Good work drain addict 😃 seeing drains full of dirt and leaf litter is pretty common sight and I work as a gardener. But I often clear pits like that. The dirt is best thrown into compost.

Back flow, no storm water connexion, and pipes cutting thru the pits, blocking debris flow. It's looking like they need you boys in on a six month schedule. When it rains that thing with block again.

'Where I live in all street runoff must be processed as sewage blackwater. The city is a proponent of this type of quasi French drain for driveway, roof, and yard drainage and installed four huge underground collection stations on my property.
@@nomebear honestly, I think in dense cities, I think that's the right idea. Between dog poop, sometimes human poop, a million motor oil drips, and God knows what else, well, we shouldn't be discharging it to bodies of water!
Systems like these are designed as such to catch sediment and solid items, they are actually very effective if the property owner comes out every couple of months to dig out the sediment, which they rarely do lol. I've seen these sediment catch basins most typically where there is excessive littering.

Ahh my favourite doodad.. the double barrel soil killer. I think someone isn't doing their job of cleaning out those rainwater catchers. When you have a garden growing inside it, then it may just need to be cleaned out.
