Thank you for sharing so many practicle tips that most cake decorators would not share. I’ve been making cakes for almost 7 years and the pins on the dummy cake just blowed my mind!
This was so detailed. I am so tires of trying to find someone to print edible images, especially last min. Thank you ao much. I am buying one this week... 😊
I did the same thing for a while and ended up spending more paying other people rather than just getting the system. It really was one of the best investments I've made for my business!
Hi Karolyn. Thank you so much for sharing all your tips and advice on edible images. I have 2 questions. First, where do you find images to print, Especially for character cakes? Second, do you prefer Wafer paper or Icing sheets? Thank you in advace! I will def be using your affiliate link when ordering from Icing images!
Thank you so much for your videos! I’ve been making cakes for over 25yrs, but I’ve been intimidated to try new technologies like the edible printers. But you have made this seem like something worth trying. I’m so excited, thank you again!! 🥰❤️
👏🏼 I’ve been looking for a great video that explains everything! I’m so happy I found your video! I’ve been looking for a printer for a while now. Thank you for sharing!
I’m so excited 😆 I was inspired by you to get my printer from Icing Images & it comes today! I ordered two days ago… Pennsylvania must be close. Thanks I’m enjoying you sharing your expertise to help me grow!
Yayyyy!! It really is the best! Just make sure you religiously print tester sheets (I set a weekly alarm in my phone to remind me) to keep the ink flowing through the system!
Thank you so much for showing so thoroughly the process of applying edible image. I would be really greatfull if you could tell me where you got the edible paper to print on or what its called please. Thank you.
I got it at IcingImages.com! I get all of my edible printing supplies there. I believe I linked it in the description. (I'm not affiliated with them, I just love that company.)
Good morning, I love your videos and thank you for all the tips. I just bought my printer canon ts702 but I'm not sure which edible cartridge is compatible with canon . HELP pls 🙏 thank you.
Hi! I get my edible cartridges at Icing Images. Where you get the cartridges, you can input your printer model number and it will tell you which ones work. I use 280 and 281 with mine. But I would just go to the site and enter it to be sure! shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1817175&u=2948238&m=113258&urllink=&afftrack= Click the link above, then on the site, click EDIBLE INK, then EDIBLE INK CARTRIDGES AND SETS, then enter the model number (TS702) in the box and see if it says the same thing!
Hello and thank you very much for this video. I have been desperately needing a printer and didnt even know where to start. Im no longer scared to make the decision of which one to get. Lol so thanks again. I just have one question, are the cartridges that come with the printer refillable?
It seems intimidating, but it is super easy, you just have to make sure you keep up with the weekly printing and maintenance so it doesn't get clogged. The cartridges that come with it are refillable 3 times before you have to get new ones. So make sure you have extra ink and cleaning supplies on hand!
Thanks for this helpful video. Quick question have you ever printed in advance of an order? If so how do you store it and how long can you keep it for?
I have, but no longer than a week in advance. I store them in the silver envelopes that the icing sheets come in. If you don't have those, you can store it in a ziplock bag (I usually use 2...slide one on one end and the other bag on the other end because the sheet is longer than the bag).
I just recently found your channel and have enjoyed watching every video. Your tutorials are so informative. It makes me want to unsubscribe to some of the others. I am in the process of researching different edible printers and I will definitely check out the company you purchased yours from. Thanks again. You are the bomb.🥰
This was so informative I love it! Definitely subscribed and turned on post notifications 😊 Do you know if you can print from a laptop with the printer?
Hey btw I just want to say I am greatful for you. I have one question as I am doing my research of edible printers. I am a beginner and wouldn't use the printer often I see you said use it weekly or it will clog. Does that mean I shouldn't purchase one if I'm using it once or twice a month?
You can purchase one, you just have to print a tester page every week to keep the ink running through the system. It's really a judgement call, do you use edible images enough that you'd want a printer? Or do you want to pay someone else to print them for you? I was doing the latter until I started using them so much, that it made sense for me to invest in the system.
Yayyy!!! You don't have to clean after every use. Just if it's not printing correctly. Here's a video showing how I clean the print head: th-cam.com/video/WvF2Xp8FoKA/w-d-xo.html
Do you have one on one virtual classes or in person? I live in North Carolina. I did my first edible image on a cake but the image cracked in the middle and i don't know why. I looked it up but i haven't found anything to tell me why.
