In this video I turn a carved vessel from a Cherry log .. I had to change the plan on this piece after finding numerous cracks, which normally wouldn't bother me but these cracks I found pretty characterless and the wood was pretty bland. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to try some carving loosely based on rock erosion seen on some coast lines .. I think it turned out pretty cool, but will definitely try it on a better piece of wood next time ..
It's beautiful! Would make a lovely fruit bowl - they're best when they can get air through them so they don't build up moisture. It's a very elaborate fruit bowl, but why not? It would look stunning on the sideboard with or without fruit in it!
When you started drilling into it, I said "No! What are you doing!?!" Then I saw what you were doing, and I said "Wow! That's beautiful!" Always love your videos. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing.
With so many deep cracks, I wondered what you could possibly do with that old log, besides use it for fuel. As always you turned it (pun intended) into something utterly beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
@@AndyPhillipWoodturning no its fine, its just that a couple other viewers were saying it was too long, but you deserve a nice break, all of your content is free for us so we should not judge you for taking breaks! thanks for the vids!
This piece is the embodiment of serendipity! I’m sure whatever you originally planned would have been beautiful, but this is beyond amazing! Thank you, Mr Phillip, for sharing it with us.
Incredible! I genuinely thought that the holes were a naturally occurring feature of the wood until I saw you make them! 🤯 amazing, and what a beautiful outcome 🥰
When you got done with it the first thing that popped in my head was that it would make for a sweet lamp shade. Always like watching your videos, keep up the great work.
Like Jordan switching the ball from one hand to the other, you improvised to get the score. When you are that good, the best defense succumbs to better offense. Well done, sir.
Thank you, Andy. The intuitive glimpse of our present culture, a 3D depiction of a vessel that cannot hold any content, either good or evil, is given witness in an inner darkness and eroded edifice.
This has a very organic feel to it. It looks like some sea sponges that I have seen when scuba diving. As per usual you have taken something boring and made it interesting and beautiful. Thanks for the videos.
I can’t stop cherry from cracking during drying and neither - I gather - can the experts. Great stuff yet again from Mr Expert himself. And yet there are still 76 dislikes from the trolling numpties. Disregard them Andy - normal human beings love your videos and your work. Keep ‘em coming!
hmmmm, interesting. I just can't decide if I like it. I definitely like the idea of it, so I look forward to another with more interesting wood as you said. Your creative thinking continues to amaze me.
WOW! That was fascinating, and kind of mesmerizing to watch as you created it. It "turned" out quite beautiful. That will be a conversation piece for years to come. Thanks for sharing, you always impress me with your talent and skill.
Hey Andy Phil Anderson recommended your channel to us and I’m glad he did. The Holy Grail was a very interesting project to watch and I think I’m going to give something similar a try. Glad to be aboard.
You're probably the most meticulous person I've ever seen....and it always pays off. This is so cool, Andy. Quite different than what we've seen lately. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I have slight trypophobia but I love your creation. It really makes me think of surrealism art which is some of my favorite types. Especially the work of Slavador Dali's The Enigma of Desire, and The face of war👌🏻
Oh how strange! I was thinking of a wasp's nest when I first glanced at this. I have never considered myself to have any form of trypophobia. But I do not care for wasp's nests at all. So, maybe it is the trypophobian effect of the wasp’s nest that makes me shudder just thinking about it! …… (Trypophobian… is that even a word?) 😆 As much as I LOVE Andy's work and do think this piece is stunning, it gives me the heebie jeebies…
My most triggering one was Tom and Jerry (the much older cartoon where it was two guys and not voiced at all) episode where Jerry ate the swiss Alps cheese after stealing it and then later tom ate some well they started have holes appear on them in random spots and kept coming till they were eventually chased away by mice and that is how the episode ended x.x eef that is probably my worst Edit: The episode is called "Tom and Jerry: The Swiss Trick" btw
This one ranks an A+, even for you Master Andy! Really liked seeing a piece of wood much like several in my drying collection. I will have to take a big dose of patience and then try it on something of mine. Many, many thanks.
I had an ornimental fruit tree die some time ago. I intended to drop it and block it up for fire wood. Black carpenter ants had infiltrated and had an extensive network of tunnels throughout the tree. The only parts of the tree that saw the wood pile was the limb wood. I got some beautiful pieces out of that old tree. Your project reminded me of the ant holes in the wood. Great project by the wayo
I've seen you make many pieces of art on this channel but this one is something else. It looks incredible, the erosion effect is so organic that its just perfect 10/10
When you pulled out the step bit I was like "why TF haven't I thought of that before?" I would have used every bit in my drill index..... This video has given me a bunch of ideas for some boring pieces of wood I have laying around, and bowls that have warped or cracked and haven't found their way to the firepit yet. Thanks!
Это ПОТРЕСАЮЩЕ, а концовка выглядит так натурально, как-будто что-то по настоящему поело этот пень, и получилась такая красота в процессе обработки. ХИТРЕЦ !!!!
For those of us that can't read/speak Russian: "It's AWESOME, and the ending looks so natural, as if something really ate this stump, and it turned out such a beauty in the process of processing. Tricky"
This is a interesting piece and a great usage of a piece because of the cracking that may not have been appropriate for another use. Thanks for sharing, as I really enjoyed seeing it
Very cool, Andy! I thought you were going to light it up but it looks just great, very organic, as is. The black inside really brings out everything else, too! Phil
Personally never seen any turned bowls like it. You may have started something or I’m simply not well educated in the form. I like to think I’m well educated so good for you man!! Love the piece of Art. Great work.

