I listened to Power metal and Black metal when i was at 2750m (9000ft) on the Dolomites, i also live in Italy, after a long hiking trip i rested on the top of the mountain, i started listening to black metal and after a bit the sky started to darken and cold wind blowing, while other tourists where complaining about the weather and about how they were tired i felt amazing. It was very special.
I love Summoning, is my first atmosferic band, and I discover Caladan thanks to them, but Echoes of Battles is awesome, I want more original material instead of covers. Hail from Argentina.
My input. When you are in a band, you are in a band. And you can be incredible. But when you are just in a project like Caladan Brood, Summoning, etc...you are simply divine. Thanks for such amazing music. Keep up the awesome work!!!!!
This tribute release got it all. Great songs written by a great band interpreted by other great bands. The design of the box set especially the artwork seems over the top as well. Can't wait! The only minor setback in the artwork is the clearly post-Hollywood imagery. Summing was always great at ignoring a movie ever existed in the first place. :) That is part of the fascinating which is Summoning. The concept of a band centering around a few books more or less unknown to the masses. Ignoring the hype of the movies summoning keeps reminding me of the good days where Tolkiens work was not a thing every idiot knew about. :)

My only real issue is I would've preferred the spoken word passages as opposed to the croaking shriek at the "trumpets at the gates" section. Overall, Caladan Brood prove once again why they are the true successors to Summonings mantle. Bonus points for this shit being completed in two sessions. Fuck.
If they can crank this out and consider this "rushed", then good lord these guys can work. Really makes you wonder what they can do when given however much time they need (within reason like damn I'm not trying to wait another 5 years for Caladan Brood's second album lol).

I never came closer to the core of myself. This combination of hope and melancholia was perfect. Summoning reaches out to my soul and cloaks it in misty fog. I love this music so dearly. Thank you Silenius and Protector. And Caladan Brood are the only worthy successors.

From a technical standpoint, this is a good cover version. However, when it comes to the artistic side, great covers should aspire for more than being a 1:1 remake of the original. There should be innovation and novelty and I think this version lacks both of those. I love Caladan Brood but I was a little disappointed by their newest effort.
I disagree, they don't need to add any new sections to the song or change things, they just pay hommage to Summoning by covering their song very faithfully, but with their own sound.
It's like the most talented Student paying hommage to the Master.