Thank you very much for this video 😀 I got the same printer ts702 for Christmas , and I am intimidated I don’t know where to start🤔 Did you have to purchase Microsoft word
Microsoft Word came installed on my computer (through Microsoft Office). It is a program that you have to purchase if your computer doesn't already have it. And it's just a learning process with the new system, you'll get used to it after working with it for a little bit! I have an entire playlist dedicated to Edible Printer tutorials on here to help you. 🙂
It's a setting you have to do through your computer. Not on the printer! So you have to go to the printer setup on your computer and do it that way. You can google it as I don't remember how off the top of my head!
Do you always put the image on fondant. I'm doing a cake and going to use this printer and nervous putting the paper on icing. Do you recommend putting on fondant first
I personally prefer putting the images on fondant, it provides a layer of protection and keeps it from wrinkling. Here is a video explaining that! th-cam.com/video/nu4pWkBH1Fo/w-d-xo.html
Hi! I was wondering why does my printer draw the papers from that bottom drawer instead from the top - like in this video, do you happen to know how to fix that?
Icing sheets are thicker and better for decorations that you adhere to fondant or wrap on a cake. The wafer sheets are thinner and more delicate, best used for decorations like butterflies or flowers.
You're welcome! It seems like it should be intimidating, but it's really super easy! You just have to make sure you keep printing so the ink doesn't clog the printer head and stay aware of the ink levels in the cartridges!
Hello !! Thank you. I have a question, im new at this. My question is, everything that is printed it had to be placed on fundet or it can also be placed just on the cake regards the frosting? Thank you and hope you could help me with my question :)
Hi Nancy! You can either put them on fondant or directly onto the buttercream. Here is a video explaining why I like to put them on fondant! th-cam.com/video/nu4pWkBH1Fo/w-d-xo.html
Hi maam thank you so much for this video. You are a blessing. May i ask do you have a circuit machine? If not the circuit maker print and cuts for you..
Hi! Icing Images actually recommends you use their iPrint system to print. But I found that wasn't necessary. I'm sure you can use whatever program you have to print. Try it out on a tester page (regular paper) before you print on an icing sheet to see if it works!
I think they have more updated models now. I got the Platinum Plus Printer System. They may not make the exact model I have anymore, but they are all very similar!
Thank you Camilla! I say it every time I print something, it's the best! The printer I have now (the one I used in this video) prints beautiful pictures and is so easy to use. And it was only $199 for the printer and supplies in the bundle when I bought it!
It can go directly onto the treats. The main reason I put it on a piece of fondant is to prevent it from wrinkling and to add an extra layer of protection so the ink doesn't fade or bleed.
You have to use one that never had toxic ink running through it. Even if you clean it out, there is still toxic residue in there and someone could get really sick if they eat that!
I have put the images on cakes up to 4 days in advance and haven't had any issues. I store all of my cakes in the refrigerator, so the images are on the cakes in the fridge. If you print them out and want to store them while not on the cake, I recommend keeping them in a ziplock bag. The best storage bag is the silver envelope that the icing sheets come in (I always keep them), but most people don't have those. I wouldn't print them more than 5 days in advance as the colors could start to fade or the icing sheet could start to dry out. You want to make sure that if it's hot / humid, you GRADUALLY bring the cake to room temp, especially if you have an edible image on it so it doesn't sweat. Condensation on the cake could ruin the image. I hope that helps!
You don't have to put it on fondant. I just prefer to do it that way because I feel like it holds its shape better and is less prone to tearing. But you can definitely just stick it to buttercream! I always use a little piping gel, make sure you get the piping gel all around the edges so they stick to the buttercream and won't curl up.
Your image came out great! You've got a new subscriber! I just recently received the same printer and my edible images come out dull and dark. Lots of fourms say to adjust the "intensity" in the color management of the printer settings but I don't have that option. Does your printer settings have the "intensity" option?
Hi Akeshia! I actually haven't used that setting, but from doing some research, it looks like there is an intensity setting. I am going to look into it, I printed an image last week and the black turned out more of a navy blue. So it would be nice if there was an adjustment that could be made.
