  • Today we've got a killer Fender setup for you, starting with a 1950 Broadcaster with quite a few changes that make it an affordable piece of Fender history! We've also got a pristine 1963 Fender Princeton Amp on deck with a 1961 Reverb unit for all of that springy goodness. Today we've got Jay here to tell you all about these wonderful pieces of gear before handing things off to Nick Mardon for a demo!

    My older brother had a 1960 Jazzmaster and a 1960 PRO and one of those '61 Reverb tanks, best I can recall. Got it first year they came out, at any rate. This is a great sounding rig, hear!

    Is it still being sold as a 1950 Broadcaster because its still hanging on to the original body shape (but not original finish) ? With every electronic component and all functional hardware (aside from bridge plate) replaced and the neck/fretboard reshaped and refinished I think it would be more accurately described as "Vintage Partscaster (with 1950 Swamp Ash Body)."

      You forgot about the original pickguard with 50 bullet holes. One for each time he made a mod to the guitar 😆

    • @paulcowart3174
      @paulcowart3174 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shouldn't have changed the tuner's out IMO They left the rest so that's strange

    • @cookq
      @cookq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      original body, original neck (yes, planed), original bridge, original weird pickguard. Sooner or later most vintage guitars will get the electronics modded because they wear out and will get a refret. All original is nice but at 70+ years it's a thin market for electric guitars from the 1950s. Go ahead and find another one if you don't like this one.

    • @paulcowart3174
      @paulcowart3174 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree and would probably prefer original electronics to an original refin'd body I'm bias tho LoL I have a 65 Strat that original body was heavy as heck and thick poly refin So picked up a nice light MjT nitro replacement These guys client's are people with lots of disposable income 35K for a partscaster Tele 😳 Ah the good old days 58 Strat for 3K in early 90's

    So, not a broadcaster neck, frets, finish, nut, tuners, pickups or pots.... really curious what kind of price someone would actually consider paying for this. Fair to say it's a super old partscaster?

      Yeah...makes me wonder why even change the tuner's back Should have left it all how it was lol maybe that justified the price

    Close up of the neck pickup answered my question. Did they drill all those holes with the pickguard on the body?

    Is the decal on the headstock original?

  • @paulcowart3174
    @paulcowart3174 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmmm really think you should have left the tuner's be Obviously those were staying in tune Let the buyer decide maybe throw some original replacements in the case Just my opinion Very cool guitar I just picked up a 61 Princeton tremolo Love it It has cream knobs tho...is that correct for some of those early ones ??They are getting pricey Is the reverb unit for sale ?? No reverb in my house 😟

      Metal dustcap speaker is meant for cleans. Use a celestion g10 gold and that amp screams

    So basically the only thing original is the wood, certainly not worth $ 35,000, more like $ 5,000.

    • @paulcowart3174
      @paulcowart3174 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whew is that what their asking ??? Maybe they would be interested in some of my player grade guitars 🤔

    • @paulcowart3174
      @paulcowart3174 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes just saw the price...some Dr or lawyer will buy it maybe but I'm sure that's negotiable lol Really thinking about it if you picked up a Warmoth roasted neck and body combo and put your favorite electronics in it Pretty much the same results IMO

    These are MAJOR player guitars. Worthless. Good salesman though. NOTHING original other than maybe the wood, the totally refinished wood. $3K tops but you could do way better for that money. Sorry guys.
