the whole logic behind the watchers is weak anyways, as they exist in the universe, by not interfering they are interfering... also, you can take the quantum physics route, where observing an event actually changes the event. the watchers watching would effect wave particle duality, when light was a wave vs a particle, light would skew across the cosmos in different ways that would then effect real life events. So in my opinion the watchers are very misguided...

Comic characters like the Watcher was one of the reasons I stopped reading DC as a kid. I remember watching the moon landing on TV, while reading a Marvel comic with Galactus having a conversation with the Watcher convincing Galactus to not consume the earth. Marvel improved my third grade reading level, and blew my mind as well. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby took comics to a new level.

@@zackery5678 i started with donny cates his runs. And just watch some vids for background knowledge. Otherwise old f4 are good. 48 till 50 origins of galactus. Or early avengers etc.
Comics definitely were definitely vital for my vocabularies development as a kid. Apocalypses dialogue alone made me fall in love with words and eloquent speech.
In the video game Marvel: Ultimate alliance, there was a story beat that introduces Uatu. That’s when I realized there was a very cool, deep lore in comics. I never read any, but that introduction is what got me into a deeper experience with Marvel.
Loved that game. Best game ever.
This is the same story for my intro to the bigger marvel picture. Literally looked up ultimate alliance cutscenes right after I finished this video cuz it reminded me of it lol

@@SocraticMind89 That's a hell of a line up. Cap is the weakest of the group if you don't factor in his leadership and tactical abilities. Wolverine protects Thor while he unleashes lightning, Spider-man keeps the zone safe with hit and run tactics, and Cap stays in the back calling shots and protecting the flanks.

The Watcher is the type of guy to witness you getting jumped in a fight and give you that dead cold stare, knowing he won't do a damn thing to stop it.
He's an observant bystander.

I can't really explain it but Uatu has always been a favorite of mine. Especially after the issue with Sam visiting him. He strikes me as a tragic figure, who is noble and caring but mostly just sometimes lonely. He wants to interact so very much, but does his best to honor his oath. I'd say proof of that is how he not only answers Sam ("He's alive.") but also at the end puts Sam's visiting gift on display in his collection. 😍
I loved seeing Stan lee annoy the watchers in the mcu, hopefully they’ll make another appearance soon

One of the best things about it channel is I've been reading comics for over 30 years, but no battery how much knowledge i may have about anything particular, you always got some info i didn't know. Not only do you have that info but the way you deliver is always fun and sucks me in fully

Would you believe that Uatu is my favorite Marvel character? I loved What If as a kid, and I loved reading his narration and thoughts and admiration for the heroes of Earth. And his various cameos in other books were exciting, especially when he intervened, even if in just seemingly small ways that really made all the difference.

Glad you made this. Its better than my poor attempt at sharing knowledge to friends of mine that did not grow up reading comics but are all interested in the MCU now. They watched the movies initially because I recommended watching them a dozen years ago but now, in addition to my enthusiasm for the Marvel stories, are enjoying the films on their own merits.
Thank you! Easier to explain with visuals and a cohesive historical review of The Watcher than my ramblings! Plus, I don't know much about him after the 2000s. Now I do!

Well I love the cosmic side of Marvel. I wanna see Eternity, The Living Tribunal and so much more. Im so excited for Eternals because we finally get to see Celestials.
The creators of Watcher in Marvel Comics needs a standing ovation. I have no idea where did they get this idea? There are some mentions of Watchers in Vedic or Pre-Vedic Scriptures. Don't know if they got these ideas from there.
If you look closely you can actually find something similar to the Watchers in most ancient lore. Even the ancient Babylonians and Simmurians(sp?) had the Chroniclers...

I never really bought into Uatu getting killed so easily. By a mortal. Or even losing an eye to the group of losers that invaded his lair on the moon. You’re talking about a cosmic immortal capable of foreseeing every possible outcome and reality who can teleport anywhere, render himself undetectable and intangible and could avoid fighting if he wanted to without harm. They should have at least had him go down swinging in style and losing in a manner with much better writing.
In Marvel Zombies Return, Ant-Man bit The Watcher in half and in the end, he just reformed with the explanation of "You can't kill me, I am eternal." So yeah, if a GIANT FRICKIN ZOMBIE can't kill The Watcher, I don't buy for a second that a bullet from Nick Fury could.

My favorite story with the Watcher is Earth X and Universe X: Heralds (I think it’s called)
These stories are indeed the most intriguing use of the Watcher(s). His role as a mentor, manipulator, antagonist, but ultimately broken and shamed is all wonderfully addressed in an understated way.

Dude, there’s never a marvel topic you’ve discussed that I’m like “yeah, that’s cool but I’m not interested”, literally every time I see something marvel related, especially things that are obscure or less known, I’m down to watch a video on it.
You REALLY need to look and read the trilogy of the early 1900’s stories of “John Carpenter.”
These individuals have been mentioned before the Marvel era.
After what if episode 8, I now care about the Watcher....

It is kind of funny how Silver Surfer has been provided in the movies already (Fantastic Four) but Galactus has not yet been seen (except that weird destruction cloud worm which made no sense).

The Watchers are the ones who take you the viewer along on a glimpse into alternative universes, unseen and unnoticed by that other universe's denizens, whereby one crucial moment of divergence happened compared to events in the mainstream Marvel Universe (Earth 616).
FUN FACT: The Watchers' powers of multiversal observation are so great, they often addressed you the comic book reader directly! Before She-Hulk, before Deadpool, there was the Watcher breaking the fourth wall.

That’s one of the things with this upload. He might better be called a record keeper, but he had moments where he actually got his hands dirty. I’d strongly recommend reading the 6-issue story arch, “Time-Quake”; it’s perhaps some of the best ‘What If..??’ has to offer.

Uatu was really cool in the Earth X trilogy. Especially as a counterpoint to Machine Man. He was a bit of an arse and was a great character there because of it.

I love and hate how sci-fi writers tend to write highly advanced races with simplistic rules and concepts.
The Watchers just watch in an attempt not to effect or influence anything.

I especially love the part where the Watchers put Uatu on trial for breaking the rule of only watching instead of just watching him break the rule. But by their act of putting him on trial they themselves are now interfering with Earth's destiny because Uatu has already involved himself in Earth's outcome. Pretty much making them all now guilty of the crime they accuse the watcher of. 😂
Some principles simply cannot be adhered to as intended. For example, from a legal perspective, wouldn't the entire race of Watchers be considered criminals by virtue of their inaction? Maybe it just depends who is judging whom...
