Travelling Through the Amazon on a Cargo Ship 🇵🇪

- It was time to leave Peru and head to Colombia but in order to get there we had to take a cargo ship down the amazon river, this became a 3 day mega journey! The cargo ship was now mine and @baldandbankrupt home. With one meal a day and just a hammock to sleep in this adventure was a tough one!

I know it was a tough journey and I thank you for sharing it with us but believe me when I say that 30 years from now you and Bald will look back on this as some of your best days. The pain will be long gone by then and only the good memories will remain.

@@BackpackerBen I spent a full week in a hammock once and it was awesome. I couldn’t get out due to the weed being so strong… like the stuff Bob Marley smoked. Spent plenty of time in Amsterdam and nothing there has come close.
Don’t smoke anymore thank god. Spent literally the whole week in a hammock smoking weed next to the beech and hotel, listening to music. Proper rest!

I did this a couple months ago and my fave part was the subtle bumps into your hammock mates when it got a bit wavy at night 😂 what a journey lol

PS The Amazon River still has like 2000 miles to go to the Atlantic and it's already huge.
It’s literally like stepping back in time. You and Bald are like Victorian adventurers.
Its definitely different and what a refreshing break from all the politics and such like back in the western world.

Just when I was thinking this is like time travelling, Ben says he feels like he's been brought 300 years back in time. To me it's like visiting the wild west. Really something else, this trip!
It's not as pretty as a first world country but I wouldn't say this was 300 years ago. 300 years ago was way more primitive in comparison

Wow. Very cool. The village you were in was Alto Monte de Israel. It is run by a religious cult/community that rejects the Peruvian Government and wants to establish a biblical theocracy, this I why you could see men dressed like Jesus walking around. Very interesting and exotic place indeed.

You got some balls Ben! Last month I slept in a hammock for the first time in Colombian desert and it was brutal. Zero sleep, tired, noisy, etc. Hands down to you for handling this for three days... on a boat.

I love tripe. It is popular in parts of Italy and so I grew up with it in my immigrant Italian family. Whenever I see it used in other national dishes anywhere in the world, I always get it and the dish is always amazing! Look past what it is, and just eat it. It holds onto the sauces really well so each bite is a flavor bomb.

Did y'all notice the required life jackets hanging above the hammocks ? The idea is that you can float in the water while the piranhas eat you.
It’s actually quite rare for piranhas to attack humans. Plus with 100+ other people for them to attack, your odds are pretty good!

I went by fast boat in 2007 and it was really comfortable. Much better than a plane. It took 12 hours.
lol the second I walked on that boat and saw and heard all those yelling children I would have done an about face.
No sleep for 3 days flashed through my head when that happened..
