I'm going back to Porto next week for the twelfth time. $19 dollars a night is a bargain but I like my privacy so I can't stay in hostels. I stay in a nice apartment I think it's about $60 a night which is still not bad. I'm so happy you enjoyed it.
Pro tips for all Americans and other anglophones when it comes to Portuguese pronunciation. .. #1: Forget everything you learned about Spanish. #2: The letters J and G sound like J and G in English and not at all like in Spanish. They never sound like H. So the name Jorge sounds like George and never ever like Horhe. #3: The letter Ç as in Praça which means square, is a soft C and sounds like an S, not a K. Exact same as the word PLACE in English. #4: L or LL in Portuguese sounds like Ls in English. Never sounds like a Y. #5: The letter H, however, doesn't sound like an H and pretty much doesn't have a sound at all, except to alter the sound of the letter it's coupled with, usually an L or N, such as Mercado do Bolhão or Rio do Minho. So basically, if you pronounce Portuguese words thinking like an English speaker, you'll have much better results than if you think like a Spanish speaker. Venha vinho 🇵🇹!

@@kingjames2226 I watched the Whitney Houston biopic in Lisbon and the theater was PACKED! I like movies and it seems like there are plenty of folks in Portugal that do too 🙂
Very well. You did a presentation of Porto with a great veracity and I am expecting you return many times to feel and enjoy the vibe. A thanks kiss for you my dear! ❤🎉
@@travelwithstacyTWS I'm heading to Porto next week on a solo trip. I've been several times before, but with my husband, who's from there. I appreciated your point of view.
FYI, the street showing at minute 7:34 is not the Avenida dos Aliados. The said avenue is much larger (about seven times as wide), with a walkable section in the middle, much grander architecture, with an imposing building (the town hall) at the end. What was shown is not even an avenue but a street (Santa Catarina?) Good vlog, but the pronunciation of the Portuguese names and words was a bit off.
Thank you for this! Going to Porto in August and beyond excited!
Why does it feel like im watching this 5x speed 😂😂
Haha same. But I love it! Makes me feel like I am all the info in a short time span
😂 the video was SUPER LONG so I uploaded it in 2x speed to make it shorter 😂 thanks for watching!
I had to slow it down to chill. 😆
😂 I literally had to check to see if I had my speed changed on my account. But I like it because I can get through it all quicker 😁
yep, same here.
