Which degree is best to choose?
Both degrees are equally compatible and worthy but somehow Software Engineering is more applied than Computer Science because it focuses on building and maintaining software systems. Computer Science focuses on design and analyzing programs in addition to development. This makes it a broader discipline owing to the emphasis on how to manipulate and transform data.

At least you should have consulted the syllabus of both,CS and SE,firstly both are just begining,just bachelors,secondly both are almost similar in may aspects.
It's not as simple as you narrated.
