Retired volunteer firefighter... Always had respect for the RC's, worked along side several awesome members! Never really dealt with city cops, except once in Vancouver....and that wasn't a bad encounter. The rural RCMP seem to be mellower than the larger cities, but i wouldn't test that!!!! EDIT Duncan!!!! I lived close to there, Lake Cowichan!!! EDIT X2!! Port Hardy is my favorite small town!!! Lived there for years!! If you like fishing, come to Hardy...maybe even Rivers Inlet!!!! Lots of memories!!!

Hopefully will get a trainer that is experienced and hopefully likes their job. Did you enjoy your time being an RCMP?
Worked as an LEO in Winnipeg area for 32 years. Now live in Pentiction policed by the RCMP. Coming from Wpg I find that the RCMP are less than desirable as a police agency.
Actually landing in Canada Manitoba in small community my first interaction with police was the RCMP. Due to my speed. I just had my first Canadian D license combined with my first ticket as well, my husband’s antique car didn’t had display in Kms so was confused my 71 mph is kms lol! I was thinking about European standards not Canadian 🇨🇦 so I took full accountability on an all my Canadian speed tickets.
I received a call from the police officer who responded to a citizen complaint about myself while someone was threatening me after serving a 12-year sentence for drug trafficking and gangsterism. The ex-inmate claimed to have information regarding my case, but the police officer didn't appear to know anything about it. He had information from the police inquired. I am not concerned about racism, but the security of my personal information is of utmost importance to me. I am tired of relying on connections through friends. I apply to RCMP, I will learn about this problem. They blocked computer access after hiring me at the government, and I received a refusal to receive documentation concerning my hiring. They can't watch the profiles of their employees abroad; it is not regular.
No difference a cop roache is a cop roache. Different uniforms both try and look like GI Jane. Like there in a war. They even call themselves same titles captain Lieutenant ya right.

Everything is better with city cops. 1) Stability 2) equipment 3) uniform 4) support. I found that RCMP are let down by their department and management. Officers moral are often down...some of them wish to transfer with city police. People will often use RCMP as a open door to get in with policing if they know they wont meet the criteria for city police...after 3 years they can re-apply as a experience officer which will be more easier for them.

Pay and pensions are better municipal. Less stress of moving your family. My experience has been that municipal police are much further ahead when it comes to the members mental health, but that’s just my experience.
@@wssapman686 Nothing beats the defined benefit pension of the federal government. Municipal might have higher salary but there is a lot they don't have (sick leave, occupational healthcare benefits Ie private clinic treatment etc).
You were living in a motor home? The RCMP didn't treat you right. They send you far flung from Depot and don't subsidize your living accommodations, that's some sort of breech.
Hi Clint thank you for the video! I have a university degree and have applied to the RCMP and city cop. Should I do police foundations in the meantime until I hopefully get hired. Or is it a waste of money? Would I benefit more in working security until I’m hired? Thank you
If you want to get a college degree, get something unique that differentiates you from all the other police foundations/ criminology applicants. Computer/cyber/paramedic/social work/. Will make your application much more valuable since you would bring rare/unique skills.
As an owner of a German Shepherd, (who is very protective and does not like other dogs or strangers to come anywhere near me) I can tell you that it gives me anxiety when little dogs run up to us off-leash. My dog is not only on a leash during walks but he has a prong and an e-collar on so I can control him 100%. If your dog comes too close and my dog goes nuts and gets a hold of your dog, how do you think I’m going to feel? As a responsible owner I’ve done everything to protect my dog and yours, shouldn’t you do the same?.... just another perspective to consider on the dog issue. Not all dogs are friendly towards other dogs. Love your videos! I’m currently in the application process for PD and the BF and I are really enjoying your content.

Right after Depot would be very rare actually. If you had a spouse that was a police officer in Quebec already that would significantly increase your chances though.

wssapman686 RCMP pension is the best pension there is. Better than municipal pensions.
You can buy a house with RCMP. With VPD you will never be able to buy a house.
