Excellent video!!!! I love my SE's. I've got an older Korean Custom 24 Floyd (right before they started putting Paul's signature on the headstock....so it just says "SE,"), as well as a 35th Anniversary SE Custom 24 with the mini toggles for splitting. The latter is where I think PRS started injecting a new level of premium in the SE lines. Scrape binding showing a beautiful maple cap, the 24-08 switching system, abalone birds, and this newer nut material they've been using that combined with their amazing trem makes the tuning stability amazing. And I happen to LOVE the import 85/15 'S' pickups. They are some of my favorites. Only change I made was PRS lockers and it's well worth it. That's my go to guitar that I bought for my 50th. But I've been GASSING HARD on the Dustie in Waring Burst for quite some time, and that's why I've been hounding you for the demo since your unboxing, and have held off on pulling the trigger until your demo. Every demo has given amazing praise for it, but I really want your take. I do want the Floyd version, so maybe when new stock goes out most people will grab the hardtail.
Yeah if I worked in Maryland I'd be a little nervous. Their only move is to start putting USA pickups in teh S2 (like the limited run he covered here) but that's going to cut into the Core guitars.
I was right in Front of Dustie at a show in their Trivium tour, and it makes total sense why he has those massive knobs. He works them allll the time during their set
I think the thing with PRS is they are so consistent with quality that if you walked into two different stores and played the same model, they'd feel exactly the same. Whereas, with Fender or Gibson, you are shopping around for the right one that feels good in your hand, because they could be very different from each other. So, if you do find one, then it feels like it was made for you. If you don't like a PRS model, you won't like any guitar in that model since they all feel the same. You won't find one that fits you, because they all feel that way. I think that's why people think PRS feels a bit too clinical or polished. There's little variation with each guitar. So much so, that even their SE line is very close to the original. If you do connect with a PRS model, then you'll be able to just buy one blindly and know they already nailed it. So, I can see why people may not like PRS, but I also see why they are so highly regarded for their consistency and quality. They are great guitars.
Yeah that’s the general consensus with PRS. Not alot of character from the guitars, but you won’t find one with any flaws. It’s a neutral sounding instrument waiting for you to do something with it. All comes down to whether you like that or not. Most times I don’t, but sometimes I do. lol best to just splurge get Fender, Gibson, and PRS. After that venture into other brands. Haha I have 2 PRS SE’s and 1 Gibson Les Paul, and I love them but I still end up playing my Fenders the most. I just love telecasters. I fully believe PRS will release a telecaster shape at some point like they did with the silver sky.
Starting to wonder if the PRS is going to discontinue the S2 line. The McCarty SE series are finally getting the true pattern vintage necks instead of wide-fat, and it seems the small details are beginning to approach the realm of the S2 series.
It's nice to finally see the SE versions of the McCarty. I don't like the bridge choice of the 245, so having a "proper" bridge and tailpiece makes that single-cut shape much better IMO.
These new guitars were a very cool move for PRS. I'd normally go for LTD over PRS SE but PRS managed to keep the price several hundred dollars lower. I may end up adding a couple of these to my collection.
@kaingates In my experience they're very close. I've had several of each and they've all been very good. I am seeing some posts in the forums about some QC issues with the new SE's like bad soldering but I'm not sure if that's just a few or a real problem. Normally I'd be happy buying either brand but with the increase in LTD prices I'd likely choose the SE guitars.
Pre ordered the GT SE DGT but really want a 594... then that new green DW is just sick. Looks like I'll be selling some stuff to hopefully buy 3 PRS models this year.
That Dusty Waring CE-24 hardtail is probably the only PRS I'd seriously consider. Maple fretboard and bolt-on neck, plus you only get the outline of the bird inlays (I don't like the bird inlays). Looks clean. I'd probably swap out the knobs for something else, but I dig it.