I was wondering if you had planned this design from the beginning while I was watching. Thank you for sharing your thought process. It’s beautiful. 😊
Exquisite. I m very glad you kept at it, extraordinary outcome! Congratulations
Excellent concept and flawless result. 😙🤌 Muy Bueno!
It's beautiful! Would make a lovely fruit bowl - they're best when they can get air through them so they don't build up moisture. It's a very elaborate fruit bowl, but why not? It would look stunning on the sideboard with or without fruit in it!
It's beautiful work!

The wait was worth it, what a beauty!
'The wait'? ..it's only been 2 weeks since my last vid ..is that too long? Thanks 👍

One of my favorite pieces I've seen you do! It's so beautiful yet macabre.
Cheers
Beautiful piece. It's soothing to me watching you create your art. Thank you.
This piece is the embodiment of serendipity! I’m sure whatever you originally planned would have been beautiful, but this is beyond amazing! Thank you, Mr Phillip, for sharing it with us.
Thank you
Trypophobia sufferer here. My skin was crawl but I had to see this through. It's gorgeous!!
Incredible! I genuinely thought that the holes were a naturally occurring feature of the wood until I saw you make them! 🤯 amazing, and what a beautiful outcome 🥰
This video makes those with tropophobia so relaxed^^ Great Job on another beautiful project^^
When you got done with it the first thing that popped in my head was that it would make for a sweet lamp shade.
Always like watching your videos, keep up the great work.
An alien bowl! Wonderful! You're an inspiration for me...
Like Jordan switching the ball from one hand to the other, you improvised to get the score. When you are that good, the best defense succumbs to better offense.
Well done, sir.
Absolutely gorgeous. My favorite piece so far.
Cheers
Every time he makes something that's my favorite piece🤣😂🤣
My all-time favorite though is definitely the globe👍🏽
You have no idea how much I appreciate and enjoy the absence of music; I love just the ambient sounds.
Wow mate, that is incredibly beautiful. And for you to capture all that work is 8 minutes is astonishing…..
Thank you, Andy. The intuitive glimpse of our present culture, a 3D depiction of a vessel that cannot hold any content, either good or evil, is given witness in an inner darkness and eroded edifice.
One of the pieces you have done so far. I was so impressed with the way you allowed the wood to speak to you. Beautiful work!!
Correction…..One of the best pieces you have done so far.
Thanks
Is there no end to your skill, talent and creativity?!?!?! I'm always amazed by your projects!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!
I know you said the wood was bland and I bow to your knowledge of wood next to mine, which is zero, but I think this piece is truly beautiful.
Your combined gifts of artistic vision and execution never cease to amaze, Andy!
This has a very organic feel to it. It looks like some sea sponges that I have seen when scuba diving. As per usual you have taken something boring and made it interesting and beautiful. Thanks for the videos.
Turned out really nice. Good improvisation!
I’m working my way through your videos and I swear each one is more beautiful than the last! I love them all.
Thank you

Unique design...
I love your work...

That's so creative. I love the way you don't let cracks and holes stop you from making something amazing!
I would love to witness some of your dreams my friend! My mind...
...blown!
I don't think I will ever look at my Dremel tool the same way again! Another stunning piece. 😍
your videos are very satisfying
Once again Andy does not disappoint you with the final product! Congratulations Andy!
Thanks
That was bloody awesome !!’ Don’t doubt yourself ever you’ve definitely got the knack!!

