a word for cloud retainer is eccentric, which i love to see. truly a lot of characters felt copy/paste aside from their backstories.

Yeah I think this analysis is way off on the facts. Clearly they knew they wanted to make Could Retainer a playable character from the start. They didn't suddenly come to that decision this year. They didn't change her character from what it was in v1.0 Plus it's hard to try and say they failed to make her an attractive character for people to buy when her banner literally beat all others so far to date. Again what's with this weird idea that only female characters are lonely? That seems about the opposite of true. Neuvillette, Wanderer, Xiao you mention, Bennet and Razor, Diluc and Kaeya, most male characters are isolated people. Which female characters are supposed to be lonely? You suggest Keqing is but her own story references her going shopping with her friends and buying Morax plushies when they aren't looking. You say Kokomi isn't shown as a battle leader while running a clip of her in a big battle scene. Was that intentional? Btw when has any male character been portrayed in that way? You characterize Ei's story quest as a date -- she challenges a guy to a duel to the death during it which, I dunno about you but that's not generally how dates go. That doesn't depict gentleness and loyalty and whatever stereotypes of Waifu-ness you were trying to establish-- to me.
All of this feels very much just drawing the dots with what you want to see, the unicorn in the data. You're not really testing your hypothesis just looking for anything that apparently agrees with it. It's a very common mistake that theorists make. The problem is that if you only look for positive evidence then pretty much anything looks like a fit. You have to test the negative evidence also. If you want to establish something like "female characters are one dimensional and made to appeal to the opposite sex" then you need to see if that's true of the male characters too. It seems to me with very little effort you could 180 degree reverse the conclusions of your thesis here and apply it to male characters pointing out how they are all edgy and tough but with a secret vulnerable side all to appeal as the perfect husbando. The only difference is when you do get a male character branching out of that stereotype like eg Thoma, who is happy, friendly and outgoing but with no apparent hidden vulnerable side, and interesting in the very unsexy job of being a housekeeper, well lets say I've never seen any female players expressing much of any interest in him. He's not husbando material and he's not going to be part of a record breaking banner.
Perhaps the male players are less influenced by these stereotypes than the female players?
I offer this observation as a mere example of how easy such an analysis is to come up with.

Even the “date” was more so about Ei getting more in touch with the people of Inazuma and experiencing what she had missed in centuries. Yeah it’s played up for the audience but that’s what it is.

This seems off. Are you sure you're not seeing what you want here? Seems like the male characters are also designed to appeal to people and a better example of a character with deeply troubling ethics (than Ei who actually has very good ethics) that are glossed over would be Wriothesley. He kills his own parents but hey -- they had it coming, right? He threatens to kill Lynette and endangers Freminet deliberately but it's all somehow not a problem.
Also you'd need to compare like with like; the younger female PCs with the younger male PCs like Razor or Bennet. Don't we get the same issues of vulnerability and naivety with all young PCs? Bennet falls over himself to try and go adventuring with the Traveler and is that any less gushing than Ayaka? But their motivations are their own. Having said that it's canon (since the fortune teller scene in Sumeru) that the Traveler is very charismatic as well as long lived. So I don't have a problem with everyone being especially nice to Traveler (and it happens regardless of the sex of the traveler except in that one case).
"Women still face ageism" is a trite criticism. Where are the older male characters as PCs and not marketed as husbandos? There's not one. I guess the closest is Neuvillette, but his lack of social skills is played as a cute flaw and not as a decision based on his life experience as it is with Cloud Retainer. He's still just a husbando.

her character story is not good. all i can remember is not her problem, but it is the npcs. idk i just don't like a character story that has focus on the heroin the same as the npc. and cant they just like use the characters that already there, and not npc. seriously when i do her story, i fell asleep and missed the entire dialog and doesn't feel it matter.
