    I would love to debate this topic, because here are just a few premise faults: corporations don't spend as you dream, we have as much choice in whom we elect to make those decisions on spending as we do choosing where to shop, not all taxes go towards silly things like in your examples, etc. The problem with the government is money in politics, for if we had a system focused on policy instead of fund raising we could elect better people in turn the spending would mostly fix itself.

      ***** Hello Patrick. I do not think corporations are held accountable. Who are they held accountable by? The problem as I see it is that corporations and big money donors are now fully embedded in our government. The reality is and it's always been this way, we are a nation not so much of rule of laws but of the Golden Rule. No not the one you think but rather it's "He who has the most gold makes the rules!".
      This is why the jails are filled with poor people and not the people who rigged the Libor or laundered drug money like HSBC.
      The working class only have a small percentage of shares in publicly owned companies and shareholders hold little power over boards and CEOs. Corporations have one fiduciary responsibility above all others and that is to make more money for shareholders. But if its a matter of polluting millions of citizens drinking water by dumping chemicals in the river or producing faulting ignitions that kill hundreds of people, that's a cost benefit analysis.
      The problem is that people don't have enough of a say or voice either in the private sector as workers or in the public sector as voters and both stem from the over consolidation of power and lack of education of people. So I suggest that profits being our sole judge of success is what's got us into this situation. Democracy is the ideal in both the workplace and the people's government at local, state and federal level. Corruption happens when good people opt out and bad or greedy people step in. Thanks!

      Pat there are three job seekers for every one job opening in the U.S. and people in their forties and over have next to no chance of gaining employment once unemployed so its not like employees can simply pickup and go work for someone else as you suggest. People have large amounts of personal debt and relocating to find jobs is far less possible than in previous decades.
      As a consumer you can't tell me you or the average consumer knows if a company's CEO took massive bonuses and pay raises while their company underperformed for years and lost billions of dollars which is common today, you can't know how much the employees were paid if they worked at slave wages to make the product you're purchasing or even if the product was partially or wholly made in the USA or abroad.
      America is one of the least taxed countries in the world. The percentage on taxation on corporate income thats actually received by the government is at an all time low.
      If we want to get a smaller government then we must get big business out of it. If we want to get more done for the priorities of the average citizen then we must get more average citizens to be informed and participate in our government starting with voting but not ending there. Finally, we must stop the shift and mass redistribution of income and wealth from the middle class to the top which is created a new aristocracy the kind our founding fathers left England to avoid the tyrannical influence of.

      Actually we distribute it as a society through taxation and investment in the public and it's created by in large the sweat and labor of workers. Try to make money off of an idea without work.

    • @positivitysuccessvideos
      @positivitysuccessvideos 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      After it is created by those who work, by the way using roads and workers educated in public schools our taxes pay for wealth is most definitely distributed by the way we tax people and companies which allows some to keep more of their money than others. It is distributed by selecting where taxpayer money is spent or invested as well.

      wrong conclusion sir. Poor government is equal to more inequality. It's not big vs small government but good vs bad management of our government which is the question. Have a good day.

    Lesson 67 | Who's better at creating jobs: government or private sector?
    - We vote for companies by buying from competitors if we dislike a certain brand (eg. If we dislike a certain coffee shop we will buy from StarBucks)
    - By far the private sector is the best

  • @johnrolfson687
    @johnrolfson687 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pat, I love your thinking. Honestly I knew that taxes staying with businesses would create jobs, but that's about it. Honestly, the government is terrible at spending our money. I agree. We should keep money in the private sector.

    The government needs money from the private sector to finance public jobs but the private sector doesnt need the government dont forget that civil servants in other worse put the tax down and government money will increase and there will be more public jobs

    the problem is there's not enough competition of new businesses like new companies competing with Ford in new companies competing with Walmart and new companies from everyday average citizens Computing with those big ginormous monstrosity of a company we don't have more people owning their own businesses and that's the problem we need you know 80 90% of the adult population to actually own their own business that's the problem and we don't have that

    What I've been taught about the farmers being paid to not grow anything is to make sure there isn't a surplus. If farmers keep growing food and selling it. Price will decrease resulting in them having to grow even more food. Therefore, making a downward spiral that doesn't help anyone. #watchingeveryvideo

    What is better? Does the fire prevention or repair of any damage caused by fire?
    If we decide it is better to prevent fire, we fire departments but if we believe it is better to repair its damage, we need bricklayers.
    Masons do you create wealth but do not create the firefighters? then, we can close all fire departments and let houses burn. Then the builders will have the opportunity to create wealth repairing it burned.

    a much more clear and succinct message. But buying that message requires such incredible naivete on the part of your audience. It's a Republican pitch (propaganda designed to get the have-nots to vote against their own interests).
    Granted, you used a convincing example (of the expanding restaurant chain) to make your case. But the tax system is already designed to favor growth risk by industry. ie. if a restaurant wants to invest in new stores and more staff - they pay NO TAX on the money allocated to that risk. In SOME cases, there are CREDITS available to entrepreneurs who commit to innovation and growth risk. We can likely expect to see more of these kinds of incentives in the future. All good.
    But blanket reductions in corporate tax rates produce darker outcomes. And we're seeing that already. The US wealth gap IS obscene, and it's widening. See this video Wealth Inequality in America and consider what it means to you.
    From the data YOU provided PB-D, it's clear that EXXON would LOVE a lower tax rate, but do you seriously believe that more profit to EXXON will produce a substantial benefit to any but a handful of US citizens? Personally, I'd much prefer to see government redirect that revenue to daring entrepreneurs who aim to disrupt the energy business with innovative alternatives to oil. Wouldn't you?

    All I know is that the government is the one who runs the country wherever you go!
    I’ve never heard any private companies that rule the country!!! 😂😂😂
    That’s why the government should be the role model of its countrymen and the image of the country!!! 😂😂😂
    If the government is doing polygamy then the countrymen will follow because the government is our leader that runs the country right? If the government is cheating then so as the countrymen right? 😂😂😂
    The government has so many departments where they have their own duties and responsibilities!!!!
    Police department cannot do the job of US Navy for example!!! Police department cannot cover US Navy because they don’t know their job unless they will train them right??? Does it make sense???? The basic first aid training probably applies in every department to save lives 😂😂😂😂😂

    Patrick I like your theory but our corporations have not shown great responsibility. The government should better manage tax dollars. I will not vote for most Republicans, especially now with GOP clown circus.

      After greater thought America's infrastructure is to massive that supports approximately 330,000,000 people. It is everything from medical research , education, military, weapons for the military, sewage, water, air traffic control, police, fire fighter and the list goes on and on. If we eliminate our infrastructure that support the American population that could leave us in a third world status. I think the government should spend tax dollars wiser. I don't believe nor have I seen trickle down economics working only in theory. We need to ask for greater accountability for spending and think tax cuts to companies who are actually increasing jobs in America.
