    The purpose of this channel is to promote the sport of diving in the world! Often times diving is buried in a long swimming video, or streamed events are lengthy and slow.. We reformat it to give the spotlight to diving and cut out the empty, uneventful moments in the stream to make it more appealing to viewers while making sure we maintain the integrity of the competition.
    We request permission to repost and give credit where credit is due, but if you need us to delete one the videos we posted please do no hesitate to contact us and will will do so promptly. Joelle@flipnrip.com.

    Why do most of the young women wear their swimsuits about 5 sizes too small for them?

      Hahaha that is so true. It seems like High School and college girls always wear suits too small... Then if they compete at National they seem to go back to normal.. Teenage girls I guess..

      FLiPnRiP Thanks for the answer. It probably all started with someone refusing to wear anything other than a size EXTRA EXTRA SMALL when they needed to come to grips with the fact they needed an EXTRA EXTRA LARGE. And the fad of showing their ass took off!
      A few years ago I discovered diving videos and that is when I noticed the swimsuit issue. I thought there might be a purpose for it, like elongating the leg from the rear or something like that.
      When I was a diver in the mid 1980s (and prior to that a gymnast) we wouldn't be caught dead with our suits like that. We just bought suits that fit! 😁👍
      I have another question. When I dove I didn't know much about the sport, I was just a much needed body for our country club's team ( I didn't even know who Greg Louganis was!). When I, and the other people I dove with, went into the water I just went straight in and then came up. Where now it seems like divers don't do it the same way. When they enter the water they kinda somersault. I don't know what it is called but I imagine it enables them to 'rip' their dive. Is that why they do that?
      Does this question make sense? It is hard to explain it without using my hands and arms.
      Thank you for the great videos!

      @@h.r.puffinstuff431 hahaha. Yes you are right, they do what it's called a "pike save" underwater. It's supposed to suck all the water in. It actually does when it is done properly! You open your hands and swim while pike saving.

    Why do they all wet the towel when coming out?

    • @FlipnripDIVING
      @FlipnripDIVING  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it is to dry themselves out. Even though they can take a hot shower or hop into a hottub getting in an out of the colder water can stiffen their muscles so they dry up before each dive, and this can take up to an hour depending on the competition. Much faster at international level meets, but at College meet like this one and High School meets, events are long with a lot of divers and it gets pretty cold! :)

      It's a chamois so getting it wet makes it fresher, and then it is squeezed "dry" and can dry the water off the diver better than a terrycloth towel.

      It isn't a towel. When I was a diver back in the early to mid 80s, we used a smaller version of this. It was called a Sammy ( I don't know if they still call them that or not). They dry you off really quickly.
