It fits Mafuyus mom so perfectly in that way since Mafuyu is clearly aware something isnt right, yet she struggles with leaving it behind, as her mother keeps bringing mafuyu bsck to her somehow.
This captures the sense of a manipulative or emotionally abusive parent so perfectly. What should have been love, twisted into something so monstrous and uneasy.
