    Positive words, but unfortunately they don't address the practical issues. AI can't stop us from creating art nor undercut the select few who are acclaimed and financially successful. It will affect those climbing the ladder out of the trenches, however. The ones working on routine art projects to pay the bills so they can also work on passion projects. The money will dry up, shrinking access to opportunities. Some will have to abandon art careers for anything else. Some won't get the steady projects that help them develop skills and establish a name for themselves. It's a future that guts the "middle class" of professional art even though we continue to value art in theory.
    Yes, keep making art for many reasons - but also stand up to the dangers that AI art poses to our collective cultural and financial well-being.

      You can always go back to traditional art. AI isn't going to be using paintbrushes or molding clay any time soon. Of course it's a lot more difficult to make a living that way.

    An important thing to mention is that AI art is not an AI
    It’s an algorithm just like TH-cam but instead of finding videos with tags and titles that are similar to what you watched before instead it finds images and collages and mashes them together so no it doesn’t actually learn or think it doesn’t know what it’s looking at it doesn’t know what art is it just mashes images together

    • @mborok
      @mborok ปีที่แล้ว +4

      More like you ask it to find a certain image in random noise, it knows what that image looks like, and it continues to refine the noisy image until it gets something like what you asked for. So if you ask it for a picture of the Mona Lisa eating a pickle, it takes everything it knows about the Mona Lisa, pickles, and eating, and eventually "finds" what you asked for. Or it may just decide that you want the words "Mona Lisa Eating a Pickle", and give you some text that sort of looks like those words.

    Ok
    There is still purpose to making art
    But, since it won't sell and will be easily replacable
    There is no sense, no value to completed pieces
    Corporations won't think about the soul of the art, but the outcome, and of course the price. And since it will achieve the same goal, but cheaper, there will be no human art in movies, games etc, and the whole point for making art will be to enjoy it as a process, or just for the sake of making *human* art.
    Great video, I just don't share the same hope

    • @SacredVStudio
      @SacredVStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand, and I agree I may have been a little overly "Optimistic." But humans decide what is and isn't valuable, so I suppose that is where the "humanity" of art resides. What we give value to.
      And in a future where 90% of everything being artificially produced, people with real skill in art may be valued in there own way compared to the big corporate content produced. Who knows?
      Someone mentioned how there are so many free 3d human model generators (DAZ, Make Human, etc) yet many 3d artist still make their own characters from scratch. I think it is safe to say that their will always be artist making work traditionally.

    It's kinda sad that artists will hesitate posting their stuff on the internet now when it feels so hostile. As if reposters weren't annoying enough, the ai parasites come crawling from their basements.
    Ai bros may be plagiarizing what's already out there now, but they can't get new art to steal from if artists just stop posting and just create in private like pre-internet or just keep small portfolios. Ai can't have enough data to plagiarize a style if an artist's portfolio is only a small selection of their art.

      As creative types, the matter of AI-generated "art" can distract us from the bigger picture (pun intended). While I see AI image generation as another digital tool for us to have at least a basic understanding of, as someone whose interest includes Computer Science/Information technology, my concerns with our race being threatened by machines have been validated in recent years by Computer scientists.
      Fourtentitely, creative technology, robotic defenses tech, and robotic manufacturing are separate...for now.
      A robot race will be superior to the human race, and I believe it would behoove us to put safeguards in place now, (though that should have been started in the 1970s). I believe that creativity, empathy, and basic senses of morality that transcend race, ethnicity, and religion are part of what make us human yet such traits make us inherently inefficient and weak (conversely, our emotions are also often a catalyst by which individuals or groups may simply be mean to others to being extremely cruel to others). And though the coming race will certainly take note of that, and will likely exploit that, I also believe that primitive striking, will not necessarily be to our benefit.
      It would be good for us creative types to work with folks who may or may not be creators, who are in other fields to build a brighter today and better tomorrow and ensure the supremacy of our species.

    Scraping the web enmass (also known as theft) to generate art does not make a computer into an artist. Nor does it make those who use it an artist. However, CGI and digital art have been around for decades, and are amazing tools. A computer and it's software is dumb and utterly UN-intelligent, it just processes data and crunches numbers. It cannot be INSPIRED without us mere humans lol! Just like Photoshop won't work without a creative human's input and work to put something down on the canvas. But for fuck's sake -- to anyone using "A.I." generated art -- at least learn to do some post processing to make it look good and remove the weird artifacting! I see this all over the place. What is more important to you? Being an artist or producing better art? If you are concerned with the latter then you should welcome AI art. Its just another more efficient tool like photoshop, 3D models, manikins, cameras, paintbrushes etc. There is no reward for getting to an end point in a more inefficient manner than needed. AI art its not uniquely yours, if you know the prompt and seed true, but same argument could be made of photographing a viewpoint at a particular time of day and photographers can still claim copyright. As to AI programs steal our artwork there is no connection to any particular input, the process is transformational, and artists regularly use other pictures and input as their inspirations. With billions of inputs what share of the royalties could you reasonably expect to get anyhow?
    Going to art school does not give you extra rights over the rest of us. What scares the hell out of conventional artists is having to compete with the mass of hobbyist for who AI art has made good results more accessible. Not allowed, not in the Union. Do not be self-deluded by the idea that the process of making art, rather than the end result, has some transcendental mystic quality either. The person who can end up with the best pictures is the best artist.

      We earned our skill, through years of effort and sacrifice, you don't get to swoop in and piss all over us without us wanting to break your jaw.
      Are we supposed to give up our lives for your constant entertainment without any type of recognition or respect?

      @@cataniculescu You are saying things I didn't but easier if you have an argument with yourself. As the old cliché goes respect is earned not demanded. You get respect by producing what people want at a competitive price. Cars used to be built by artisans then the production line came along. Canals got replaced by railways which got replaced by roads etc. Your predicament is not new but you can adapt. Its not the end of Art just a reduction in the market for traditional methods.

    Technology has made me depressed the past few months, considering the unstoppable rate it is advancing. AI art is still art, as well as traditional part, just different tools were used. But I believe that soon, we will have everything and anything whenever, and however. Technology will build itself, we will become gods, never have to learn, try, or do. Just experience. People are not special, we can be reduced to nothing more than information holders, emotions are chemical reactions. Once we take hold of what we are and expand, the sky is the limit to what we can do. I want to, I wish I could, but I just don’t feel like trying anymore. Why try when you are going to be swept up in the largest advancement in human existence? Seriously, look at the graphs of technological advancement. You’ll see what I mean.

      This is exactly how I feel, Mr Hitler. People need a carrot dangling in front of them to keep them moving forward in life, but what happens when these AI’s can do everything for us and essentially take that carrot away from us? Quite a large part of a persons identity is based around what position they fill in society, but what happens when AI’s can fill all of those positions in our stead? I guess I could spend my entire life playing videogames like an overgrown baby, but what would be the point in that? I’m trying to stay positive by thinking of all the good things AI could do, such as curing diseases, but it’s hard not to get weighed down by all the negatives.
