some of the mech design reminds me a bit of f-zero.. got that early 90’s cyberpunky sci-fi feel to it. this was the golden age of video game graphics for me.. handcrafted with love and care.
The graphic artists of toaplan were true artists. The background of the fourth stage still gives me chills, all the buildings and the roads with lights is quite lavish and it enhances the atmosphere of nocturne dogfight above a futuristic city which IMHO is still awesome, even for current standards.
@@Gridseeker that stage in particular is impressive to this day. The graphical team at Toaplan just made magic for this game, even later releases from them like Batsugun and VFive had inferior graphics. I think only Raizing kind of approached this game graphics in terms of atmosphere... Not even Cave stuff or even Air Gallet was this impressive.
@@voutespancar Oh boy, I remember I was blown away when I saw the fourth stage for the first time, also the BGM of this stage is the best of the game, combined with the backgrounds is probably my favorite stage of any shmup and also the reason I love this game. I think (IMHO) you´re very harsh with the later shmups by Toaplan: Batsugun and Vfive (or V-V) are both different in style in comparison with Truxton but hey, to each his own taste. Personally I also like the forementioned games but Truxton 2 has a special place in my gamer heart. Now if I only could shake hands with Masahiro Yuge, the composer of almost every Toaplan game, including Truxton 2, and tell him how much rocks the tune of stage 4 I would die happily. PS: which game by Raizing is close to Truxton 2 in terms of graphics and atmosphere?
@@おやG太郎Truxton I managed to finish it but Truxton II, impossible, I have only completed it when I have configured it for infinite lives and infinite bombs 😁

I´ve played this game since over 24 years ago and I still can´t manage to reach the last boss. I finished without continues some difficult shmups as Raiden I and II, Macross, 19xx and others but this game still proves (and no brainer) why has the "tatsujin ou" name.
I was in Tokyo recently, and the Taito arcade in Akihabara had an entire floor dedicated to mainly classic shooters. There were a bunch of really good players flocking to the various Cave games, Parodius, Gradius, etc. I did not see one person sit down at the Truxton II cab besides myself. I probably spent a good hour or two collectively across a few visits on that cab, but maybe got to stage 2 once. The other players clearly had already learned the lesson I was slowly picking up on. 😂
These graphics and mechanical design are top notch. Nothing comes close today. But my God, that music is terrible. If your first level is going to grind on for fifteen damn minutes, the opening track shouldn't sound like a magical girl anime theme on loop.
Well if you want something short but still Toaplan. Check out Slap Fight. Air Gallet is also very Toaplan like even though it was made by Gazelle, former employees of Toaplan.
enemies repeat too often . sound effects are drowned out and dull. every level feels and sounds the same ,enemy wise too repetitive . seems more like a Beta version of a game . way too much looping and drags on and on for too long . the music is good but the game is missing the feel of the first one . i would not consider this a truxton game or related in any way. the larger enemies dont make any sound when you hit them . major flaw possibly the worst one.

This was a tough game to play when it came out in my local arcade. Fun and exhausting as well.
Man, this OST is insane! Love this.

Wooooow..... This game is huge and beautiful....
Thanks for the video and GG 👍
Surprised Mark(Classic Game Room) hasn't shown up in the comment section.
They made a milllion bazillion shoot 'em ups back then. They are STILL MAKING NEW ONES TODAY. They are immortal! :D
Nice game dingdong
36:45 Toaplan's mascot.
best and most difficult shmup ever. a tough game.
This game is evil

Truxton II, the sequel that only saw 1 home port, the FM Towns Marty. Yeah, never a console port, just a PC one, shame.
At least you can play it on MAME
There's actually a good chance it's being ported to modern consoles soon
ZPS Thanks to M2
There's only chance to get port on modern console?
it would be cool to play truxton 2 on the megdrive.

Nintendo Switch also fulfills to job well. Yeah it feels awesome when your local childhood arcade now suddenly fits in your pocket perfectly

Even the Toaplan devs admitted it was too hard. Graphics and music were too notch though
@@voutespancar Indeed. Toaplan was the "Fromsoft" of the shmup genre in terms of making games that drive players over the edge.
Truxton I conseguí pasarlo, pero Truxton II, imposible, solo me lo he pasado cuando lo he configurado para vidas infinitas y bombas infinitas 😁
一代難度超大 才是經典
最終ステージ2回ぐらいしかいった事ないな。クリア出来ないくせに点稼ぎパターンだけはやってた一人です。

This game is very hard for an arcade game. Mike Matei from Cinemassacre couldn't able to beat this game.
This is the most difficult of mame game that i know

i clearly remember almost no one played this game, it's extremly hard,no one could pass stage one.

これは日本版達人王じゃなくて海外版ですか?
最初の警告画面にEurope onlyと書いてありますね
海外版はちょっと敵が脆い
Why dont use blue laser?
It is very weak. Red bombs are much more powerful.
These levels are too damn long. An hour for a shooter?
I love this game.
An hour for both loops. That’s not out of the ordinary. He’s beating the game twice.