@@KarolynsKakes that sucks! Let me know what you find out. I have even tried printing in PDF format because that format reads CMYK colors better, but to no avail. I'm having difficulty with an almost hot pink color that keeps coming out purple. If I find anything, I'll be sure to share it as well. It can be a pain sometimes 😄
I actually used to order from one of my local cake friends since she had the printer system. But then I found that I was spending so much money (and time driving to her) that it was more cost effective for me to invest in my own printer. And once I had it, I started using edible images way more on my cakes!
You have to set up the printer settings through your computer. Here's a video that Icing Images made showing what to do! th-cam.com/video/eDFAfxtvW54/w-d-xo.html
I have put them on a few days before serving and it has been okay! I only use Icing Images products though, I'm not sure if other brands will last as long.
Sure! I have the Icing Images Platinum Entry Level Edible Printer System. Here's my link to the site! Click EDIBLE PRINTING and it is the first one on the list. shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1817175&u=2948238&m=113258&urllink=&afftrack=
You don't have to. I just find that when you adhere the image to fondant that it keeps its shape. It doesn't warp or wrinkle. But you can stick it directly onto a cake without the fondant on the back.
Girl I need to ask you a question, I have a alot of edible images to put on a cake my question is can I cut them out ahead of time because that would really save me some time the cake is do for July 3, 2021 please let me know THANK YOU!😄 I would very much appreciate it!
You can! Do you keep the silver envelopes that the sheets come in? Just cut them out and store them in there until you’re ready to use them. If you don’t have the envelope, then use 2 or 3 ziplock backs so they won’t dry out.
@@KarolynsKakes Thank you my friend, yes I do keep the silver envelopes thanks to you I took your advice to keep them, store very well, YOU'RE THE BEST!!😘
Thank you so so much for the wonderful tutorial and yes the price has doubled! Darn Covid! I was wondering is a cricket or a cutting machine needed especially when you’re doing multiple images like for cupcakes or is it cheaper to invest in the punchers like if someone needed to print 100.. 3 inch round for cupcakes or cookies it’s a lot of cutting to do LOL thank you again you are a true blessing! trying to start a small teeny baking business and I’ve worked with icing sheets before but I just order them was thinking on getting an edible printing system..
A cricut is a good option, I am going to be learning how to work with that, but I don't really have experience with it yet. However, I did just make some round cupcake images, which I used a 2" round punch cutter to cut them out. Super easy!
@@KarolynsKakes thank you so much before anything I have to see your work is amazing! I had a friend gift me the Martha Stewart cricket I am very computer illiterate I’m almost intimidated but I heard it helps a lot with cutting especially with big orders thank you again🙏
You can't use a printer that has had regular ink run through the system. Like if you want to take the regular cartridges out of your printer and put edible ones in there...you should not do that. Regular printer ink is toxic and is in the printer head. If you print out an edible image on a printer that had regular ink in it, the toxic ink is still in that printer. And you don't want anyone to eat the toxic ink. So I have a printer that is completely separate from the one I use for everyday use. My edible printer is ONLY used for my edible images. No regular ink has (or ever will be) in that printer. I hope that makes sense!
hey! wondering if you're still loving this printer two years later and if it's held up! anything you don't like about it or would have changed if you had a chance to buy a different one?
Yessss!! I still have this one and I use it weekly and love it! I have to maintain it. I've had to unclog the printhead a few times. But as long as I am diligent about printing test pages, I rarely have issues! I have an alarm in my phone that goes off every Tuesday at 11:30am to remind me to print a test page.
Thank you! I usually don't apply the edible images directly to buttercream cakes. If you are in a humid climate and the cake starts to sweat, it could ruin the image. So you just have to be really careful. And whipped cream has a high water content and the edible image definitely won't last long on that.
I believe there are cricuts that work with the edible images but I’ve never used it so I’m not sure. You can check the Icing Images website I believe they have them.
There is a lot of water in whipped cream, which can ruin the edible images. So I wouldn't recommend it. You may be able to do it if you put the image on fondant (like I did in this video) and then put it on the whipped cream right before serving. But I wouldn't leave it on too long just in case it ruins the image. If you try it, please let me know how it goes!
I believe you can use the flex frost sheets found on IcingImages.com website to print and put on chocolate. I don't think the regular edible paper I used in this video would work on chocolate.
