Orion shit on me... I ordered the HCCA654NHP 4 ohm - they sent me the HCCA658NHP 8 ohm... I told them please RMA to swap them out. Then tells me they do not have them in stock, which to me sounds like they tried to pull a fast one on me to start with maybe not noticing they sent the 8 ohms, THEN he wanted to sell me the next model down at the same price, the HCCA654N 4 ohm... at this point, I am not sure what to do, I am pissed, my car is torn apart to install these. Then he was trying to convince me to use the 8 ohms in my car, I know damn well it won't let the Amp pull the 180w RMS if I use the 8 ohms, that my amp is not rated for, sure it will work but it won't drive the amp as hard. serious...

MHO, if running just the speakers then the Arnolds, since they reproduce the higher frequencies, sound clean and practically need no tweeter. If running tweeters, etc then preferably the Prv's, because they have more "body" or "voice" if you know what I mean then tweeters/drivers take care of upper freq. In my current setup Prv for the win.

Im a prv guy but damn the Arnold sound really clean
Arnold sensitivity is about 102; PRV is 96. so Arnold has + 6 dB sensitivity. So, Arnold should sound louder at the same power. If a speaker is very sensitive and without distortion, then the speaker should move little. If everything were perfect and efficiency perfect, then the speaker wouldn't move at all. But efficiency and sensitivity are not the same thing.
--PRV: about 2.2% or so efficient @ 96 dB sensitivity (tested 1w@1m?)
--Arnold: about 8.5% or so efficient @ 102 sensitivity (tested 1w@1m?0
--Not a good comparison. The PRV is more meant as a mid bass and the Arnold is a mid range-full range.
Orion! I went ahead and bought 4 of the XTR XPM104MBF series speakers for my rear channels, and the XTR XTH658 for the front channels of my XTR 2500.4. Thank you so much for these videos. When you're looking for a specific sound output, it's a hard choice to get right the first time without being able to listen to the sound beforehand. Thank you so much for this content!

@@MegaJohn334 the specs, in particular, the peak output. The HCCA neos peaked outside of my desired tuning range. So i got the XTR neos. Using a midbass channel, I needed my midrange to peak within my tuning.
The Deaf Bonce definitely plays louder and higher, but the PRV has a fuller range of sound. It would really depend on your needs. I'd dedicate the front channels to the higher crossover, and the rear channel a bit lower with the PRV. The Orion XPM is still my favorite.
Your comparing a Orion mid bass to some mid ranges! They do different things! Sure if you need a huge 2 way front stage that’s gonna be the way to go but if your doing a super loud 3 way you will need midrange to as tweeters can’t handle the middle frequencies! Always look at the FS that will tell you approximately how low it might play! Not always perfect but gets you in the neighborhood!
What xover frequencies and slopes do you use for a midbass midrange and tweets 3way setup 8s 4inch and 1in
@@bagoodperson I use a Dayton audio dsp 408. Running an Orion 2500.4 and an NVX JAD800.4. Using the Orion for midbass, and midrange. The NVX for tweets. The rear channels of the Orion I have set at 80hz- 500hz using Orion XPM104MBF with a 12db slope on a Linkowitz Riley filter. The front channels set at 500hz-5000hz using Orion 654 Neos with same filter and slope. The tweeter amp is set at 3000hz-20khz using same filter and slope. It works fine for me. Your settings and slope are really going to depend on the speakers you are using, their sensitivity and fs, your preference, and the size of your cabin as well.
So hard to call this one! I don't believe you can go wrong with either. Both sound great and have great range tho I think the Arnold's range takes the win. Doesn't play as low, but that's why subs were invented. Lol Would still love to hear the Deaf Bonce Sylvester's against some of these. A bit cheaper in price, and maybe not as loud, but they do hit the midbass well and also play fairly high up in the frequency range.
Fun seeing someone get so excited over speakers. You remind me a lot of myself in that way. Loud music doesn't make me sweat tho. Lol

Agreed, but if you say "that's why subs were invented", you can say the same about the prv not playing as high, "that's why tweeters were invented" so it's all personal preference
@@justinatmidi Subs AND tweeters(at least in my opinion) are necessary for accurate high and low frequency reproduction. A mid range, or mid bass speaker cannot handle it alone. Subs AND tweeters were invented for this reason.
The orions are great , but over a period of time dust gets in the coil area because of the design. Once that happens you hear distortion. It's very difficult to get dust particles out once it get into the coil area.
Prv for the win again! Imo anyways... I don't want screaming highs from a mid. Tweeters should serve their purpose for staging.

I use to think it didn't matter which speaker I buy I use to just go with the highest power handling. I use to use only one brand and model. Now I use different brands n get such a full sound. When people ask me what I run for mids I tell them all.

those arnold are amazing. Just installed 4 on my ram truck everybody was amazed at the shop when it was installed.

They're not mean to play much bass they are just for really loud vocals and a little bit of high frequencies. To get what you want you either need to get those and add a subwoofer or just go get some component speakers. two different goals.

My understanding is that JP worked with DB to make a speaker for him but to his spec the way he wanted it to be. How much of a difference is what I'm wondering. And also to how good that one is to others if it is in fact different sounding than the other DB mids ... I'm looking to either by DB or JP's DB lol

Mistake bro. Arnold's lack severely in midbass, without proper midbass your mids will sound tinny, and your bass won't be full and clear. It will always be missing something. Once you've heard a system with proper midbass, like with time alignment and mountains of deadening it will blow your mind.

Well.... i cant speak for neos, but i was tossing 400w rms through a set of arnold v1s on a daily basis, the only time i have seen a deafbonce speaker blow is if you clip them to death.
Jacob yea I have the Arnold’s and in my experience I didn’t blow them. But the tinsel leads do come a loose which is annoying because you have to get to the speaker to put them back in. Deaf Bonce fixed the problem at their experience tho

Thanks Mike but when you compare the power rating please we need the continuous power at 4 ohm not the max, it would be much easier for us to understand and because some brands dose not support 1 ohm for there speakers.

You can see on the back of the PRV for the program power. That's where you play it. Would be double the power therefore winning hands down as they stay clean. Dont get me wrong I like DB but PRV is stronger period.

Prv has a 1200.4 amp that's perfect for them. It's 180x4 at 4ohm which is half the power it can handle. Then it's 300x4@2ohm. That's the perfect amount for them. It's only 400$ for it. They have a dsp to help set off any stereo also. I have 3pair of thse mids and scream so loud and can hear them over my subs. I just hit q 152.4 for two 12s In a trunk build.