I’m kinda torn on the new Mark Holcomb sig because the new pickups are exciting but I really loved the Brisket Burst and the Natural walnut finishes, but I’m sure I’ll come around the the blue burst esp if/when I see it in person. On a different note, the Dustie Waring HT sig is making me regret not having more money cuz I would be all over that lol
The only thing that bothers me with the new Mark Holcombs is the increase in price without the addition of locking tuners. I really want it but I'm conflicted due to the lack of locking tuners in an import metal guitar that costs about $1,200
@@nathanielcava4128 dude yes. What I'm thinking about doing is waiting for someone to sell one of these new Holcombs used and hopefully modified with locking tuners because I don't know if I'm ok with buying one of these new without locking tuners
@@evenzeroescanbeheroes6875 I totally get it, LTD and Schecter are definitely making it hard to compete at the price point with how many features they give you for the money, so this one not having locking tuners is rough. But, something else you could do if you’re cool with the price point otherwise, just call sweetwater and ask if they can give you a better price and put whatever they save you toward a locking tuner upgrade. If they can drop ~$100, which is less than 10%, that would pay for a set of the SE lockers. Convoluted, but an option.
The Meyers SE from 2021 - Change the Tuners to locking Tuners, and lube the nut, It helps in keeping it in tune with minimal pitchdrift, personally I like it because it plays like old LPs and SGs that did the exact same thing, Chances are your old rock heroes of your favorite songs were never in proper tunings anyways and on top of that they rarely were in tune due to Strobe/Chromatic Tuners not being plentiful especially in the 50's 60's and 70's(it was by ear and tuning fork or very expensive large Strobotuners(60's/70's)), If I remember correctly a guy told me nobody was in tune till they hit the studio unless they had a godlike ear because at that time the tuners were large boxes and you only first started seeing them in studios that could afford them, he said during the 80's when Boss made a small chromatic Tuner is really when people started playing more in tune.
Quick note on scale length, 24.594" is actually the same as Gibsons, they don't use a true 24.75 despite advertising as such. There's nothing about scale length that will make a guitars tuning unstable or poor to intonate. The ZM will have a new scale length either because the artist prefers it or simply for tooling/ production simplicity. It appears PRS has dropped 245's from its current SE lineup.
A friend of mine just ordered one of those Myers PRS's. I'll get my hands on it for a try out, I've been keeping my Solar back for just such an occasion lol.
Roseacer is actually roasted maple. it's just a lot darker to mimic rosewood. So, in theory would be better than rosewood for stability. less of a chance for fret sprout or cracks.
Hey Hunter, when you post your demo on the Dustie CE24, please comment on what you think about the price for what you are getting. Thanks for all that you do!
I just wish they could include some stainless steel frets and more satin finishes. (that said, still really want that hardtail waring model, and every other model tbh)
@@Ottophil I have multiple guitars with both stainless and traditional frets. Any decrease in string longevity is negligible, no matter what the internet tells you. Absolutely love this lineup announcement for 2023. I absolutely love my SE 245. The 594 se and the dusty both have my attention. Would be great to see a prs t style in the future for sure though!
Those Dustie Waring models have quickly become my favourite-looking guitars. I can only hope and pray that PRS consider real easing an SE version of his range. They’re beautiful!
I once played Dusty’s red burst sig yeses back and I had no idea who he was or what that guitar was all I knew was that it played amazingly and was such a sick guitar. But I hated the Floyd. I had to get someone to record me playing it so I could remember it forever it played so good. THANK FUCKIN GOD it has a stop tail now, I will be doing everything I can to get one of those.

The thing I fell in love with PRS is the consistency in all guitars. Im a Fender guy but have gone thru over 20 strats and they all sounded and felt different some in good and bad ways. PRS is consistently good in everything. I hope they come out with more silver sky varieties.
I'm stoked about the SE McCarty 594 Single Cut and SE DGT. I have to try out both....maybe buy both. Bringing them down to the SE line means there's a possibility to maybe afford one by the end of the year. My playing is mostly in Blues rock, Americana, Worship world that channels vintage tones. PRS is pushing that they've done even more for already great quality control even in their budget friendly models. I can't wait to experience them!