Excellent design and a beautiful rendition as ever. I never understand who could dislike your videos or your work Mr P. Inspirational !
Thank you 👍
This is still one of the best vases I have ever seen!
this is real Art and you are real Artist. no more no less. salut 🇮🇶🇮🇶🇮🇶
That is surely a "labour of love". Well done Andy ( you did scare me a wee bit when you took the drill too it)
This is one of the coolest results I've seen!
Thanks
This turned out VERY cool! I love seeing you try different things and the stunning results.
Thanks
Loved your idea for this bowl. Nice result.
Clever Andy. Turned out amazing
Hi Andy. A new technique we've not seen on the channel. It's beautiful. Like honeycomb.
Thanks 👍
Nicely designed Andy. Something to remember when faced with cracking blanks.
Take care and enjoy the trekking my friend
Cheers
Harold

Thanks, I just learned a new word - and new phobia. I actually love clusters of small holes, so maybe I have tryphophilia! :)

8:00 The center alignment of the holes from front to back as you set it down with a little twist pretty much says it perfectly. Beautiful
Thanks

That is definitely a work of art. I love your work because it’s so different. Great job and thank you for sharing.
Thank you
Wow! Again I normally only like wood and colored resin. But oh my this is stunning!
Watching your stuff is really motivating, man. Thanks for taking the time to youtubeify your work 👍
That looks very cool!! Put a candle into it and it's perfect!! :o
Love how you show some real-time shots, mixed in with the high-speed stuff. It's amazing how time intensive this is. Great videos!
Thanks 👍
You are an artistic genius. I love it. Truly wonderful work

Cheers
Mate, you are truly an artist!
Really great, Andy. What a unique way to enhance the wood and utilize the cracks in your design! Take care.
Bill
Thanks 👍
Kinda a good thing that this piece of art didn't come out during that "I got tripophobia" phase the internet had for a while. This is great
Great outcome Andy for such an ordinary piece of wood
That came out incredible, man. It certainly would look right at home on a set of a sci-fi tv show or movie.
Wasn't sure where you were going with this, but dang, what a truly awesome piece!! Well done my friend!!
Cheers
So pretty! I love how you come up with so many concepts to bring your pieces to life!
Thank you
What a beautiful piece.next time I have a piece of wood with cracks in it I know what I'm doing with it somewhat
Oh so beautiful, again, Andy. Unique, odd, yet incredibly and intriguingly beautiful. Thank you.
Unique art specimen. I may borrow the concept soon. I could envision a big fruit bowl maybe. Well done
Stunning piece! Your work is remarkable, as usual, but this piece is especially exceptional.
Thank you
perfect example of how it’s your artistry that makes your pieces next level, not the beauty of the wood itself.
Thank you
Wow ... .......... You just keep on doing fantastic stuff. thx.
Pretty cool Andy. Turned out awesome. 💖💖
Thank you!
You are a really skilled person, I really enjoyed this video
Andy’s application to dental school was rejected. A wonderful piece, Andy.
A lovely piece, it looks like lace or something found in a beehive!
Wonderful, well turned!
🤩❤❤❤👍
Thank you
absolutely gorgeous bowl thats diffently thinking outside the box great job!!!!!
Thanks
this turned out awesome! i love the contrasting dark color inside.
Смотришь, вроде всё так просто))) А результат-поражает) 👍
What an awesome and stunningly beautiful art piece.
This is one of my favorite pieces I’ve seen you make!
Cheers!
Another fabulous piece! Superb idea and it worked so well
Another piece of art. Congrats Andy!
This is a interesting piece and a great usage of a piece because of the cracking that may not have been appropriate for another use. Thanks for sharing, as I really enjoyed seeing it
I took the time to read comments first and have to agree with the organic look. Awesome.
Thanks
Hi Andy, hope you have been well. Great thinking on this piece as it looks stunning.
Cheers,
Lee
Very cool, Andy! I thought you were going to light it up but it looks just great, very organic, as is. The black inside really brings out everything else, too!
Phil
Thanks Phil 👍
As always, for me, a great way to start my Fridays (and my weekends). Thank you.
Thanks
That's like something from the warhammer 40k universe, have to admit absolutely love it
What a brilliant way to disguise cracks, love it. 😊
Personally never seen any turned bowls like it. You may have started something or I’m simply not well educated in the form. I like to think I’m well educated so good for you man!! Love the piece of Art. Great work.
