Actually, this is a nice elevator, but I'm not surprised that the other one is broken, and the motor sounds amazingly like that of an ESCO elevator.

Man with Schindler elevators, seeing one broken down like that is quite common
Sounds like it could have been a Westy by that motor and the wood cab. Not to mention the ones in the Sheraton were Westys. I could be wrong though.
These were installed in 1998 with the opening of the Adams Mark Hotel.
When an elevator runs about 7 floors in total, it should be Traction.
