  • Hey folks, Arlyeon here- with a bit of a big one, since I decided to dive into the guts of #indiedev Item 42's #roguelite #hacknslash #fps #Perish. A Co-op game with a bit of a focus on high lethality- though, one which I ultimately found myself favoring more as a single player endeavour.
P.S. While it had eluded me at the time to comment on it, due to how much time I spent solo- I figure I ought to mention, if you die in Co-op, you are dead for the rest of that stage, so- there is definitely some pretty lengthy stretches of time to twiddle your thumbs. And given you don't get access to the same sort of cards to empower yourself as a winning player- the gap in your utility will rapidly compound itself for the late game.
Still, if you're curious about it- you can check it out for yourself @ store.steampow...

Nice review Crit Hit, it honestly feels like a fair asessment of the game unlike the other reviews out there which are just flatout telling people not to play it at all.
While it is true that right now the game can be considered a "fumble" I'm hoping "Item_42" will continue to upgrade and patch the game a significant amount in order to help with it's overall lack of variety.
This game feels like it could be an easy recommend in the near future if the devs don't flatout abandon the game and give us an expansion perhaps with some roguelite features that I personally feel would make the game more enjoyable.
In example: a crown that lets you hold two weapons, a cursed priestess in each biome that gives you power for a price, a deposit box that spawns randomly mid-run for saving your danake so they can do away with the bank card reward for something more interesting, a slot machine with random power up cards etc, etc...
Well, thanks for the review and much appreciated if you took the time to read my ramblings.
    Have a good one

See- I found some of the cursed cards, like more gold, but more enemies spawn- were interesting. Yes, that one falls off in utility late game- but the idea of mixed blessings was nice. I really do wish there were more perk cards at large, including risk/reward ones, and some weapon specific ones to really ramp up the variance in a match.
There's a -lot- that could have been done, really, to make it so the game felt more varied, at the end of the day, including a bigger pool of objectives and less 'Hold this point'.
Also, I do agree, there's definitely a chance it might get better, given that the Devs are continuing to release updates.
(Also, nice to see you again- and in case you were wondering, yes, that other vid is releasing soon). :p

I don't really agree with the review, but I think its fair. I really enjoyed the game and have unlocked everything... still need to complete that Orphic run though.

Game is bad. And not in a good way. Imagine if they had money and didn't have to do the rogue thing. Rogue is one of my fav category. But this is trash. Anyway, good review man.
Should rename it....Remnant for the trashes. Or.....gunfire OH- BOY!

    • @CritHit

I still need to play the remnant games.
I -do- have a gunfire review in the works with a few peers of mine, since I found what it did to be fairly interesting.
But yeah- their take on Rogue(lite) stuff was...I feel interesting, but ultimately flawed/tedious.
P.S. Thanks for the praise- glad you enjoyed the review.

@@CritHit OMG!...You haven't played remnant from the ashes....? or gunfire?....WHY?

@@-RAYZ- No No, Like I said- I've played Gunfire, and have a review in the works. It's just. Aligning schedules with other creators is an awful, painful experience.
