How true!!! I think growing up in a community like ours..... All I wanted to do was go "Johatsu".... Tried moving away to Karnataka for my studies.... But 70%of my class was malayalees .... And those too having the same attitude and values as the people who I was trying to run away... Then moved to New Zealand.... And I was meeting the same kind of people... Same mindset...so finally had to move to Melbourne Australia and I have felt safe here.... Only because I stay an arm's length away from the malayalees here ... They might be great people... But the trauma has been enough for me to keep them at a safe distance... Thank you for the video... It explains a lot

I have been living in Japan for the last three months. People here really care about what others think of them. There are both good and bad aspects to this attitude. The positive side is that people are extremely polite and respectful towards others. They have an internal belief that they should not be the ones doing bad things, such as throwing garbage on the street, fighting with each other, or committing any crimes. This is why the crime rate is quite low, and the city is exceptionally clean. The negative side of this attitude is that people are often very lonely. Something holds them back from speaking to new people or socializing. They always have this fear of what others will think of them when they expose themselves to society.

Part time job entey kariyathil i have a point. if living like an immigrant even with part time job in foreign country one can get things we consider luxury in india..say for example nike shoes or apple phone etc. Cant achieve that doing part time job in india due to various reasons including highter tax , money excdige difference and those items are not really considered luxuries in foreign countries etc.

I have different opinion about doing part time job, here in Kerala or elsewhere in India.
1.
Restaurant and minimal part time jobs are for undergraduates abroad while graduate students go for research and teaching part time jobs related to what they are studying. Do we have part time jobs related to our course or subjects. Universities are now arranging for internships, but they must hunt for it outside Kerala.
Then problem like language barriers, unfamiliarity with place, lodging etc arises.

What kind of security would be given for people who are ready to do part time jobs especially for women? Because curriculum in abroad countries are arranged in such that they have time for it but here after 7+ hrs schooling or college, then extra tuition where is the time? Sometimes part time job may be taking place at nights. Whether our society that progressed to accept these?
So, it's not about pride for most families.
Women face lots of restrictions. Even an adult lady is opposed from working in night shifts.
I beg to differ and reconsider your statement, It's pride!!!! Hence why peeps are flexing about their son, daughter or both are in overseas even tho most of them are biting off more than they can chew there. I've a neighbour aunt who always take pride among relatives projecting that both their sons are outside the state. Meanwhile I know both of them are really tired of making both ends meet. Similar trend can be observed in many families, and why wonder about that when we've no work culture here!?? This issue boils down to our education system(especially our state boards, and CBSE is no better) passing everyone attending the exam hall. Any sane children that has access to pyqs can easily crack any board exams of this country that too a system for introspecting only the memory of students like what Britishers formed in India during then. While we boast about our 100 percent passout rate in SSLCs, we tend to forget that we're literally growing fake confidence in them and obviously overtime they'll develop a inner feeling that they're not meant for blue collar jobs . Also why 1 in 3 students dropping out degree courses, 1 in 2 students failing engineering degrees and so on. We always kept hearing that we should introduce part time jobs along with education, but where does such jobs come from?and significantly Who are going to attend that in Kerala where natives doing menial jobs are frowned upon? So we must fix the root cause first, then only surface will change.

But do you think that parents will be proud or in fact towards themselves have self-respect, if he/she doesn't study well, become a loser or after studying well being unemployed. NO! Forget about everything, we will be ashamed of ourselves at one point of time(only if you have consciousness), when we see others are thriving in their lives.
When we say that we should not give ears to what society says, it should be only to unnecessary things. Education and job matters; only that we must not become slaves or to have Stockholm Syndrome.
Do not come to preach that there are uneducated people who have become successful in life. I appreciate but only if you become extraordinary and odds must be in your favor; then these fairytales happen.

Obviously No, but I can see where this implication came from! That's why I mentioned we've no work culture here; where people are allowed to work what they want and judges are mouth shut. If our education system could successfully weed out students that are talented for high skilled labours and non, then we wouldn't have this problem. Have a glance at the social lives of western society. They're far better than us in respecting every profession. Like a western social wage worker can study and make it towards a white collar job during his career life if he wants to or a mom can re-attend her studies after 30s, these are completely normal there because they don't value others much using their personal or professional lives. Such care free society can enable better job conditions too. Also you do know that Kerala pays highest minimum wage for blue-collar jobs, right? There are data showing how much Biharis/Bengalis are taking to their nativity from Kerala, even lakh crores annually!!! Also for the interior works in my home, we had this young carpenter guy who toiled all day and worked till 9pm daily since the construction company asked the team to complete the work in time. I was happy and slightly jealous at the same time when I saw him leaving for his home in his red polo GT.
And please don't get me wrong, I didn't imply that it's the complete solution. For a state to drive better corporate opportunities, it needs metropolises. But guess what? Kerala is just a state wide suburbian sprawl. The largest suburb in the world, it's not only bad for job creation but also so for our environment too. So our govt should initiate developing atleast a proper tier 2 cities in Kochi and trivandrum. But apart from that, the bleak mentality of chasing after rat race and looking down on someone who just lose so but not his life is what accelarating youngsters to stay away from blue collar jobs. And for this mentality to change, our education system should reform!! That's what I'm altogether trying to say.
