I grew up wanting to be a meteorologist. I even drew my own storm maps with radars, warnings, anticipated precipitation totals, and everything... but I didn't do it... I was worried about the math & science courses. I live with mega regret about this because I didn't pursue my dream and passion. I'm an extremely dissatisfied attorney.
I also had my sister record my weather reports. I was probably in junior high. I was even good with math & science. I just got super lazy & felt like I needed to be a lawyer for some reason.
At 5:09 they're using a free program called Audacity. You can download that here: www.audacityteam.org/ For the chroma key (green screen), you can use After Effects, Premiere Pro, or probably a lot of other programs. Just google chroma keying. I use Premiere Pro anything else would probably work just as well.
I am not certain what software they used back then. This video was made about 6 or 7 years ago. But I can tell you the meteorologists at my current station use a program called WSI MAX. Hope this helps.
to become a tv meteorologist you need an American Meteorological Society Broadcast Meteorologist Certification before or after to get a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Sciences. If you want to become a Research Meteorologist like me you need a Master of Science or Ph.D. in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Sciences after you get your Bachelor of Science in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Science. If you want to work at the National Weather Service Meteorologist you need a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Science or become a Warning Coordination Meteorologist you just need a masters degree or ph.d. in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Science.
