Fullmetal Alchemist manga is older than Attack on Titan , so if there any similarities you can say it's from FMAB
To see the contrast of Bradley's shocked face as he's stabbed after his nonchalance as he cut the fuses off of Fu is so interesting. It's the first time we see him emote with his face this battle and it's when he's stabbed because of the humans he underestimated and their teamwork.
The first time we see him emote was the 0_0 face he made when Ling popped out of Greed for the first time just to tell him to give humans more credit.
But this is his first time emoting not for comic relief, yes.

It was a nice touch how they showed both Ling AND Greed didn’t want Fu to die.
A very simple, yet powerful part of the episode is when Izumi and Olivier change the minds of Central soldiers about following their superiors. After following orders their entire lives, they finally start deciding for the good of the people and themselves rather than blindly following what they're told. It's one of the many instances we see Olivier inspiring people and Izumi teaching. Giving this moment to characters we don't even know, like these soldiers, is such a good decision on the part of the mangaka.

I think you guys misunderstand Armstrong’s cowardice just a bit. It wasn’t that he was afraid of combat, during the war with Ishval he was horrified by the orders to systematically wipe out the entire population including civilians and children, but instead of confronting his superiors about the atrocities he fled the battlefield altogether. His guilt is from not doing more to prevent that kind of tragedy
I always think its awesome how, when Fu runs to Sacrifice himself you can see that Ling and Greed are so in sinc that they both call out for him at the same time. It shows that Greed Cares and that they both harmonise with each other greatly!
olivier finally finding a peer in Izumi is badass. Can finally listen when someone tells her to relax
Fu inadvertently caused both of the wounds to Bradley. First, his body blocked Bradley's eyesight so Buccaneer could stab him, and second, his sword broke when Bradley tried to block Ling's slash at his eye.
I don't imagine it was a matter of his eyesight being blocked, rather, that to him, humans are so beneath him and flawed that Wrath couldn't "see" a human sacrificing themselves and ensuring their own death just to save others.
It was literally because he could not see the attack. It is even said by Buccaneer himself. @@twilight_lupinesilva4691

That speech of Ling's always gives me so much chill. Also, Buccaneer's little talk with Fu gets me everytime.
There is something to be said about Buccaneer, he could have prob survived his injuries but by pulling out the sword just to get a hit in, he sealed his fate. I always thought his sacrifice really had more impact by something he really didn't have to.
Well he kinda made his sacrifice worth it. He managed to get a gut stab in and then Greedling broke his sword and got his eye. Buccaneer could have maybe lived but his devotion and drive to defeat Bradley won out within him.
"IS THAT THE GRIM REAPER??" had me legit in tears - 10/10 use 😂

It says a lot about how badass Wrath is that it took two suicide attacks for him to get wounded for the first time.
When I first watched this series, I wouldn't have predicted that Olivier and Izumi would end up as friends, but I love to see it.
Meh. Wrath would seem less badass if Greed would just go Full Shield from the beginning.
@@ritster21 Greed becomes slow as hell in full shield mode. He won't be able catch Bradley that way. Bradley would then simply find another way to take him down.

It was a city-wide array/transmutation circle, which means that so long as they were in the city they could be found & sent to where they need to go.
Your faces at the end of the episode is hilarious, that's exactly how I felt when I watched the show on TV back in the days before Netflix.
Fu and buccaneer couldn't go out any other way. Every character in the series, even the one-off characters, are given such a rich story in their short time that it hits so hard. Also, your faces at the cutoff were just... so good.
This is my favorite episode in terms of fight scenes. 9:48 this whole thing was just so clean. The way Bradley did all this was like 5D chess. He knew throwing that dagger would get him his sword back. the fighting in this anime is SOOO GOOD.

The Bradly/Ling fight will be one of my favorites. It was perfectly built up for both Ling and Greed. And I've liked that Arakawa had Wrath fight alone while both of Ling's people had to make sacrifices so his ideology of a king serving his people could win
Did you guys notice Greed caring for Fu at the same time as Ling, when he charge on King B to explode? :')
If indomitable human spirit, perseverance, willpower and determination are your favorite aspects of anime, there's no anime I could recommend you watch more than Gurren Lagann. It's pretty much peak human willpower taken to the extreme. It's literally the Grand Central Station of determination and never giving up. One of the most inspirational series I've ever seen. The ridiculous amount of progress the series makes in only 27 episodes with nothing but the theme of “never give up” is truly awe-inspiring! HIGHLY recommend!

I can't wait for my kids to grow up to really appreciate this anime 😅 I was about 13/14 the first time I watched it on MTV anime night, I loved it but, re-watching it at 19 and now as a mom, I appreciate it more, also thanks to my knowledge, I didn't knew anything about the rerum naturae, the uroboros or homunculus back when I was 13.

This episode makes me think back to the conversation between Pride and Al. Al tried to claim their plans were sloppy. Pride disagreed, saying that they knew the sacrifices wouldn't run. If you think about it logically, you have someone with so much care for human life that they would stake there own life and attempt to break the laws of the Universe to do the Impossible and bring the dead back to life. Of course, someone with that level of resolve and care wouldn't just sit back and watch an entire country be sacrificed. You could almost guarantee they are going to try and stop it, which allowed the sacrifices to fall into Father's Trap.

