    Wooah! thanks for the heads up, I’ve got a few gbrf ones I’d better check , great running session 👍

      Hi Darrell. Another of our forum members has GBRF models and he's informed me that his are okay. It's possibly just the Freightliner models I've mentioned that are affected. I hope so, don't want to lose any more.

    The cracks would be Zamak rot I think and the dapol spine wagons have had various problems with these I have a few myself and so far so good will need to keep an eye on them though

    • @oogardenrailway

      Yes you're probably right and it's possible that only certain batches are affected, hence why two pairs of mine have both cracked while all others remain okay.

      @@oogardenrailway im not sure if keeping them out of use is any good or not.. sounds like pot luck but am glad yours are still usable fingers crossed no more cracks appear

      @@mrhaggit I don't think it's a good idea to store anything away these days. The quality of our models cannot be relied upon and by the time we come to take them from their boxes it's often too late. I've had wagons cracking, loco chassis expanding and 4 seized up class 56 locos that had never been used. Thakfully I got them sorted but it's not something we should expect to have to do with the prices we are being asked to pay.

    Well they aren't supposed to do that! Have you been loading overweight containers on them again.....Not so good when you think how much these things cost today. Glad I don't have any. All the best Dave.

      They certainly shouldn't but they are doing and it isn't just mine that have cracked so it's not an isolated problem. Makes you wonder what we are going to discover next among those boxes of models we have carefully stored away.

    I have 2 sets in N gauge ( 1 freightliner and the other set GBRF) and both sets have not cracked but warped and won't sit on the rails correctly. These have even got boxes on so might have to heat and straight them .

    • @oogardenrailway
      @oogardenrailway 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that's not good either. I'm sorry to hear that. I doubt there's anything we can do about it now but it's certainly something to be aware of not just with Dapol FEA's but with all our models - past and future. There's no guarantees that they're going to stay in one piece even if we never use them and always store them in their boxes. I'm afraid to open any boxes these days because I just never know what I'm going to discover.

    Wagon move for scrap? Structural integrity defect

      Almost! Just relieved that they're still useable.

    I bought a set second hand and one had snapped just after the bogie, a generous application of superglue cured the problem and now it's super strong.

    • @oogardenrailway
      @oogardenrailway 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice work! I've used superglue too, along the cracks, in the hope that it holds them together for a few more years.
