Yes, i am also surprised to death .Like if it is one video it is alright but for such a big sports media company it's quite surprising.

Do away with mega auction. Players to have direct contracts with franchises for a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 years and renewal upon mutual consent. If there is no mutual consent, player gets into the auction. Only thing that doesn't change is the salary cap rule (the cap limit itself can go upward progressively). This way, the player has a say in his (perceived) value, the league stays competitive and the franchises can keep a constant big core team going.

    My take:
    1. Have a mega auction in December.
    2. Make it clear that the next mega auction would be in 2029 december.
    3. Ahead of mega auction in December 2024, allow franchises to retain 2 indian capped 2 uncapped and 2 foreign players. No RTMs must be allowed as 6 players are being allowed to be retained

An important area that the current auction system fails to address is the player input. The players have no control over where they will play and what role they will have at that franchise if picked at the auction.
The American leagues have a draft system. That could work very well here. Franchise purse are already capped. Each player-franchise can negotiate a contract term of anywhere from 1 to N years (say N=3 or 5). So every year we can have a "draft" or auction of new players and players who become "free agents" (don't wish to extend contract with their current franchise). Players and franchises can part way mid contract too by trading (this also exists today).
That way (1) players have a say in where they want to play, how much they get paid and more importantly their role (play all games, atleast 50% games etc) so they can focus on their growth too. This will also help develop a fan base around players when supporters see a young player growing year over year at a franchise.
    (2) franchises have a say in who they want to retain, buy, how much they want to invest in academies and scouting, how they want to trade.
    (3) supporters can follow players and teams more meaningfully.
If we want to enforce it starting this year, franchises and players can decide to enter a new contract as described above. Only the players without a contract will enter the draft/auction along with the first time players. So we could see some franchises having not retained any player and some having retained almost all of them.

    I would suggest
    3 player retain
    ( max 2 overseas/indian 1 indian/overseas)
2 rtm ( must be 2 indian if teams retain two overseas otherwise 1 oversea can be rtm)
    And four year mega auction

I think 5 year mega auction is ideal. In order to compensate for players who deserve more money, they should have contract negotiations with their franchise after 3 years. Only players who have played all 3 seasons and minimum 70-80% of matches in the 3 year cycle are applicable for contract negotiations. If the player doesn't agree on the offered contract he can go back to auction.

I would suggest 4 retained players and 2 RTM's with mega auction happening every 5 years

  • @flipperyshrey
    @flipperyshrey 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I would suggest 3 retentions and 2 rtm. I feel it’s good because the teams from the bottom can do well and come up to the top but I do buy the arguement of teams like KKR, RR and SRH feeling bad that they can’t keep the great team they formed, many a times MI and CSK and many other teams would have felt that and they were able to rebuild and win titles after any mega auction. So, mega auction is good but they should give 3 retentions and 2 RTMS.

I feel the IPL as a League is mature enough now to have a proper Transfer Market with Transfer Window..
    1) Each year there can be transfer window, through which, team can buy players from other franchises or csn sign free-agents based on their scouting data.
    2) Every 5 year we can have Mega Auction, with upto 4 Retention (3 Indian + 1 Foreigner) + 2 RTM (1 Indian + 1 Foreigner)
    3) For those players that are currently at lower pay than their market value, there can be salary negotiation between players and the franchise, if no deal from that negotiation, then the player can contact other franchise during transfer market or go to mini-auction.
    4) Mini-auction every year, only for new players or released players which franchised didn't go for during transfer window.

Mega Auction every 5 years, 4 retention (4 Ind or 2 Ind + 1 Overseas)+ 2 RTM (Ind or Overseas) + 1 Uncapped (Academy Player)

  • @irfankabirzarif2418
    @irfankabirzarif2418 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Mega Auctions should stay, but once every 5 years instead of 3, if a franchise is the first to pick a player in the IPL if the team & the player are in agreement, the retention should be allowed retention at an undisclosed amount that doesn't get deducted from the team's purse, then we 6 RTMs, not retentions. That gives teams a core of 7 players, and since it's RTMs the players also get market value amount instead of an arbitrarily imposed constant. The arbitrarily imposed constant works well for the established players, but denies youngsters their shot a fair shake.

Auction is factor which build up sensation before IPL as a wise man said half IPL is won 🏆 on Auction table
But Auction is not long term for IPL reason Auction is just one sided teams can't investment on building a team of young players from ground level who as more pursue balance buys the player if players like it or not
In literally words Auction system is used for buying object not players and that too with limit and no franchise can't invest on 15 or 14 years old talent and bring them in professional cricket structure at young age
IPL need something like limited transfer/sign in window instead of IPL auction
But for that transfer/sing window we need under 19 IPL and all IPL teams need to open cricket academy this will help cricket talent in home itself best example kkr academy players and 2024 season 👍 best example
And creating under 19 IPL require atlest another 5 to 10 years and implementing this in total will take 15 years min and IPL is new league in comparison to other league's which are 100years old

One local player should be mandatory for each IPL team like Rohit/Hardik for MI, Kohli for DC, and Shubman Gill for Punjab Kings.
That way fans will feel more connected to the teams.

Team like KKR create Players everytime by their own & Mega auction ruins everything everytime & IPL dont even allow just 6 Retention. Because IPL committee Teams like MI CSK etc wants to Control IPL

Mega Auctions are intresting but it is also doesn't make any sense especially for those teams who heavily invest in Young players.
Why would you as a team owner wanna groom a player if he's gonna be taken away from the team just after 3 years???
    That's rubbish.
If Mega auctions are to be a thing, it should only happen in every 5 or 6 year mark which gives a good sample size to look at the progress of a player.

The shuffling in mega auction every 3 years is must to make all the teams balanced so the competition will be good......otherwise the teams who will be in the top four for few years will remain there for long period which is not good for the competition