The only thing I'd disagree with is when you said that Wrath isn't a productive emotion. Getting angry at something usually gives you a raw burst of energy that really helps with manual labor.
An example of this is one time when I was mowing my lawn. There was this uphill portion, and the grass was extra long because I'd missed a week or two of mowing. When I was trying to push the lawn mower up, it wouldn't budge, and it was getting so annoying that i got red with anger and felt very... well... wrathful. I got so angry that I pushed with all my anger, and mowing was actually pretty easy after that.
Another time that anger helped me out when I started to get into writing books, back when I was younger. When I wrote my first script (as a middle schooler), I showed it to some siblings, and they mercilessly made fun of it, while others ignored it. Of course, my younger self got so angry that I was determined to show them that they're wrong. These angry emotions led me to actually studying up on how to write, and it kept me up late at night drafting and editing, even when it was unpleasant. (Of course, by the time I got to writing script that didn't act like crap, I wasn't feeling angry at all. Focusing all my anger on doing something useful kind of just burnt that emotion out of me.)
The key, I think, is that "wrath" needs to be channeled into something productive. It's a tool to help motivate you when you're feeling down. It's like a fire that gives you energy. The key is that you don't let it get out of control.
I really appreciate they showed everyone else's horrified reaction to seeing people being unravelled by transmutation. We've seen it several times now but seeing Roy's face made me remember that it is their first time actually seeing it first hand. As always, great attention to detail in this show👍

The drama, the sorrow, the anger and the music...absolutely brilliant!
The thing is Armstrong was never a coward, he was just too kind-hearted to keep killing innocent people. His abandonment of the thing that made others "heroes" was considered cowardice in the eyes of the government. I think it shows he was the only one strong enough to stop and go against the tide

An eye for an eye. How appropriate that Bradley lost his Ultimate Eye to an act of vengeance. That stab wound was also caused by an act of vengeance from both Fu and Buccaneer; Fu to avenge his granddaughter's arm, and Buccaneer to avenge the death of his men.
He didn't lose his Ultimate Eye, that's just the name of his ability that allows him to perceive things at a supernatural level.
I’ve been watching since the 13 or so episode. And I can’t wait for you both to experience the end of this series.

Hughes death was murder. Fu's was a sacrifice. That way it feels more noble and it hits harder that way.
Also Lan Fan and Ling's reaction even made it worse

Ohh my god this was I think the hugest episode so far. And OMG the cliffhanger and all it definitely feels alot like Attack on Titan now. Like ahhh I just feel I just want to watch next episode right now but it won't hurt to wait. It'll probably hype me up more as well. And I am gonna have the time watch some more of episodes Death Note and Demon slayer in the meantime. And I can't wait to see you start reacting to Death Note I have not really completed watching it yet but it still really amazing and I've just seen up until episode 17 or 18 (I'm not completely sure my mind is all over the place) till now. Writing is genius tier! Themes here -
1. Central soldiers "retirement" from service to unworthy masters and 2. Fu "retiring" his leave of service to sacrifice himself;
3. Ling possessing the "Mandate of Heaven" to rule given his heart's in the correct place and 4. Juxtaposition of Ling against the King of Xerxes who sacrificed his own people
Not genius tier. Greedling never went full Ultimate Shield against Wrath and Pride for no reason.
@@ritster21 In one of the earlier episodes, they explained that Greed can't generate his shield and regenerate his wounds at the same time. That's how Wrath managed to kill the first greed in episode 14.
@@zac8246 Right. That wouldn’t be a problem if Greed starts the fight fully armored. There wouldn’t be wounds to heal since his Ultimate Shield is unbreakable aside from clap alchemy.
@@ritster21 Sure, that's true, but he had reasons for keeping his shield down -- people like Falman would recognise Ling's face, and not immediately get hostile. Plus I think there's a line somewhere (maybe in the Manga) about how Greed prefers to let people see his handsome face haha. Was it the wrong choice? Probably, yeah. Was it bad writing for a character to make a mistake tho?
@@zac8246 It was bad writing. Greed immediacy went full shield against Edward as soon as he admitted he doesn’t like doing it. Yet against much stronger opponents like Wrath and Pride, he just doesn’t do it with no explanation. It’s bad writing.
My favorite minor characters are the Chimera guys. :) they're all awesome. Buccaneer is awesome too though!!
The Homunculi refer to those who have unfortunately opened the Gate of Happiness as Sacrifices.

this episode is the "plot advance" episode because Mustang could have use the flame alchemy to pinpoint and burn them all, but because of the awesomeness of these last 15 or so episodes and Mustang is in the "guilty boyfriend" situation so he make dumb decisions, it's easily forgotten
The reason for Mustang not using his alchemy is bc the long fight with the reject Bradleys was anime only, in the Manga they are inmediately captured and the whole "open the portal for us" thing happens sooner, they couldn't make Mustang beat them in the anime bc it would affect the way the scene is supposed to play out.

it's difficult enough to adapt manga into anime and people brave enough to make live action, well the did a very good job with Rurouni Kenshin, which is the series I hope they pick after Death note but idk about the availability

I don’t know if you guys have ever heard of Angel beats but it’s an amazing anime I think both of you would really enjoy one day And also angels of death is amazing I never even wanted to give attack on Titan and try until I started watching you guys react to it and I’m literally in love and on season three right now and FMAB has always been in my top three favorite animes I’m so happy that I get to watch the rest of what I haven’t seen with you guys
I just love theimagery of these two tiny women with the backdrop of the two big guys, but you can _feel_ that the one you should be most afarid of is the women!
Greed had the best character arc of the entire series.

Wrath could never regenerate because he was a human first made into a homunculus. Greed(Ling) is similar but Greed was a full homunculus first then combined with a human so he could still heal. Wrath had to rely on his training with a sword and an eye that could see any attack to not get hurt in the first place.
Wrath can't heal because his stone has only one soul. That's also why Lan Fan and Fu can't sense him like the other homunculi.

When u think about it at 2:25 that is literally what eren thinks in attack on titan and some people still side with that but nobody sided with the military in this show. Just shows the bias in aot even more.
