As a previous property manager, I can tell you that the owners of the property are the ones who make the decisions about how much money is spent on maintenance---and being good capitalists, their profit is always going to be more important to them than human decency.
Right now the system America has is corporate feudalism, and we are the serfs.
Unless you are willing to fight for your rights and humanity, you won't find it in America.
Take the profit out of housing, and let tenant unions and non-profit organizations lead the way!

I am in Raytown and a homeowner. I support you! I have been there before! I believe a lot of it has to do with the recent tax assessments.. but too many corporations were grabbing up the properties in KC during the pandemic. Prayers for the cause!!

Almost everyone I know is a broke renter or used to be a broke renter. All of us have had landlords that completely took advantage of us. This happens because the laws are not on our side as renters. We are used simply as a battery to run a machine that's all about profit. This movement is about changing that. New housing policy has to be about people, not profit.

How do you get to hell?
Very simple: claim that you're innocent.
How do you get to heaven?
Very simple: Admit that you're not Innocent, you're guilty and ask for mercy.
How many lies have you told in your life?
Have you ever taken anything that didn't belong to you?
Have you ever used God's holy name to curse, would you do that with your mother's name?
      Jesus said:
      Matthew 5:28
*_"but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."_*
      Have you ever done that?

Have you ever read the next 5 verses?
      John 3:16
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”

Free Market may not be ideal, but the solution offered by KC tenant is far worst. Unfortunately, if they succeed, it will be too late to go back to “these terrible conditions”. There is no doubt that bad and abusive landlords must be fought, yet more importantly tenants must be taught their rights and RESPONSIBILITIES.
I didn’t hear a single word about responsibilities in the whole documentary.

The Ten Commandments do not work without the right to private property.
Somebody else's literal house does not belong to you no matter how angry you are.

    You shall not steal.
    10th
You shall not covet your neighbor’s belongings.

The Bible is also very specifically against usury- loaning for interest, and loaning money to make money. Maybe you need to read the Bible again. The renter pays for the home- the rent pays the mortgage, insurance, repairs, maintenance, everything. No one is stealing but the landlord. Nice try though.
