Great vid. Like you, i absolutely had to have a Vario. I bought an 02 plate LWB and it was riddled with rust but almost two years later its fighting fit. I removed all the waxoyl from the underbody and ladder and painted it in ToughOx 2K primer then Raptor 2K in Kawasaki green, looks wild!
I've seen those coaster buses in lots of places. I'm sure that Mercedes don't actually care (it sells new cars quicker if the old ones rust away). My old Subaru Outback does not have a speck of rust on it and will last forever by the look of it...
normal...Mercedes has also had big problems with Sprinter (white colour) even newer model after 2007 - and same with A-Klasse, E-Klasse...made in Germany ;-) --- by the way in 2008 a quality manager from Mercedes Benz (I was owner of a rental company and we bought about 150 new Sprinter a year, after 6 months most of them hat already rust) told me it was not fair to compare Fiat Ducato with Sprinter "as Ducato is galvanized".... we never bought other Sprinter
Interesting video. The paint will fall off a Ducato, but it'll not rust behind it. I did consider a Vario but opted for a chassis-cab (MAN) and a composite panel body instead.
Very interesting - thank you! There are not that much sources on the web regarding Mercedes Vario and all the related problems. However, in your Video, there is a lot of background noise that makes it difficult to understand you. Maybe another microfone could solve this problem. Thanks once more and regards
Hi, thanks for your kind comments. I'm only trying to make videos about things that have not already been covered by someone else. Yes they're terrible and the camerawork is awful. I mumble a lot, don't always get it right and there's a lot of background noise. But when I look at new cameras that use microphones costing many £'s, I think "I could buy a new thing for the van with that!" I don't really care about likes/dislikes/views or subscriptions and so the van will always come first. That said - I'll try to be clearer next time :0)
It varies, sometimes they're in short supply so I've shopped around on ebay. Mostly they come from Easyparts UK who seem quite reasonable but I believe they are all sourced from the same factory. watch out for price variations and shipping costs especially. I wouldn't say they are great quality either, the body panels are way too thin to weld, nothing like the original. However the footwells are pretty good, if not quite a perfect fit.
Great vehicles i never owned a vario, i drove two old 814 7.5 ton rigids back in the day. Thanks for the video

It's expensive stuff that Raptor isn't it? I've seen some good results though. Shame you can't post photos in these comments...

Interesting! I've had a Sprinter and an E Class Estate in the past - both went rusty well before their time.

I do like the MAN vans - especially the TGE range

Thanks for the videos. Where do you buy your replacement panels from?

Great video.Now shall I shan’t I buy a Vario
lol. If you can weld, or learn to weld, it’s still worth it. I’d do it all again tomorrow!
