“If you want peace, prepare for war” is a Latin aphorism that translates to si vis pacem, para bellum. The phrase is often attributed to the Roman historian and author Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus, who wrote about it in the 4th or 5th century AD. The full quote from Vegetius's work, Dē Rē Mīlitārī, is Igitur quī dēsīderat pācem, præparet bellum, which translates to "Therefore let him who desires peace prepare for war". The phrase means that to preserve peace, one must be prepared to make war to defend it if necessary.
@@j.w.31 That was a marketing ploy by DWM when they introduced the cartridge in 1902 to differentiate it from other 9mm cartridges at the time. 9mm Para Bellum has stood the test of time, the others didn't.

"If you wish for peace, prepare for war" - ROMAN words of wisdom... May we all thank those who hold the Moral Leash of the monsters among us.
Yeah makes me wonder if the destruction of Carthage was the beginning of the end for Rome, they lost their big reason to be strong.. No longer on death ground

31:47 I did enjoy the story, the narrative was interesting. However "And the Galaxy would never be the same," took the wind out of my sails. I been listening to these stories for nearly 2 years now, and sadly those words are nearly used in 4 out of 5 stories I've heard. It's really time to move on from that term. "And the galaxy will never be the same", is now the most overused term in most of these Galactic stories and it's gotten way out of hand.

why star wars imagery? Don't get me wrong, this story is just fantastic. Get the text correction better though. Thank you for this fascinating universe and the fact that humans are unexpected. I love how we are showing non humans what it is to be human, it reminds us of who we are and have been!!

Creation and art were always what follow war, how long ago did humans learn to mold clay, create glass or smelt iron and other metals from the earth. when did we decide to tile a floor or a wall because we invented arsenal to destroy a clay brick wall but tile stood up to fire. We are all different in our approach to peace but it would not be possible if there was not first war.
Are you under the impression that there are truly new and original story ideas? Everything has been written by now. "New" stories are old ideas written in different ways.
"Only a warrior can choose peace.
Everyone else has no choice in the matter."
This AI voicing is surprisingly well done. It has reasonable amounts of emotional inflection and pausing. Very nice.

It is interesting that the 9mm round, which is a NATO standard is called “Para Bellum”.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst, is something humanity has learned the had way.
Had way
@@your_friendlyneighborhoodReich The Had species are wise 😌
It was once said “Walk softly and carry a big stick!”. Sometimes you have to fight for the peace you want.
Another hfy story has an alternate take on that: peace carries a hammer.
That is also the name of the story
"To peace, with really big guns!"
13:14 I think the ai caught the typo and panicked 😂
not the panicked goat bleat xD

Blackstar, Phoenix and Storm.
Sounds like something I'd name an MMO character with lol.
For real lol they seemed a bit much for my liking in this story
Ehmm the names Voidborn and Ravagers are straight up from Endless Space 2. :D
A story that made sense from beginning to end!! How refreshing!
It’s fairly rare for AI stories now but yeah this is a decent one

Nicely done. Although it will certainly be misunderstood.

it gives a good laugh tho

I am usually asleep by the end.
You could say, the Galaxy was ever the same.
Could it be a signature or just an AI phrase

12:24 the storm troopers in the background 😂

The story was a little "off" if for me too, and English is my first language. I believe it's because the story is read by an AI.

I think Ronald Reagan would have liked this story.
More like JFK, he actually used the quote for evil and good men doing nothing.

can anyone tell me about these ai narrators and the random Tourette episodes ?
