The ending was disappointing. The makers really took a brave step. Otis and Maeve's wasn't just an attraction. They truly loved each other and didn't want to hold each other behind. This show and their story will always remain in my heart! ❤
This is the ending that is most realistic. It's very similar to normal People's ending. It's how life goes and this is the happy ending for both of them
One of my favorite shows disappointed in this season. But sad they didn’t end up together but not surprised. This season was expecting more big bang to end it. Part of me wanted them to be together but not surprised they didn’t

Otis and Maeve truly admired and loved one another. The scenes they had together were some of the best in the entire show, and it’s a shame the way the show ended the way it did. They deserved to be together and happy 😭

She's pining for him and it proves there's going to be a conclusion to wrap up this arc. The writers inevitably foreseen disappointment in the audience and will guarantee their viewership when they wrap this story up in a spin-off or movie. Kind of like netflix did with breaking bad.
I think this was the most realistic ending that could have happened. That being said, I think we don't want it to be realistic! We already have our real lives for that. We watch shows like that to make us cling onto that little bit of hope and make us feel a little better inside. A happy ending would be nice either between Maeve/Ruby, I guess we can only hope something works out down the line for the characters

I don't think they really gave Ruby a closure either? Like, she still seemed heartbroken in some scenes, and they decided to end their friendship with one scene at the end. Whatever. As much as Maeve and Otis were great they just had very diverging paths and if real life is any indicator that usually doesn’t end well. I honestly hated Otis and Maeve's relationship. After a while it just felt like it was dragging on and on. What really did it for me was in season 4 when Otis stated being afraid that Maeve wouldn't come back, that she would leave him behind. She assured him she was coming back but when the possibility of getting the apprenticeship came up it was like, "Well I changed my mind." Seriously? I don't know, I always felt Maeve never saw Otis in her future but he served as someone she needed at the time. Not saying she didn't love him, but someone to fill the emptiness in her heart.

There’s only a few scenes that I really enjoyed, the whole Otis and Maeve storyline this season sucked, like why couldn’t they end up together. I totally understand the Maeve wanting to go back to America and finishing her writing course but I honestly believe her and Otis are endgame and should’ve ended up together. The whole last season seemed really pointless to me, where was the character growth, we don’t see where the characters end up, if they passed their exams, their careers, nothing, they could’ve just ended with S3 and that would’ve been better. I needed more Otis and Maeve scenes, they seemed to go back and forth this season, like they couldn’t make their minds up if they wanted to be together, be jealous, or fight about stupid stuff. Considering they took 3 whole seasons to get together and it’s what the fans wanted, they basically fight, apologise and then are together for a bit and then break up in the second last episode you would think that the writers would do a better job, and make them a priority this season. I just felt like the whole Otis and Maeve storyline just took a back seat this season, which was so disappointing to see, they should’ve been endgame, such a horrible way to end a phenomenal series!
Finished it early Monday and been in a depressive state since. An ending where they are both indefinitely apart was sour writing and felt forced due to season 4 uncontrollably being the last. Then the letter at the end completely shuts off any possible after fantasy of Otis being with Maeve in the states or Maeve returning after completing the course. The writing for it was definitely changed or not pre written post season 3 as there was so many new side characters and old leaving.
I was hoping for a great season to end on a high note. Just felt lackluster. Felt everything was rush. Hope the make a movie of the show for a better ending

I'm surprised so many people wanted them to finish together. Their chemistry felt kind of forced somewhere between the end of season 2 and the start of season 3. They played the will they / won't they card for so long that they've build up way too much awkward interactions and all kind of betrayals or misunderstanding at that point that I wasn't buying it by that time. The show miraculously got it right with Maeve's letter at the end after 2 seasons of grasping straws in the dark and a disastrous 4th season for me. The letter moment should have come at the end of season 2 and explore the growth of both character outside that missed relationship in the last two seasons. Both had fear of commitment and serious relationship. Both cracked the heart of each to be open about it. We just lingered too much on that. Should have explored those deep issues, specially with Otis. I think there was a lot of missed opportunities to truly mend his deep wounds with his parents relationship and in parallel his lack of commitment with Ruby when the show kept showing us how more meaningful Ruby really was and how simple and caring Otis and her were, while Otis still having issues. I think the missed opportunity was there instead. And I won't talk about the rest of season 4.
Staying together does not mean being happy. Moreover nothing is permanent in this world but what remains same in love, respect and memories people have. I wish Otis and Maeve would end up together but it was clear as sky that it was not working. So love the ending. As it reminds me 'heard melodies are sweet but those unheard are sweeter'. 😢

Hell, even S3 beginning could've been great, but nope, they kept putting them with other characters for unnecessary drama to the point where half of the fandom started shipping Ruby & Otis together (before that everyone in the fandom had one main ship). Truly tragic. Lucifer and Chloe used to get me frustrated with their "will they, won't they", but that show had a proper ending.