You certainly dont need to hear it from me since you had your hands on a S2 McCarty for a minute, but I fully endorse that to scratch your PRS itch, especially the double-cut version. Yea single cult and all that, but it's just such a different vibe from your typical single or double cut. Like, it can hang out with both and not feel out of place but it's still it's own thing. Love mine in whale blue and fire red do be lookin hot.
Nothing but love for the SE line but this just reinforces my thoughts that the S2 McCarty Singlecut is the best bang for the buck at PRS. I like the carve/contours of the S2 more than the core or the almost flat top SE. You'll also find more color choices with the S2, including custom colors the dealers often order.
I love green guitars, so I'd love one of those green ones with a Floyd. I also love purple guitars, so I wish that PRS would make flame top purple, that's not a smokey colour, just pure purple!
I'd love to try an SE McCarty, but I don't know if I'm crazy about the 10 inch fretboard radius. I'd prefer 12....and why no locking tuners on anything?
Much better line up the what ibanez is putting out for this year... what's the update with your new signature? I saw the photos you teased us im ready to pre order lol

The lineup is good, I just wish we could get a SE version of the Dustie Waring in Waring Burst. I love that guitar and it's been tempting me since its release, but it's 3k.
I said the same thing but it might be more affordable without the Floyd Rose which I personally wouldn't use. Really just like the maple neck and the color. Yea bring an SE! 👍
@@tractorgt I love floyds so I'd like them to keep it, but hardtail would do, too. If the Holcomb can be sold for 1k with expensive pickups, it'd make sense to have a SE Waring at the same price for the Floyd and sub 1k for the hardtail. PRS please !
The alpha omega I think are specifically good for lower tunings. I have two mark holcomb signatures, one In Drop C one svn in drop g# and they sound great, but the one I dropped into the bridge of my standard tuning cutlass can definitely be harsh. Side note, kinda sucks that the price on the Holcomb went up so much without doing anything to upgrade it, like at least change out the nut and throw on SE locking tuners.
Yeah it's unfortunate because I have an SE Custom 24 which I like a lot. If they ever made the McCarty SE in a lefty, I would immediately buy it. The only lefties are either the one SE model or a wood library which is about 5000-6000 dollars.
I thought of you as soon as I saw these. Saw one in an instagram video and it wasn't the whole guitar, so I just tought, *''hmm seems a bit sus this one'',* then I found out they FINALLY made an SE McCarty! I think I'm going for a Vintage Sunburst Single cut as I like being able to also see the wood on the back, despite the Tobacco is really nice as well. Really fair priced as well.
Ok, i just own the cheap DST HB copy - but yes, the neck is the magic thing for me too. I don't wanna play my other guitars since. For me it opened up my playing incredible. The neck Dudes, the neck.
I can't stand their bird inlays. The biggest reason I'd never buy one. Finding just plain dot inlay versions from their past lineups on the used market is so difficult. Pup rings don't bother me as much, but I do understand people who don't like them
@@michaeldoerksen2841 yeah I don’t care for inlays at all. If I found one without but it has pup rings I’d deal with that at least. I have a Jericho edge so that kind of takes care of my prs without my dislikes. Surprised prs didn’t sue over that like Gibson is suing Jericho right now lol
Prs is by far the best bang for the buck and consistent quality control, I have an s2 and a SE and the main difference for me between the 2 is the s2 has locking tuners and a slightly thicker neck. I did swap the pups tho but even factory they are super close to each other.
I want that new Mark Holcomb blue burst 6 string, maybe modified with some EMGs like the guitarist from All That Remains. Those specs sound awesome combined.
PRS needs more semi hollows. I like the Zach Myers, but would like a double cut version that looks similar to the single cut Zach Myers has had. I have the older Zach Myers vintage orange burst.
