When I used to work as a sales guy at Carmax, Santander was the loan company that always approved people with really bad credit. That explains why there are so many of their cars in that lot.

    • @SouthsideKidd550

So true. I had a 2015 Toyota Corolla S that I had bought from Carmax back in like 2018. Santander approved me even though I had like a 580-590 credit score at that time. Well, hardtime hit me. The pandemic hit in 2020, I got furloughed. I called Santander they worked with me for a little minute. I just didnt have the $480 a month note. I would make small payments until they couldnt take them anymore. Well, 4 months later Santander got me. Black Ram snatch truck got my car out the driveway. I politely approached the man and gave him the key without attitude. Why because I understand... if you dont pay that note, you lose your ride.

I had a plain white ex cop car crown vic. You do get noticed by the police and everyone gets out of your way. Took it for inspection and they were convinced i was undercover. They went through that car with a fine tooth comb. Never had any issues with it either. Resale values are low on them. I would definitely not drive that one with any lights attached legal or not.

In two different states where I lived, sirens were illegal on "civilian" vehicles, except for volunteer firemen or EMS. "Civilians" could have the light bars and other emergency lights, as long as the lights were either amber or white. I one state, red and blue lights were legal on tow trucks and emergency service vehicles (like a AAA service truck), in the other red and blue were illegal. One the things that is nice about these particular police vehicles at the auction is the light/radio/computer control unit and console is still in them. That is an expensive unit to control the lights, but it also is set up for two-way radios and computers. Storm chasers, Skywarn volunteers, and amateur radio operators like them because they are easy to wire up for those uses, and the cabling for the various antennas has already been installed in the vehicle.

Owning and driving an ex-cop car on public roadways is perfectly legal, even with all the bells and whistles. It only becomes illegal when you drive on public roadways with the red & blues lights on. You can only use the red & blue lights on private roads and properties. The only time you can use the lights on a public road, is for an event, or you have permission from the authority's there with you.

20:25 The 2014-2016 Impala Limited was a fleet sales only carryover of the 9th generation, 2006-2013. They all have the 300 HP 3.6 LFX V6 and the 6T75 transmission, and I believe they all came with dual exhaust. They're surprising fast for a quiet 3,800 lb sedan, they don't suffer from torque steer, and they'll get 30+ MPG highway. Unless the factory spark plug have 210K miles on them. That costs around 3 MPG and a noticeable amount of power...
I've found it easier to tell parts store clerks that I need something for a 2013 Impala. Those are identical, and the fact that "Limited" denotes an entirely different car and not just a trim level is hard for some of them to grasp.

In most states (probably all, but I can't be certain), it's perfectly legal to own a fully decked out ex-cop car. Now, there are lots of rules (and occasionally laws) about the government *selling* a fully decked out car... Very likely why they removed the logos, but but the lights... Probably not required in whatever jurisdiction they came from. Typically the rules/laws say that you need to prove that you're an LEO or similar (maybe a volunteer fire fighter who's allowed to have blue lights in your state, Illinois being one of those [in Iowa, they could only have red]) to be able to purchase the car from the government... It's possible these two (and the one you had) have the same stipulation.
Where it's a gray area is if it's got all the stickers still... You could argue that it's a tribute car (like a 1974 Dodge Monaco painted to whatever jurisdiction's livery was in the mid-70s) and only used for show purposes, which is really common for old cop cars... Without proof that you're *intentionally* trying to impersonate a cop, they can't get you for anything. With that said, if you're tailgating people like a cop would when they're running the plate, wearing something that looks like a cop uniform, etc., then they've got a case against you. Also, LEOs hate fake cops just about as much as military hate stolen valor, so unless you're driving that 70s tribute car (which they'd probably pull you over just to check it out and tell you how cool it is lol), expect to get all the attention.
Lastly, if you have inspections in your state (many require VIN inspections if it came out of state, etc.), and that could prevent you from registering it, but I'd you get it registered with private plates, there's little they can do if you're otherwise following the law.

Put your GoPro on 4K 30FPS or 4K 24FPS and you won’t have overheating issues as much. 4K 60FPS should only really be used if you want to slow your footage down as it helps keep it smooth with the higher frame rate.

4K30 and 24 both overheat all the time. Pretty common when the heat index is 110+ out here.

I remember years ago having a conversation with a buddy when they first started the new cylinder deactivation. The question even back then was how can they turn off cylinders without causing engine damage? They can't.

Laws from state to state differ in some states you would be in trouble others no problem unless you use the equipment on the public streets. In some states if the law allows off duty officers can have equipment on private cars most used for off duty part-time work. If your department has take home car most can use the company car for off duty work if department allows.

About the cop cars I'm pretty sure your ok unless you put "Police" or "Sheriff" anywhere on it. Me personally, I'd put a "not in service" sticker on it. Just don't use the lights/siren to run red lights or screw with people lol.

I have a vehicle financed with Santander and yeah they approve you even with bad credit but the bad thing is that they don't let you refinance and the interest is stupid high mine is at 17% on a 15 f150

You could have a police car set up exactly the way that that is the problem is when you start traveling with the lights on you can sit in your yard all day long with the lights on but the moment that you turn them lights on while on a public road That’s where it becomes an issue

On those new LT 6.2's, they all sound good, right up until the moment a valve spring breaks and drops a valve into a piston. This is far too common of a problem that GM has not addressed.

Usually you cannot get hold of these complete cop cars. They are collector cars. So you can sell these for quite a bit of money to people that keep these cars simply in a garage. Sometimes ex cops.
