It's not so much that it touches you, many singers can touch you that way, at least for me anyway, but what's so rare is that he does it so consistently. I was watching another vocal coach react which is also good, Rozette on CZmedia channel, which you might've seen too. She has a great analysis and very honest reaction and comments while also giving such an honest insight into how listening to these music is like to someone from a completely different culture, other than just saying it's good. She's a fan of ZhouShen too after doing reaction videos of him. But she said one thing I didn't quite agree with, and it's that the humaness of his singing, that sincerity that we listeners hear is from the solid vocal techniques, I mean that definitely help, but when you think about it, he's really not the only one with good technique, and singers much less capable as him in terms of vocal abilities can also sing a truly touching song. And there are singers too who has songs and performances that touches epoeples heart and soul deeply. But the difference is, he's able to do it so consistently, and especially singing covers. Because if youre the writer of the song and you sing it that way, people would think yeah, that makes sense they relate to it personally. But ZHouShen is so genuine when he sings and he gives his all, all the time to not only sing well technically but also to relate and connect to the song. Some people will always feel that it's going to be more touching when the singer write their own song, I mean to some extent, if ZhouShen sang a song where he did the lyrics and the music too entirely, I can't wait for it. But it's really not true, because lyrics even if it's not yours can resonate with you deeply. But ZhouShen has a way of empathising with lyrics even if he may not have that personal experience. And I believe It really comes from within, from him as a person who is able to empathise with others that well, and it comes through in his singing. I think what's so special about him is that, a lot of unique attributes that I see in a number of my favourite singers, are all in him, all at once. I would want him to get global recognition, but I wouldn't mind if he doesn't because music is after all subjective. The way I wouldn't have mind even if he weren't so versatile, because if he sang more chinese style, folk kinda song like Big fish, he still would've bene one of my favourite singers. But that genre is not for everyone and the reason he's so popular now is largely due to his versatility, so people who normally wouldn't really listen to songs like big fish gets to know him too.

Yes, it wouldn’t matter what he saying to me it could be any of those genres. But the versatility of him is impeccable. I just would love to have him come to the US. I would go see him in a heartbeat, whether I know the language or not it doesn’t matter.

The Butterfly Lovers were from the famous “The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto” composed in 1959, said to be the first violin concerto composed in China. Zhou Shen’s voice took the part of the violin, and seamlessly carried the tune to perfection.
Thank you for the great reactions! I can really recommend Charlies duets with Hacken Lee, who is a famous cantonese singer. They appeared together on a duet show which they eventually won. Then someone recommended ShenShen to the director, after contacted he then realised that ShenShen was in Europe at THAT very moment filming a show , actually they were within 1m of each other I think After confirmation, they did the recording of this score in ShenShen vocal range for him to sing.
