I just wanted to thank you for being so honest about Calvin not sleeping. My daughter has always been a poor sleeper, she didn't sleep until she was nearly 13 months old, it was so draining. Ellie and Jared, I am an adult that has upper cervical issues and torticollis. It has caused me to have vertigo, balance and neurological problems. I don't know exactly how Calvin feels but it is possible he is dealing with pain and other issues that prevent him from sleeping. This will heighten your sensitivity to light, sounds, touch, etc. I have noticed that you all use the wrap to hold him some. In my opinion, I think that's not good for his neck neither is stomach sleeping. Stomach sleeping is what helped make me worse. I noticed how wobbly his head is still too and I can tell you from my own experience that is his C-1 vertebrae that is off. Have you all had an MRI done on him to check for spinal abnormalities? If you look up congenital torticollis, you'll find a lot of information. I certainly have a lot of empathy for Calvin and feel for him because he can't tell you what's wrong. I feel for you all too because it must be so exhausting in every way dealing with this. I just wanted to try and help in some way...I hope I have. You all are sweet and loving parents. I love how Ellie's parents both had E+J shirts on! Sleeping issues are so difficult. Several of our kids really struggled and it just consumes so much of your life... then you go to your friends house and they go lay their wide awake child in the crib and their baby sleeps for 10 hours!!! It's hard to not get frustrated and feel like you're doing something wrong, but the truth is that every child is different. I'm sorry you're dealing with that right now :(

in my experience and opinion, Colicky babies usually actually just have food sensitivities. The most common is milk protein so it's worth it to cut it completely out just to see if it works. That includes even butter in cookies or cheese on a taco. My baby's "reflux" is caused by dairy, eggs, soy and corn. I've heard so many other stories like this too so I just wanted to put it out there.

Ellie your mom's carpet looks like the same color as my mom had in her house. It may be 20 years old but you would never know it to look at it. But everything that we can see in your parents house looks really well taken care of. Her house is always immaculate and I love the lay out of it.
My nearly 7 month old is so similar to Calvin! he has a hard time sleeping often awake every 2 hours in the night and doesn't like naps in the day much either haha also had mild silent reflux and we had some trouble nursing in the early days, my two older children weren't like this! Things seem to be improving slowly.. hope they do for Calvin too :) love watching your family x
My son had reflux and torticollis and had a horrible time sleeping and was generally a fussy baby. He ended up getting minor surgery to correct the torticollis at 1 year old and after months of PT and ever since that procedure he has been a different baby! I'm convinced now that the tightness in his neck really did bother him but he just couldn't tell us. It will get better! Hang in there!
Jared, look into a camera repair store. They can clean the lens for you instead of shipping it off! It might cost like 100 dollars BUT you will have a clean camera!

Hearing you talk about Calvin and the frustrations tugged at my heart!! My now 5 year old (who loves this vlog) slept 45 mins and fussed or screamed for 2 hours for the first 6 months of her life. We tried millions of things and it never got 100% better until she was 3.5 and the gastrointestinal specialists would finally see her. She grows hair now, grew 4 inches in a year, she sleeps through the night easily, and her bloated belly went away. Her reflux was caused by her intestines not moving at the right speed. The short version of this story, I am so sorry it is hard!!!! I am praying for you! go with your mama gut, and it will get better!!
It gets better! I had an extremely colicky baby with acid reflux for the first six months of her life. It felt like years! But once we got over that rough bump she's been a breeze!
my youngest just outgrow reflux she was on meds from 3 months to 13 months. when she finally hit around 10 months she started falling asleep easily. it use to be worse than from what I see on the outside. she's now 16 months and off her medicine and sleeps like a champ! you guys will get through it!
My son had reflux and we had him elevated at all times when he was sleeping. If your not doing that, maybe give it a try. I will be praying for Baby Calvin.

Just putting some towels under one end of the mattress would likely elevate his head enough to give some relief. If that's what the problem is. Ellie and Jared you guys are such good parents and handling everything so well, I hope Calvin improves soon for both his sake and yours.
I had to the same thing my son . always elevated no milk products til he was one . he was taking nutramigen formula only thing that helped not even the medication made a difference.