Thank you so much this was very informative. I am going to buy one for my business. And I really like watching your videos. And I have to say I love how you say “water” just like me lol.
I'm not sure if it will work without a computer. The only thing I can think of is if you have a printer that is compatible with a smart phone, you might be able to print from your phone. But again, I am not sure if that will work.
It's 100% edible. However, I personally wouldn't eat it, just because I don't eat things like that LOL But kids may want to and it is safe for consumption.
I am interested in purchasing an Edible printer. Is there special ink you need to use? does it have to be an edible printer? can you use a printer just used for printing edibles? sorry to bombard you with so many questions. thank you
Hi! Yes, you must use only edible ink and only use that printer for edible images, never to be used to print with toxic ink. I have a separate edible image printer from my regular printer!
What brand icing sheets are you using? I’m using the ones that came with that same printer from IcingImages are it stays wet for very long making it hard to peel off.
@@JAY1012225 that hasn’t happened to me. After I print, I let the sheet sit on the table exposed to air for about 5-10 minutes so it can dry. Have you done that?
Yes. Mine stayed for about 30 minutes & it was still wet. I’ve watched videos on here of people using knives to remove theirs.. so I was skeptical how yours came off so nicely, lol
Hi Natasha! IcingImages.com has great printer systems. I just saw a note on their site that they had to increase the price of their printers because supply is low and hopefully soon the will be able to go back to the lower price.
My blue ink is leaking inside my printer. Not sure why this is happening 😭 all the other cartridges are working fine it’s just the blue cartridge that’s leaking inside. Can you help me fix this 😩
Oh no! It could be something wrong with the cartridge. I would contact Icing Images to troubleshoot. I've never had that happen! Was it a brand new cartridge?
I was just going to link this video in your other comment! I don't pay to use Microsoft Word, it came as a program on my computer. I have a PC (Windows operating system), not a MAC computer. I believe on a MAC, the program to print is called Page.

I already have this printer for office use can I still use it for this purpose or do I need a new one tht has never had regular ink used in it?
You have to use one that never had toxic ink running through it. Even if you clean it out, there is still toxic residue in there and someone could get really sick if they eat that!
how long does it last once its on the cake? how do you store it?
Hi, I was wondering do you have to put the image on fondant? Or could it go on top of butter cream icing?
It can be a pain sometimes 😄
love the tips 👌. Where do you get your edible paper? Thx
I get my supplies at icingimages.com!
Before you got your printing system did you ever order from a place for custom edible images?
I actually used to order from one of my local cake friends since she had the printer system. But then I found that I was spending so much money (and time driving to her) that it was more cost effective for me to invest in my own printer. And once I had it, I started using edible images way more on my cakes!
Thank you what’s the difference between Pixma TS702a inkjet ?
I'm not sure how they differ, but they are Canon printers, so they are very similar.
I have the same printer and sheets. My first time using and my image came out extremely light. Nothing compared to what I needed, any tips?
You have to set up the printer settings through your computer. Here's a video that Icing Images made showing what to do! th-cam.com/video/eDFAfxtvW54/w-d-xo.html
wondering could of cut a sonic shape on your cricut to match you editable image?
I’m not sure I don’t use cricut. I can imagine that you’d somehow be able to though!
Always so informative.
How long will the sugar image last on a cake before presenting and serving?
I have put them on a few days before serving and it has been okay! I only use Icing Images products though, I'm not sure if other brands will last as long.
If you don’t want to save so many images you can try copying image then in word use cltr v to paste it there
Yes! I've actually started doing that instead. Thank you!🙌
How long do you let it dry out on the styrofoam before you use it?
Sometimes I put them on the cake right away, sometimes I have let them dry up to 5 days. I guess it all depends on what I have going on that week!
Can you share the edible ink brand you are using? I would like to get this same printer for my business. Thanks for sharing this video!
Sure! I have the Icing Images Platinum Entry Level Edible Printer System. Here's my link to the site!
Click EDIBLE PRINTING and it is the first one on the list.

Do you have to use fondant ?
