Very true, my bank once blocked a very minor transfer to purchase silver in a overseas reputable Singapore safe. Bank claimed the fault was on the company and vice versa blaming the bank. Didn't matter as ive purchased physical elsewhere via third party or credit.
You are forgetting that when you put your money into a bank account, you are no longer the legal owners under law and you become one of the general creditors to whom the bank owes money.
They do have the right to ask you where the “thing” is coming from just as you would when buying a house, car or some such thing. The Americans want to know and have said any banks that dont “know their customer” will get erased from their worldwide system. Banks are scared of that.
I am betting it is not about being too nosy about the transaction as much as the banks have a responsibility to ensure against scammers and such. But more importantly against illicit or illegal transactions as these happen a lot with precious metals.
The Banks don't care at all. They care only about themselves. They aren't trying to protect any of us proles. They are corrupt and part of the crinimal element in the Deep State.
Well part of it is also governments strongarming banks with some rules and regulations, some good, some not.
Banks shouldnt have to report activity to the gov for example, that should be against the amendment of unreasonable searches and seizures, its still my money, the gov doesnt have a right to access it.

It’s not fraud prevention, it’s anti-money laundering. Different countries have different laws/rules - check your countries laws.

I usually buy with cash and sell for cash. Our banks still allow cash deposits with out asking questions.

It means they have a premium based on their looks and collectivity.
at the mo. you're paying 800 a kg and about £26.5 an oz from what Ican see plus postage. It really depends on what you're after, certain things have higher mark ups as they are more collectible.
