Another interesting update, Scott. I’m always impressed with your jigs and how they aid in getting repeatable results on multiple parts. I’m currently working out how to bottle up some Arizona USA heat and ship it to you. It has been hitting very near 120 Fahrenheit and frankly, I’d really like to get rid of at least 20 degrees of it.

    G'day,
    Yay Team !
    I'm
    REALLY
    Lovin' this...
Having bought a 5/6 completed Plans/Scratch-built Project, with a 1.5mm Styrofoam/Dacron/Laminating-Epoxy "Half-Sandwich" Leading-Edge Skin (made with Araldyte mixed with insufficient Catalyst - "to allow more Set-up time, before it goes off..." which was STILL Tacky to the touch 5 years later - when I bought it... (and busted that SHIT Off totally, replacing it with 2024 T-3 Aluminium Sheetmetal - from Core-Sample Tray-Covers bought for $0.42 per Kg, in 1986....{!} ).
    It's a
    Real
    Pleasure, to see someone
    Doing it
    RIGHT...
    From the
    Start.
    5 Gold Stars..., & a
    Wedgetail
    Stamp !
    Keep on keepin' on.
    ;-p
    Ciao !

Looks great and a lot of math. I was wondering - will you need 2 ribs where the wing separates?

The upper wing rear wire needs to go to the spot where you noticed there was no welded bracket, so both wires would be perpendicular to upper wing and the force will be straight down. With the rear wire where you now have it, the wire is pulling back on the trailing edge, fighting the downward force direction of the leading edge wire.

Thanks, manufacture has moved it to the rear spar to stop the need to penetrate through the wing.

Hi, Scott. I've followed your build with interest. If you're still looking for wood to cover the Camel's front turtledeck, your local woodworking shop may carry "bendable" plywood. It worked well for my SE5a's turtledeck.

Thanks, can you get it pretty thin? 2mm or 1/16 thick

Hi, again! I've used 1/8 inch (0.125 in, just over 3 mm) successfully. Even 1/4 inch bends to a small radius. It's amazing the first time you see it.
And my SE5a is Airdrome Aeroplanes, btw.
      Regards,
      John Laczin

What did your fixture look like that you used to create the initial upper rib curve? That's the thing that is killing me right now.

Robert supplied a paper template that looks like a fat goldfish for top and bottom ribs. Send me a Facebook message and I will take a photo.

Bloody hell...I thought that was for the finished upper and lower rib profiles, in spite of it clearly saying bend fixture on the paper. Ughhhhhh...sometimes I wonder how I've made it this long in life.🤦
