    I’m wondering if you change the brake sensitivity, if that helps smooth things out when the Drone is in bypass mode? I found this to be a very helpful video by the way. I’ve always found the expo settings a bit confusing and haven’t messed with them much until I watched this.

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think Brake sensitivity affects the bypass mode, as I did a test on low brake sensitivity and obstacle avoidance and it makes no difference there (ie it still stops fast if there's an obstacle)

    The title implies that it’s the Air 3 but really it’s anything with the RC2 controller - or even the App. That could be loads of aircraft?

    Surely there's a way to smooth things out when selecting "bypass" as obstacle avoidance, right? I mean, why would we need to part with the most fun, image-gathering obstacle avoidance option just because of "controls nervousness"?...Any ideas?

    • @IaninLondon
      @IaninLondon  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's jumpy when you touch the sticks, but Bypass Mode is still a valid mode to fly in. Personally I would trust the drone to always bypass obstacles successfully though and you usually only crash these once.

    Great video Ian, the Gain and Expo settings on the new drones are somewhat confusing to beginners and this explains it very well. I couldn't figure out why my Air 3 moved so aggressively even when I changed all of my settings to buttery smooth but you gave away the secret, obstacle avoidance. I can't for the life of me figure out why that makes all the difference even when there's no obstacles at all surrounding the drone.
    Anyhow, thanks for the explanation

    Ian, Thank You so much for your detailed explanations. The link you shared with me last week to your Air 2S settings I applied them all. But still had jerky movements. I didn't want to reach out to you again as you had already been so helpful. I just thought it was something to do with the sensitivity of the sticks on the controller and would have to stop being heavy handed. This new video has resolved everything with regard to smooth footage so "Thank You". I had my avoidance set to Bypass hence the jerky attitude of the Air 3S. I am so relieved that you figured it out. As one of my core content providers I look forward to many more of your training videos on the Air 3. I started my Drone Journey back in 2019 at the age of 70 with a DJi Mini moving through different iterations to my new Air 3 today. Thanks to your content and in depth reviews and lessons you have taken me on a wonderful journey of exploration. I just need to master editing I use Luma Fusion on my iPad Pro there is so much to learn and as i am older it takes a while to sink in. Ha Ha. Take Care. Nigel G

    Does the Brake vs Bypass sensitivity affect all DJI Drones or just the Air 3? Pressed the button on one of these last night after the initial reccommendations from several 'content creators' against it. Turns out they may have been a bit premature or not tested thoroughly. Thanks Ian.

      It was equally rough with the Mavic 3, but they did a firmware update to calm it down a bit. I find all dji models display a jumpy tendency in Bypass Mode.

      You need to opt for a package that uses the RC-N2 remote (ie the remote without a screen) and link to your iPad that way. I don't believe it's possible (or at least easy) to use an i-pad on the RC remote with screen.

    Thanks for your recommendations for gain and expo, Ian. I always test them out as soon as I see what you have in mind. (I currently use a value of 35 for angular velocity in Normal Mode which has worked fairly well.) I will try out the Brake Mode for obstacle avoidance, although I am curious if you might use Bypass Mode when using Active Track. I appreciate your advice and find it much more helpful than the advice Polonius gave Laertes. I am having great fun with the Air 3. Cheers from Wisconsin, my friend.