I really just need to try more PRS in general. They are constantly looking gorgeous and I know that overall, the quality is sure to impress. I really want to try the Holcomb stuff (not that I [can] play anything like him). Lately I've been more into Fender Style guitars (moving from gibson/archtop style), and I understand PRS has a healthy mix of flat and archtop. This year my goal is to eliminate all my debt, so gear and other excess is going out the door. Maybe someday, PRS.
just bought a 21 zach myers but didn't know about the pitch drift problems, should've sprung another 100$ for a mint one that keeps tuning better...wish I knew before
Never thought that folks go nuts on the DW Signature cause BTBAM still kind of niche but hell yeah that’s the freaking sickest PRS out there and with the hardtail now there is no excuse 😇 If only I could choose a color 😂
"Dentists" in 2023 are going to be real happy. Your thoughts on the new PRS lineup?

@@tractorgt I love floyds so I'd like them to keep it, but hardtail would do, too.
If the Holcomb can be sold for 1k with expensive pickups, it'd make sense to have a SE Waring at the same price for the Floyd and sub 1k for the hardtail. PRS please !
If they’d put the new bridge/tailpiece and knob arrangement on the Zach Myers, I’d buy 2.
I was hoping to see more lefty SEs added but no dice for us southpaws
Yeah it's unfortunate because I have an SE Custom 24 which I like a lot. If they ever made the McCarty SE in a lefty, I would immediately buy it. The only lefties are either the one SE model or a wood library which is about 5000-6000 dollars.
I agree, i also thought the Standards looked better, im really not a veneer guy.
PRS are the best. Just bought my second yesterday! (A blue 24-08)
EXCELLENT.
I think these are all awesome. The look, quality, and playability is all fantastic. I just don't hanker for any of them.
I just wish they did an se McCarty with the wrap around stop tail bridge I prefer how those look better than the 594’s
Does PRS have any thinner necks? Thin C, speednecks etc in their lineup?
Prs se hollowbody ii piezo is what’s floating my boat.
I ordered the Goldtop DGT se. I want the 594 singlecut too!!!!
I love prs guitars but I wish they’d make more models with no inlays or pickup rings.
@@mikekashouty516 Gibson has had their fair share of legal disputes with PRS over the years. I think they've given up on that front
@@michaeldoerksen2841 they need to give up all the lawsuit bs and focus on making quality guitars and make them consistent as well.
@@mikekashouty516 couldn't agree more
PRS SE and CE guitars sound so much better than what other modern brands offer in that price range. Glad they‘re still expanding the lineup!
I want a blacktop Waring but I'll probably put EMGs in it.
I want 1 of each. Can't afford even 1, but I want them all!
They are killing it that's what they're doing 👏
Prs is by far the best bang for the buck and consistent quality control, I have an s2 and a SE and the main difference for me between the 2 is the s2 has locking tuners and a slightly thicker neck. I did swap the pups tho but even factory they are super close to each other.
Heck. I’m still getting used to my 2022 SE 24-08😮
Does the single cut have a new carve as well 😐
I want that new Mark Holcomb blue burst 6 string, maybe modified with some EMGs like the guitarist from All That Remains. Those specs sound awesome combined.
I wish they would keep the original Holcomb burst as a color option
PRS needs more semi hollows. I like the Zach Myers, but would like a double cut version that looks similar to the single cut Zach Myers has had. I have the older Zach Myers vintage orange burst.
I have a TORERO with EMG'S..love it
I really just need to try more PRS in general.
I mean I know the maple fretboard on the Dustys are kind of it’s thing… but it would be cool if they did rosewood or ebony version
just bought a 21 zach myers but didn't know about the pitch drift problems, should've sprung another 100$ for a mint one that keeps tuning better...wish I knew before
I would like to see a PRS SE Jazz guitar.
Wonder if a new Tremonti will come out
Never thought that folks go nuts on the DW Signature cause BTBAM still kind of niche but hell yeah that’s the freaking sickest PRS out there and with the hardtail now there is no excuse 😇 If only I could choose a color 😂
McCarty was born in my hometown of somerset, ky
Still waiting for the SE Vela
The hollowbody piezo?
I REALLY want one of the anniversary S2 for the pickups, already have an S2 594 SC so I probably wont pull the trigger but damn ....
Any new silver sky se colors.?
I think another reason for the 594 length was due to the Gibson lawsuit over the single it which was 24 3/4
I have the Starla and I love it
