Canadian here. Of course British Columbia is beautiful ... it says it right on their license plates! Thanks from friendly Manitoba ... Also on our license plates. 😃
I live just outside Vancouver. Fisgard Lighthouse is near Victoria on Vancouver Island, which is a 1.5 hour ferry ride from me. I was born in Surrey, England, but came to Canada when I was 14. I’m 72 now, and B.C. Is my home. It’s really beautiful but I still love the English countryside.
I am a barista, and a peppermint mocha is espresso, chocolate powder or syrup, peppermint syrup and steamed milk. They are one of my favorite drinks in December.
One difference a knitter must keep in mind when substituting kfb for M1, is placement. If you want, say, 3 k stitches between the increases, with M1L/R, you’d M1, k3, M1. But with kfb, you’d kfb, k2, kfb, since the increase also gives you a plain-looking knit stitch at the beginning and a “purl bump” to follow. If you kfb, k3, kfb, it would look like 4 knit sts between the “purl bumps” of the knit-through-the-back portion of the increase. Or if you want the line of bumps to be 2 sts in from the edge of a flat piece, on RS right edge, you’d work 1 then kfb; versus on RS left edge, you’d kfb, work 2 sts. (I hope that makes sense….). I only mention it because Kay says she’s really looking into this in depth currently.
Just last week I found a kfsb - knit front slip back - knit front, then put needle in back loop and just slip it off..it creates a knit loop! 🙌 I thought I was watching the Hallmark channel 😂 I'm knitting a crown right now!!!
I chuckled through the Cape Cod and British Columbia light house part. I am from the West Coast of BC and know exactly what you are referring too. Yes, there is A LOT of filming done in the Lower Mainland of BC, Canada. It IS gorgeous here and I am very thankful I get to live in its beauty.
I am in British Columbia. The Fisgard Light house is actually in Victoria, which is on Vancouver Island. Most of the filming is done in Vancouver, so possibly the beaches were there.
I'm a huge fan of Hallmark movies and I live in Maple Ridge, BC and there are many, many, many Hallmark movies filmed right in Maple Ridge. Yes, the scenery is absolutely stunning here. Today I'm making Kay's Christmas Cake, the one with a jar of mincemeat. I love the show, all the segments... love to hear the English voices in my kitchen. Thank you so much.
I live in Ontario, but Hyannis MA is a 10 minute drive from my family's home! Cape Cod is such a lovely place to visit... but there are NO mountains in the vista. It's a sandbar hook into the Atlantic. BTW, exceptional yarn shops, art, farms, whale watching &, like BC, great seafood. Thanks for the fab content!
A mocha is half coffee and either chocolate milk OR hot chocolate. A peppermint mocha has peppermint syrup added. Usually served with whipped cream on top. One of my favourite holiday drinks 😁
Just a tip to avoid a jug on strips: when you have knit the first round, with the new color, and you come to the first stitch with that color. You lift the stitch underneath (in the previous color) up on the needle and knit it together with the first stitch in the new color 👏🏻 Hope it makes sense - otherwise you’ll find lots of videos on it on TH-cam 😘 It’s nearly jugless 👏🏻
A proper mocha is a drink made with multiple shots of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate (preferably syrup not powder). I'm sitting here at work right now drinking one and laughing at how foreign we constantly turn out to be to each other even though we're all speaking English!
Hi there, great video as usual. The lighthouse is Fisgard lighthouse off the coast of Victoria on Vancouver Island where I am lucky enough to live. A lot of Hallmark type movies are filmed on Vancouver Island due to the difference in the dollar compared to the US and a well established film production industry. We are used to seeing Christmas decorations and fake snow during the year when filming is taking place. I used to live in Northallerton so I love all your outings to familiar places. Thank you for producing such great content. ❤🇨🇦
I will join your pajama rant. I had the same issues when looking for pajamas this year. I hate the ones that habe clingy legs and elastic at the bottom. I wouldn't like wearing the fleece ones to bed either.
Yayyy, I guessed the first sock pattern question and got it right! I remember knitting those on a bus to see some Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in Wisconsin!
LOL-during the on-screen first question, there is a mix up with the answers 😂 check out 1:06:38 😂😂❤ Personally rooting for first Egyptian sock being made out of Knitpicks Felici 😆 Love the Christmas spirit!
When doing a KFB on opposite sides of a shawl, on the right side of the fabric (as in right vs left) if the instructions call for K1, then KFB at the beginning of the row, when you get to the other end, I would do the KFB when there are THREE stitches left instead of two, because it puts that little “bump” in the same location on both sides of the fabric, two stitches in from the edge. that’s how I mirror them on each side of the object. I prefer to do KFB in most situations. I rather like the appearance of the little bump.

It is the Fisgard lighthouse which is the oldest lighthouse on Canadas west coast. It is in Victoria BC on Vancouver Island. It’s a beautiful place. 😊
I live about a half-hour drive from that lighthouse! I will check out the movie.

Enjoyed your show very much.🎉

“Brava” is for women; “Bravo” is for men. Another fun episode; thank you! Happy holidays!

I hope we get to dye this colourway.
I'm from Abbotsford, BC, and my friends host the hallmark movies at their house all the time. love your show.
Hello from victoria, B.C. Yes, we are close to mountains, lighthouses, snow and Pacific Ocean. Love watching you!

Yes! British Columbia is where I live. I’ll have to check out that film. I live in the interior of BC. Snowing right now.
I'm also a huge fan of the knit front/back and constantly substitute it for other increases.

For me in the western US, "mocha" means a chocolate flavor. In coffee, it would be a coffee with chocolate flavoring.
I will join your pajama rant. I had the same issues when looking for pajamas this year. I hate the ones that habe clingy legs and elastic at the bottom. I wouldn't like wearing the fleece ones to bed either.
Hello from Mounds, Illinois.
British Columbian here and it is beautiful! The Fisgard lighthouse is in Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island.
Yayyy, I guessed the first sock pattern question and got it right! I remember knitting those on a bus to see some Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in Wisconsin!
Mocha is a chocolatey, creamy coffee. A minty one is like a chocolate mint flavored one.

We added those in for a bit of festive fun 🌲

In Italian, Brava is the feminine form of celebration and Bravo is the masculine form. . .
Brava is for female presenting and bravo is for male presenting.
"Brava" is for when you are speaking to a female, "bravo" is for a male. :)
