Key Steps for Underwater Equipment Management:
    1. Begin with one knee up and all air fully deflated from your BCD to stabilize yourself.
    2. Start unclipping and loosening your straps from the top of your BCD while working downwards.
    3. Unclip the chest strap and fully loosen the shoulder straps.
    4. Release the cummerbund of the BCD and bring it in front of your body using your LEFT hand.
    5. Inspect the BCD for any necessary adjustments before replacing it.
    6. Use your RIGHT hand first to replace the BCD, keeping your alternate air source under your shoulder.
    7. Hold the tank with your right hand to reposition it behind you, especially if it has become positively buoyant.
    8. Locate the low-pressure inflator to prevent twisting of the shoulder strap behind you.
    9. Tighten and replace your straps from the bottom of your BCD while working upwards.
    10. Secure the Velcro on the cummerbund and waist clip, tighten the shoulder straps, and re-secure the chest strap.
    11. Double-check that all gauges and hoses are tucked away and streamlined for optimal hydrodynamics.

Easy with a little practice, take your time, relax, breathe and think methodically, like everything - you practice.
If you are subscribed, you will see the skill performed 'neutrally bouyant' as a part of the Divemaster skill circuit in the next few days and will receive a notification when its published. Enjoy!

what would you do if it was a weight integrated bcd. Easy to do with weight belt.

If you are teaching confined for an Open Water beginner student, you would also need to demonstrate how to remove and replace your weight system underwater as a performance requirement.
In this case it is likely you would we wearing a weight belt (even if you do not usually wear one) for the purposes of demonstrating the skill. If you are doing this, you can spread your weight between your weight belt and your BCD integration system.
In the case that you are not wearing a weight belt, there are techniques you can use to stabilize yourself. If you are demonstrating the skill, and wish to stay planted on the bottom, you can place one knee up ( as if you were going to propose). This will help to keep you balanced.
As you remove the BCD, anticipate that you will feel lighter and exhale to help become more negatively buoyant.
If you are performing this skill as a demonstration, I would suggest you practice it multiple times, until it feels comfortable.
While the BCD is off you can keep it close to your body, and have one hand pushing down on the tank in case it floats up (common problem when using Aluminum Cylinders).
This being said, you do not need to be negatively buoyant to do this skill. You can also practice neutrally buoyant as well, and perform the skill mid water.
In the end the most important thing is to practice the skill over and over until you feel comfortable.
      Hope this answers your question.

If you let go of the SCUBA kit will it float up (positively buoyant)?

Thanks for your comment and its a good question, although the answer comes with a couple of unknown variables.
Are there any small residual air pockets left in the BCD?
Is remaining tank pressure around the 100+ mark?
Is the skill being performed in Open Water or a Pool?
Even on the Aluminum tanks with zero air left in the BCD and 100+ left in the tank, in our experience the kit should stay negatively buoyant, if left alone. The variable could be between 80-120 bar left in the tank, assuming the BCD is completely empty.
Of course, if tank pressure is low on a light tank or if there is any residual air left in the BCD, the kit will start its gradual ascent, if left alone.
It's worth referring you to our 2020 Divemaster Skill circuit as we endeavour to now conduct these skills where appropriate whilst neutrally buoyant. Practice, practice, practice. Enjoy your diving !

Great video! I'll use with my students. Only change for me is to kneel my right leg rather than my left leg to allow the kit to swing around more easily. Other than that - perfect!

Is this taught to open water course?

Hi, we can refer you to our DM skills videos that are taught neutrally buoyant:
      idckohtao.com/padi-divemaster-skills-videos
We endeavour to teach our entry level skills neutrally buoyant within the learning capacity and ability of each student to be able to learn and at various stages of the course.
Certainly by AOW (with us) you can expect to be able to perform these skills neutrally buoyant, whilst enjoying the learning experience of Adventure diving.
Our teaching is progressive and tailored to each student and of course, we want to ensure the course is fun, enjoyable whilst also delivering a course curriculum that is most beneficial to the student as a diver moving forward.
      Hope this helps 😊

Having my own IDC presentation of this skill tomorrow (I am an instructor candidate). I hope, I will do that at least half that ideal =) really great performance! Thank you for that video.
BTW from my perspective it is a bit easier to do so in a neutral bouyancy/trim as well as the weightbelt removal. The side effect though is that the students will not likely repeat it easily.
