It's become laughable when people say Gibson has become trash and they don't make good acoustics anymore. I honestly think in the past year, they have made some of the best acoustics (at least the J-45) you could ever ask for. Sure they're expensive, but you're not getting ripped off like everyone would lead you to believe.
Beautiful tone!! I have a J45, a Taylor and a Martin…the Gibson J45 is my favourite and for me, has the most quintessential guitar tone of any guitars I have ever played!!
Beautiful sounding J45, I just bought one and I was blown away. I am 37 years old and for me the distinct sound coming from this guitar is the main reason why a lot of singer songwriter is gravitating towards it. Not too loud not to Boomy, Every notes rings and the distinct darkness and mellowness combination is second to none. I have martin’s, Taylor’s and this is the first guitar that I grab every morning. Great playing by the way
Awesome playing, comforting. Great guitar also. Seriously considering a J45. I like the red of the 60s version but I don’t want the adjustable bridge so have to see what to do. Keep rocking!
Absolute love the J-45!! My current weapon of choice is a Gibson Advance Jumbo.. In my opinion it's Gibson's best acoustic. But I Love, Love a good J-45! Although the AJ is Rosewood back and sides, most of the time I prefer Mahogany. You have a beautiful sounding and looking J-45!!
This is one of the best J45 demos I've ever heard. I am currently in the market for one but find it hard to communicate to shops what I'm looking for. How would you describe this particular one? It's exceptional from what I can hear but not sure how I'd describe it to a shop that has 10 to pick from. Thanks for any insight you can pass along
Sorry I missed you comments and question until now. Hopefully you have found a J-45 or other guitar you are happy with. In my experience they can vary widely in tone and volume, particularly from different decades. Recent ones are often good. I would describe this guitar/ ask for one that is warm and full, balanced bass and treble, fat trebles, light weight, open and responsive. Cheers!
Thanks! This and a Martin 000-15m are very different. 000-15m is smaller and woodier/darker sounding (one of my favorites). The J-45 is bigger, louder and brighter.
Thanks Gilbert. Similar in that they both have the sitka over mahogany sound, but otherwise very different in sound and feel. J-45 is a bit brighter, punchier and more balanced tonally, re-imagined D-18 is more bass heavy and lush sounding. J-45 slope shoulder body and shorter scale length a bit more comfortable in my opinion. Both are great. See my videos with D-18's to compare. Cheers!
I absolutely love this guitar and the sound but financially I'm not in a position to make that type of purchase. I think the inspired by Gibson j45 is the best option. I don't like any of the walnut stuff. And that new Inspired by Epi sounds incredible for the price. which is a third of the price. Maybe one day I'll get the real deal. in the meantime ill focus on improving my fingerstyle and flat picking 😅
The problem one encounters when shopping for Gibson acoustics is the small number of dealers who carry them these days. You can order one from a big internet retailer, but you cannot sit and play, for instance, several J-45's and pick out one that you like, unless you live within reasonable distance to a well stocked Gibson dealer. In some states there simply are none. No 2 acoustic guitars sound exactly the same - no 2 Gibsons, no 2 Martins, etc. But everybody and his brother carries Martins and Taylors. Gibsons are scarce as hens teeth.
I hear you Bob. I live in a small town without near access to well- stocked guitar shops, so I often rely on the online site Reverb, for used and new guitars, but always best to try them in person when you can. Thanks for watching.
Nice guitar and playing . I have a 2017 cutaway model .Love the tone , fit and finish and playability . As far as affordability these guitars are bargains . All the guitars by martin and taylor in this price range are made in Mexico and are sub par next to these Gibsons .
You must be thinking about a Gibson G45 which in no way sounds as good as this Standard J45. This is a great guitar but at close to 3 grand not affordable. Martin and Taylor standard series guitars similar to the J45 are all made in the US not Mexico
@@robf7213 I have a j45 Avant Guarde model which has a thinner body and tapered neck , walnut sides and neck ,made in the USA . They only made them a couple of years .
@@riviecc Your guitar sound similar to a Gibson J 15 studio or J45 studio with the thinner body with walnut back and sides played a few of those and wasn’t really impressed. Maybe yours is different haven’t heard of your model before. The J 15 standard was a good guitar and value but they discontinued it to make the inferior G45. IMHO the Martin 15 series is the best value American made guitar under 1500. I think if someone really wanted a J45 I would tell them to save up for the real thing. If you a get good one they are amazing and will last a lifetime. But to each their own.
@@robf7213 Your right , They started calling them studios , Not quite a standard j45 , Its generaly a differant guitar , much more chimey . I love the neck the comfort of the body , and like I said its a much better guitar then anything I played in that price range in my opinion and its made in the USA . Also sounds good plugged in and great for gigs with not to much worry of banging it up . . Like you said I would always recomend buying the J 45 standard if you can afford it , but at the 1500 price point I would rcommend the J45 avant guarde which is made in tge USA Montana factory over the other American brands that no longer make there intermediate level guitars in the USA

Good choice James!

Great sounding guitar, Todd.
Nice and warm sounding Guitar...this is a great one, I've got a few great sounding Gibson's too...
Thanks Dale. Yes it is a good one, I've had a few and this one sounds the best to me. Good for you owning a few great ones, cheers!
Sounds almost as good as my Gibson inspired Epiphone J45! Very, Very nice. Thank you.
Thanks! I've heard good things about the inspired by Gibsons. Thanks for watching.
Just discovered this channel. Todd, You Is Good! Lovely rhythm.
Thank you Otis, glad you like it! Cheers!
Love this

Cheers and thanks for watching
One fine review. It sounds super and great playing man . Tell me what strings you have on it . Thanks !
Thanks Jeffery! Glad you liked it. The strings are Elixir light gauge phos. bronze nanoweb.
Cristal clear sound, May ask what kind of string did you use of this j45?
He looked like a singer…still waiting…btw I was contemplating on buying this ax…so cool ty
Yep, he is a singer...check out the other videos on my channel. Get one of the newer J-45's, better lately, in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
man i love that sound. Should do a lesson on your little noodle at the start that was awesome
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I liked your 2017 Martin better. This one sounds 'harsh'?
I like that u capo it, we have to do this slot and it is a factor.

Beautiful sound! I almost got a J45 but got a Gibson Songwriter instead. Ever try one?
Thanks Vincent! No, I havent tried a Songwriter, bet its nice.
Great Guitar and playing Todd!
I have a 2019 and absolutely love it.
You may want to try Monels. They pair really well with a J45.
Best of luck!
Thanks Michael! and for the string suggestion. Cheers
Nice
What do you think of it? I love the heck outta mine. Nice playing
Thanks Mike, yeah I like it alot, probably the best J-45 I've played/heard except for a 1940's that was amazing.
Hi Todd, thank you for your demo. how do you find the quality of your J45 ? thanks
Hi Stephan- I no longer own it, but I was impressed with the build quality, sound and playability. One of the best J-45's I have played.
@@toddvossmusic7833 thank you Todd
