. Mind you it isn't furniture but the principle still applies. Best of luck k in the future! You do great work!

      Thanks for your thoughts on that pricing comment. That’s the beauty of life and of capitalism. It’s all subjective and contingent upon so many factors.
      I respect Neiman and my parents thoughts on my pricing. Neiman has been running his own businesses and pricing things that don’t come necessarily with a blue print for pricing services and such for quite awhile now. His experience is invaluable in that realm. The logic makes sense to me. The world is constantly changing and so is pricing. Today’s price is not tomorrow’s price type of philosophy.
      Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed 😊

    Lorna don't know why you worry you do such a good job. I love watching you. This is a 70 three-year-old soon to be 74 great Grandma, it's my favorite time I don't watch TV I just watch my TH-cam people and you do such a good job, I used to do this. My hands are itchy cause I'd like to get my paintbrush out and do furniture, but I can't I'm too old and too handsome too crippled with authorities. Anyway, I've got a whole house full of my furniture that I did so but you keep up the good work. I love watching you

    FYI get a Dremel tool and use the little metal cutting wheel to cut those screws down to whatever length you want, so you don't have to add blocks of wood to the bottom of your piece just to accommodate the stock screws. Once you use one you'll wish you had gotten it sooner!

    • @ob1smom
      @ob1smom ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the split wooden piece should be replaced before selling. That leg is going to wobble and is not structurally sound. This can happen to anyone. Otherwise, the project is good. 👍

    Wow, Lauren. I have been searching and searching for flips of Lane Cedar Chests, and this one just takes my breath away. I have my Grandmother's Lane cedar chest and it has a few problems - including the base but basically not too bad. I will practice on some smaller things first but then I will definitely use these products when I decide to do it. I won't have to worry about selling it because I will pass it on to my daughter. Thanks for sharing your visions and talent!

    Wonder why don't paint back of cedar chest? Think I may have missed reason? Super nice flip.

    I like this particular flip because I have an old (from 1968) Lane cedar chest too. Unfortunately, I had some water in my basement this summer that I wasn't aware of for several days (I don't go to the basement every day) and the base underneath the chest proper (no legs, just the base) was warped/damaged by the wet carpet underneath it. Note: This is why I HATE the idea of carpet in a basement rec room! I think tje cjest would look good with mid-century mod legs on it as the style is otherwise sleek/modern. I have never "flipped" a piece of furniture in my life, but I have painted a few wood kitchen chairs and a couple of side tables. The rest of the chest is in pretty good condition other than a deep scratch on the top, that can be filled in with wood putty and I think just restained (I'll try it anyway). I like the wood look, not into painting something that otherwise is still in very good condition finish-wise. You gave me an idea with adding the legs to your cedar chest make-over. I just have to get over my fear of screwing up bigly!

    I've watched so many of your videos Lauren and LOVE what you do. With that said, I have a Cedar Chest I want to paint (which you've given me confidence to do) but the cedar has "knots" on the exterior (character) but I'm concerned it will look odd with a solid paint over it and draw attention to those texture spots. Should I try to fill/sand or just go with it? Help!!!

    Curious why you didn't paint the back of the cedar chest? I've got to do something similar to my old Lane Cedar Chest!! Thank you!!

    I enjoy watching your flips. However, I have come to realize I have "old outdated furniture"! Two of the pieces you have worked on recently, I have in my bedroom. One was purchased at an auction, the other was purchased new. Now my dilemma is, do I keep everything as is, or do I flip six pieces? I am 71 one years old and do pretty well, but I don't have the energy I had 20 years ago.