I'm 17 and I have had chronic migraines for 2 years now. Everyday for two years I wake up with a headache and go to sleep with it. Along with the headache I have neck pain like there's a lot of tension in my neck. I always feel like my neck is up in my ears and I have to stretch it out constantly. I did chiropractic treatment for months but it didn't help the headache. I'm just sharing because of what you were saying about Calvin. Obviously he's a baby so it's different, but whenever my headache gets bad all I want is sleep. Just thought I would share :)
Ellie, don't be too hard about it. The days/nights may be long. But the years go by way too quickly. My babies are all grown now, 25, 18, and 16. What I would give to be of comfort to a fussy child. You're doing great. Keep going!

Ellie does Calvin still have the silence reflux? If so you need to elevate him while he sleeps. My pedi told us to put a 2x4 wood under one side (top) and have the babies head up there. I was worried about rolling, so I got a large towel and made two rolls on both ends while the towel was under my son. It got better when he got older the the towel worked or since he's still small maybe just two receiving blankets, so it prevents him from rolling. Hope this helps, he could be associating sleep with pain
You might want to think about giving Calvin some children's Tylenol and/or children's Benadryl for pain and to help him relax and possibly unstuff his nose. Also, chamomile tea is good for relaxation and possibly could help him sleep. May need to add just a little milk and sugar to help the taste. I don't know. Just a thought.
You know what parenting is hard and draining and you of all people know how precious s child is, so you have every right to moan/complain/rant about how things get a little bit frustrating its your baby and your life - no one has the right to tell you otherwise. You guys are such loving parents and your children are so wanted and loved and happy, your family is so amazing and beautiful and I love watching your vlogs because they make me smile so much. +Ellie and Jared - I used to work for Canon. If you live near a Canon office/service centre, you might be able to try taking it there to get cleaned.... Depending on your warranty it may be a warranty repair, or there may be an out of pocket fee.... I worked in the call centre in the head office at canon Australia but quite a few times I spent days in the service centre just observing what the guys did there :-) and my uncle is a professional photographer and he would get his camera services there on a monthly basis- while-you-wait service!
Have you token Calvin to the doctors lately about the sleeping problem? I had the same type of thing, I always had headaches after school and I would always feel horrible. My parents took me to the doctors and found out I had a small Sinus Infection. After medicine, I felt so much better. Hopefully Calvin will sleep better!

Ellie does Calvin still have the silence reflux? If so you need to elevate him while he sleeps. My pedi told us to put a 2x4 wood under one side (top) and have the babies head up there. I was worried about rolling, so I got a large towel and made two rolls on both ends while the towel was under my son. It got better when he got older the the towel worked or since he's still small maybe just two receiving blankets, so it prevents him from rolling. Hope this helps, he could be associating sleep with pain

A little sleep sack will cure that crib climbing problem 😂 they are loose around the legs, but they can't spread their legs far enough to climb out😊
You might want to think about giving Calvin some children's Tylenol and/or children's Benadryl for pain and to help him relax and possibly unstuff his nose. Also, chamomile tea is good for relaxation and possibly could help him sleep. May need to add just a little milk and sugar to help the taste. I don't know. Just a thought.
You know what parenting is hard and draining and you of all people know how precious s child is, so you have every right to moan/complain/rant about how things get a little bit frustrating its your baby and your life - no one has the right to tell you otherwise. +Ellie and Jared - I used to work for Canon. If you live near a Canon office/service centre, you might be able to try taking it there to get cleaned.... Depending on your warranty it may be a warranty repair, or there may be an out of pocket fee.... I worked in the call centre in the head office at canon Australia but quite a few times I spent days in the service centre just observing what the guys did there :-) and my uncle is a professional photographer and he would get his camera services there on a monthly basis- while-you-wait service!

Have you token Calvin to the doctors lately about the sleeping problem? I had the same type of thing, I always had headaches after school and I would always feel horrible. My parents took me to the doctors and found out I had a small Sinus Infection. After medicine, I felt so much better. Hopefully Calvin will sleep better!
