we did the pemi loop recently and planned to camp at garfield pond too. got there at dusk and it was full so hiked to the top of garfield in the dark and the rocks were wet and ended up sleeping at the summit. just collapsed in exhaustion at about 10 pm. no way we could hike down to the tent site in the dark being that tired.
Nice. You caught a nice break in the weather there for your three days. Was there any consideration on your part when planning the hike to get it done in 3 days as opposed to 4 since a 4 day weather window in the Whites without rain is a low likelihood? Just curious if that entered into the equation. Hoping to do this hike summer '23 over 4 days but would hate to have to hike along the exposed ridge lines in howling wind and rain
