    Great job on the video. Loved Andy giving a breakdown on his hunt, pure excitement and one of the many reasons we love to get out into the bush for moments like this!!

      Haha thanks Dennis, yeah that catch up at camp was a classic one. I watched the whole series for the first time since editing it all together and I think that camp scene is one of my favourites. So raw

    That is gold, I love Andy’s re-enactment of the events shooting the stag, you can tell he was busting to tell his story to someone, if that doesn’t encourage any young budding Sambar hunters to get out there nothing will.👍

    That’s what it’s all about. Your faces tell the story. Congratulations Andy on securing a pisser Sambar stag. Hard work pays off. You guys executed the plan and your team work paid off. Great footage once again Jamie.

      Thanks again Rob, I am so pleased to have captured the camp convo with Andy as I stumbled in under headtorch! I just knew that he would be dying to tell his story and its moments like those that totally make a trip for me!! I have hunted solo before and that's got its upside too, but sharing a camp and hearing stories like Andy's one just brings such a smile, and to me epitomises what it's all about. And yes It was great to see the plan pay dividends, after all, the process had started several months earlier and having flown from Perth with out having the advantage of local knowledge means that days like this one are cherished

      I really appreciate and feel your appreciation for this beautiful country. I am lucky enough to live in the Yarra Valley and don't have far to travel to experience all the Bush has to offer. Sambar, birds, fauna.... Its a good part of the world.

      Thanks Chris, it was killing us that we were not able to assess the animal that night around the camp fire. I've been in the same situation with Andre Alipate after I shot a big red stag in the Southern Alps on last light and had to spend the night playing what if and guess the size games; its agonizing. And the longer the night wears on the seemingly bigger and grander the animal and the story gets haha.

    • @MountainMan_NZ
      @MountainMan_NZ  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Daz, I seen a couple of ~27s at between 450 and 500m but by the time I got closer they had moved off into the bush and bedded down and never showed again that evening; one of them looked reasonably solid but not overly heavy...

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MountainMan HuntingFilms great times. It's often the case up there, as your forced to move along most of the time your walking past one good deer to find another. We might have to take a month off and just sit in there hey 😉

    • @MountainMan_NZ
      @MountainMan_NZ  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IntotheMountains totally, we barely scratch the surface in terrain like this and see only a fraction of what's there. And despite probing down the spurs and any faces or ledges to work thr angles, there is still so much that we can never really properly assess. Noteithstanding the bush and flats below!
