I’m a heavy equipment/diesel truck mechanic. I’ve had this light since it first came out. Best flashlight I’ve ever owned all things considered. Battery lasts, the light is plenty bright for my work, and IVE NEVER LOST IT. The clip is so nice. And the company replaced my battery once so, I love it.

I just called Streamlight to confirm it does have a lifetime warranty on the entire light including battery .and my experience over the past 30 years they have covered every light that I have with no issues excellent customer service .My main attraction to this light was the belt clip and the switch so far the light has not come out of my pocket or turned on by accident

I agree with almost all the criticism but have had this light for about a year and really like it. The ease of use and the shape are really good. Rides really well in a back pocket by the wallet. I have had several regular round lights and the ones that are small enough to carry, are not bright enough. If it’s bright enough and has a replaceable battery, it’s too big for me to carry in the pocket comfortably and is better to throw in a pack. You don’t need really long run time on an edc light, it’s not meant for someone working a night shift. A battery indicator would be nice though.

The pocket clip is the entire value proposition on this thing. I've lost tons of flashlights that have none of the negatives you cite, but that have a horrible pocket clip so that it eventually falls out of my pocket. This carries like a pocket knife; you're not going to lose it.

I've had this for quite some time now, it's a good EDC user. It carries well in my left hand pockets, it's only too long for a few pairs of pants.
The best thing about it is really the simplicity of the UI, it's the one I hand to people who need a light. I don't have to explain how it works, the intuitive nature of the switch makes it easier to use.

I've heard pretty good reviews from this light. The torque test channel did a review comparing it to other similar lights and it came up at the top of the list. My co worker has one and it's super bright. Perfect for what I want to use it for. I work in a factory and the lights aren't the best so its kinda hard to see stuff sometimes, especially when something breaks and I have to find it and fix it.

I actually just bought one of these off the matco truck, a big selling point for my was the slimness and how it isnt round so it cant roll away.
So far my only disliking is the clip was a big tight to clip over my work pant pockets.

  • @Preacher65
    @Preacher65 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Pros: Design/Ergonomics. The slightly thinner profile makes accessing your pocket easier. I happen to really like the design and look of this one.
Controls: I like the on/turbo switch layout. I prioritizes unecessary full-power use, and battery life.
Cons: Sealed battery, BUT I can see dissassembly screws, and if theres one thing we can count on, it's the aftermarket to create battery replacement options.
    Price. A bit steep.

Hey Nick, unrelated to the video but I was browsing your "Flashlights and other bright ideas" playlist and thought I'd bring something up. I'm not a "tactical" guy whatsoever, but crenellations aren't only used to beat people with (because why?). They are commonly used for knowing if your flashlight is on when flat on a table. If it is on, the crenellations will allow you to see light from within whereas you wouldn't be able to notice without.
It is a niche feature for most, but for some peeps it's nice to have so they don't accidentally drain a battery or burn a piece of furniture if the light being set down is on turbo. Not saying you should like and enjoy crenellations, you got your preferences, but I think it's worthwhile to at least make you aware of a more reasonable use for them lol

I edc a Fenix PD36R. Great light, especially for outdoor use. However there are two notable downfalls that could be easily fixed on fenix's part. The USB-C port cover gets loose after using it a while. It's also not tail cap standable due to the button being taller than the bezels.

I paid 79.99 on Amazon, which is probably the lowest it’ll be without buying at wholesale.
I think that’s a reasonable price for the quality and durability this light brings to the table.
Not sure when those poor experiences were but I can tell you from my experience streamlight takes care of their customers as of 2022. I had a TLR 7 sub come in with a stepped out locking screw for the rail and 1 phone call later I was told to provide an address for a replacement.
2 days later I received another.
Also had a HL- X with a defective remote, similar resolution. Within a week another replacement no hassle.
You might’ve had to deal shitty employee not doing their job that does happen no matter where you go.
I’ve just never had an issue with the $1000s that I’ve spent with em.

I own this exact model. I love the utilitarian design. It's straight unless a need requires the form to have a curve. I could have done less with all the logo stamping on one side, but overall it's a clean look. The flat edges make it stand out from most of the other flashlights out there: mostly cylindrical and becoming more and more shiny and tiny. I agree that it's not for heavy, long-term use. It's great for intermittent use: the charge holds beautifully. How many of us had flashlights that had disposable batteries bleed acid into the hardware. The brightness is more than enough for my use. I like the way it lays predictably flat on a surface.
One unexpected positive for the shape of this flashlight: People may have noticed that it has a rough silhouette of knife scales. I live in a jurisdiction inhabited by low-level opportunistic predators and a constabulary that will assume the worst about a person carrying a knife, even if that person is wearing office-casual. For late-night walks, this in my hand, no jewelry or bag draped on me, and an athletic posture, it is enough to keep the hyenas focused on their own. I will need to turn the light on if I am ever approached by law enforcement so that they don't unbutton their holsters.

First off, I don't understand how flashlight manufacturers are so far behind when it comes to pocketclips, this being and exception.
What turns me of about carrying a 18650 based light is that it is a bit thick so I'm glad that manufacturers are exploring other form factors. While I would like the lumens of a 18650 light I wind up carrying keychain sized lights because I don't like to overload my pockets.
I like the looks of this thing but probably wont buy it because a moonlight mode is way to useful with small sleeping children in my life right now. I would like an Olight S2R but with a good clip and a flatter profile.

Its shaped too much like a knife for my liking. You could reach for one and get the other. Or it could be mistaken for a knife by a casual observer.

This is not a great light. Even amongst other similar proprietary/built in battery lights, this has weak modes and low performance. Olight's equivalent looks more compelling.