You don't have to. I just find that when you adhere the image to fondant that it keeps its shape. It doesn't warp or wrinkle. But you can stick it directly onto a cake without the fondant on the back.
such an incredibly helpful video. you speak so clearly with such specific detail. I
really appreciate you
Awwww you're so sweet! I'm glad I could help you!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Incredible helpful, I had no idea how to deal with edible images. 👏
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video.. I’m a new baker and looking to learn more tips !!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for tutorial. Where do you get images from?
How do you choose what is the best image to print?
Do you keep your printer on all day for the ink ?
No, I only turn it on when I need to print. 😊
Can we use a regular printer and add edible ink
I went to download word and it said I had to pay for it to download it lol did I do it wrong? I don’t remember having to pay for it when I was younger
It probably came with your computer back in the day. Now, you have to purchase the program separately.
Do you use edible images often?
I used to use them a few times a month, but now it seems like I use that printer every week!
Thank you the most explanable video
Where can I get this printer. I don't know what to get and I want the pictures clear
I linked the site where I got my printer in the description below!
Hi I love your work could you do a video on how to use edible images on a buttercream cake or whippy cake?
Thank you! I usually don't apply the edible images directly to buttercream cakes. If you are in a humid climate and the cake starts to sweat, it could ruin the image. So you just have to be really careful. And whipped cream has a high water content and the edible image definitely won't last long on that.
What brand of edible icing sheets do you use?
I get my supplies from Icing Images, it's linked in the description!
Do i still need a cricut if i have this printer
I believe there are cricuts that work with the edible images but I’ve never used it so I’m not sure. You can check the Icing Images website I believe they have them.
Can u put these images on whipped cream
There is a lot of water in whipped cream, which can ruin the edible images. So I wouldn't recommend it. You may be able to do it if you put the image on fondant (like I did in this video) and then put it on the whipped cream right before serving. But I wouldn't leave it on too long just in case it ruins the image. If you try it, please let me know how it goes!
Is the canon prixma ts702 the same thing?
Yes I have the Canon Pixma TS702 :)
Thank you so much for sharing this video!
Yessss girl, I love your products!
Please tell me can i use same idea to print on chocolate
I believe you can use the flex frost sheets found on IcingImages.com website to print and put on chocolate. I don't think the regular edible paper I used in this video would work on chocolate.
Is the piping gel edible?
Yes it is!
Can you show a video on placing edible image on chocolate covered treats like Rice Krispie treats, pretzels, Oreos, and candy apples
I'm sorry, but I don't make those. I bet Icing Images channel may have videos on that!
Thank you so much this was very informative. I am going to buy one for my business. And I really like watching your videos. And I have to say I love how you say “water” just like me lol.
LOL!! You from Philly?!
Hi, how will I print if I don't have computer I would love to get 1 but I need to know if it would work without computer THANKS😊
I'm not sure if it will work without a computer. The only thing I can think of is if you have a printer that is compatible with a smart phone, you might be able to print from your phone. But again, I am not sure if that will work.
@@KarolynsKakes Ok Thanks!
I just bought this same printer and it says there is a Bluetooth option to connect the printer to your phone.
From which website you found sonic picture please?
Here’s the link to the picture!

Can it be eaten or you remove it while cutting cake
It's 100% edible. However, I personally wouldn't eat it, just because I don't eat things like that LOL
But kids may want to and it is safe for consumption.
@@KarolynsKakes you can use a regular printer for regular sheets ????
Ediable sheets
What brand icing sheets are you using? I’m using the ones that came with that same printer from IcingImages are it stays wet for very long making it hard to peel off.
I use the Icing Images sheets. Do you mean the ink stays wet after you print the image?
Yes.. for a long time.
@@JAY1012225 do you live in a humid environment?
And some cupcake topper
Where can I purchase the printer from
Hi Natasha! IcingImages.com has great printer systems. I just saw a note on their site that they had to increase the price of their printers because supply is low and hopefully soon the will be able to go back to the lower price.
which website do you get your images?
Icing Images, here ya go! (This is my affiliate link)

Thank you I just made my purchase
I hope you love it as much as I do!
U educate me so much thank u
do u have to pay to use microsoft word?
I was just going to link this video in your other comment! I don't pay to use Microsoft Word, it came as a program on my computer. I have a PC (Windows operating system), not a MAC computer. I believe on a MAC, the program to print is called Page.
