Goddess of the wired, she doesnt have amnesia- its somewhat open to interpretation that the real life lain becomes disassociated with her online persona/ego who then manifests itself into reality- and one of the two either doesn't make it or subsumes the body of the other. Eventually leading to her Goddess of the internet like state where she lives on perpetually inside the wired (internet) It may be that the real life lain dies- and the digital version of her lives on inside her- subsuming the corpse or overloaded brain of the real 'human' lain which is why she never ages and stays the same in the ending scene years later... or perhaps the digital ego/persona is just powerful enough at that time to manifest independent of a real body to puppeteer.
